//------------------------------// // Friendship to the Last // Story: Color My World // by TrebleClef91 //------------------------------// The shiny, happy, colorful kingdom of Equestria was no longer to be seen, after Queen Chrysalis was defeated she swore vengeance, she swore to come back and so she did. The changeling queen returned worse than ever, she submit every pony into slavery without mercy and destroy anypony who dares to cross on her way. All the love and happines which once ruled Equestria were forever banish, Equestria was now a merely shadow of what it once was, a monochromatic world ruled by hate and sadness. Both of the princesses were taken away into the dungeons only allowed to fulfill their duties at raising the sun and the moon and the so called "Elements of Harmony" were gone, there was no more magic, honesty, kindness or generosity. But what about the remaining two? The remaining elements, loyalty and laughter, took the worst... they had to survive into this world. When everything was lost Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash were forced to work for the Queen, Pinkie Pie the bearer of the element of "laughter" was used as an alternate source of "energy" for the Chrysalis' personal use, since there was no more love on Equestria Chrysalis started sucking Pinkie's own happiness day after day; Rainbow Dash, bearer of the element of "loyalty" was alive just thanks to her high pride, she wasn't going to give up that easily, not while she was still on foot to give a fight. Both of the remaining elements met each other on the edge of the Everfree Forest during the night while all of the changeling patrols were down and the queen was long asleep. On their meetings they both shared stories about their good, old times in Ponyville, when everything was normal, they shared stories about the times when they used to go pranking other ponies around town and all the adventures they used to have with their friends, they also used to laught during long lapses of time just with the single memory of their past lives, this was the only thing which kept them sane in a world where every positive emotion was drained and teared apart. Days and nights kept passing and the meetings between the two friends were still going, it was until a night when everything went wrong... "Yep, that was super fun!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie inbetween giggles, "Do you remember that time when..." "Silence!" whispered Rainbow Dash placing a hoof on Pinkie's mouth in order to silence her, "Pinkie, did you heard that?" Pinkie Pie shook her head giving Rainbow Dash a negative answer, then she focused on their surrounding waiting for any other sound. "I think it came from here" said Rainbow Dash as she slowly crawled to the left side of the current position. Pinkie Pie followed Rainbow Dash into the depths of the forest. Rainbow Dash continued walking for a few meters before stepping on a dry branch causing it to release a cracking sound causing Rainbow and Pinkie to froze still. When they heard the the sound both of the guards turned their heads searching were the sound came from. "Let's go back slowly" whispered Rainbow Dash walking back as slowly and silently as she could. Pinkie did the same only to step on another branch. "Identify yourselves!" ordered one of the guards as he pointed his flashlight to both of the runaway ponies. "Pony feathers!" cursed Rainbow Dash as she turned around to starr galloping at top speed, "Run, Pinkie, they saw us!" "Let's get them!" shouted one of the guards to his companion as he started running after Rainbow and Pinkie, "They will not get to far." "What are we going to do?" asked Pinkie Pie worried, panting slightly as they ran throught the forest. "Just keep running!" ordered Rainbow Dash trying to hide the fear she felt inside. The chase continued for some minutes as the two remaining Elements ran for their lives and the guards running behind them already thinking in delight in all the possible ways of tortures they could execute on them once they finally get them. Rainbow, who was leading the way running at top speed, had to break violently followed by Pinki Pie, they met the end of the road. "What are we going to do now, Dashie?" asked Pinkie Pie worried at the edge of tears. "I-I... I don't know" said Rainbow Dash in defeat as she took a look at the abyss against them and them and then back to Pinkie. Rainbow could easily dash away from there using a single flap of her wing, but she was not going to leave the last one of her friends behing, she was not going to let Pinkie fall into the changelings heartless hooves, "I'm sorry Pinkie" Pinkie Pie turned to see Rainbow Dash with a confused look on her face, she was already going to ask what she has meant with those last words but Rainbow didn't gave her the time to do it, Rainbow pushed Pinkie into the cliff. Pinkie rolled the whole way down the cliff with just some scratches and bruises along her body. When she finally recovered she stood up and looked up. "Run, Pinkie, run!" shouted Rainbow at her now safe friend, "Don't worry about me, I'll see you again someday!" "Dashie!" shouted Pinkie Pie as she saw Rainbow Dash been tackled by the guards who had been chasing them. "Just go!" shouted one last time Rainbow Dash before going out of Pinkie's sight . Pinkie Pie obeyed Rainbow's possible last will, she ran as fast as she could for about fifteen minutes before founding a cave and collapsing in exhaustion. Pinkie's eyes start to water while she remember what had just happen some minutes back, Rainbow Dash, her best friend in the whole world, has just saved her life and all she could do was running away. Memories of the past life in Ponyville start flooding Pinkie's delicate mind making her to start crying until she fell asleep. Pinkie woke up still not knowing what to do, she didn't even know if there was something she could possibly do. Yes, yes it was something... she has to look back for Rainbow Dash, she was going to find her or die trying. Pinkie poked her head out of the cave looking for any possible danger. When she found non, she decide it was time to begin her search. After an hour Pinkie arrived to town, it was all alone, some of the houses were destroyed and the once which remain on foot were blocked wooden-plancked, half broken doors. It was impossible to believe that the town was once full of care-free, happy fillies and colts. Pinkie began to walk into the lonely streets where she spotted tons of messages written on the walls; ""Surrender, there's no hope left!", "Silence, we can only watch in silence and horror", "The princesses had forsake us all!" each of the written messages were darker and darker, everypony has just surrender to their foes, but not Pinkie, she had and special quest ahead, she was going to find her friend. Time passed and Pinkie wasn't able to find Rainbow Dash, then realization hit her, she had to get into Queen Chrysalis' castle, there was were everypony was taken if they act against the queen's will, maybe, just maybe Rainbow was still there and alive. Pinkie crossed the half destroyed town until she arrived to her destiny, but there was still one problem and maybe the biggest and most important of them all. How the hay was she going to enter? "The front door!" Pinkie thought to herself as if it was the most normal solution. Every hour the gate opened for the guards to get in with new prisioners or to take back the ones who tried to escape. It was only a matter of time, patience and perfect coordination. Pinkie waited hidden in a bush for about forty minutes before watching a small patrol coming back from their duties. The gates opened, the guards got in and the gates began closing once more. "NOW!", Pinkie thought as she left her hideout and jumped through the closing gate rolling to the closest wall she found once she landed. After confirming nopony saw her she trotted as silently as she could toward the entrance, the screams begging for their lifes and prayers filled Pinkie's ears causing her heart to twitch, yet she continued. Pinkie found herself in a long hall with thousands of door along the way, she decided, after thinking and hesitating for a long time, to follow the screams, surely they were going to lead her to the dungeons where everypony was taken for violating the law, she walked silently taking care of not to be seen. "Move!" shouted a guard pushing a young couple of unicorns with a small filly between them. "You are not allowed to smile, talk or make visual contact either to us or to other ponies" finished another guard as he opened a door which led to their cells, "Now, get in there!" Pinkie watched the scene in horror and sadness as a couple of tears rolled down her muzzle but there was nothing she could possibly do to help them without being discover and being put into slavery as well. Pinkie gulped and walked towards the door in the end of the hall which snapped open, Pinkie jumped to her left covering her mouth suppressing a squeak of terror and her now violent breathing, she pressed her eyes tight as another couple of tears gathered in her eyes, her heart was beating fast. It was it, she was discovered. Two guards came out of the door, walking straight not even paying attention to their surrounding, they walked into the door were the couple of unicorns were thrown a minute ago and slammed the door behind them. Pinkie fell to the floor sobbing as a great sense of relief ran through her veins, yet the fear was still there. When she recovered her sanity she crossed the door only to find another hall, this time there were no door, only small cells which kept the imprisioned ponies waiting for their last breath. Pinkie walked through the hall taking a quick look into every cell, she saw mares, stallions and even young fillies and colts but she didn't saw her friend, Rainbow was nowhere to be seen. With her heart about to crush for all the screams of pain and prayers for freedom, Pinkie Pie was about to give up, she then saw another door she missed to check. Pinkie crossed the door and saw one last cell in the middle of the room with a young pegasus mare with a multichromatic mane and tail givin her back to Pinkie. "Go away!" said the cyan pegasus with a croaky voice to whoever has just entered to the room, "You are getting nothing from me." "Not even a smile?" asked Pinkie jockingly despite of the situation. The cyan pony's head went high, her eyes went wide open as she listened to that familiar, squeaky voice of her friend, yet she was unable to believe it. "Pinkie?" asked Rainbow Dash slowly turning her head incredulously, "What in Celestia's name are you doing here!?" "I came for you" said Pinkie walking forward her colorful friend's cell. Rainbow Dash's pride was high enough to prevent her to cry infront of somepony else, yet that didn't kept her tears away from her eyes as her pink friend walked forward stretching a hoof for her. "Y-you... you are one of the craziest ponies I have ever met" sniffled Rainbow Dash as she stretch one of her hooves as well. "You told me we were going to see each other again" said Pinkie between sobs as tears were now freely flowing on the pink pony's eyes, "And here we are." "You crazy mare!" exclaimed Rainbow pulling Pinkie to herself for an embrace, new tears rolling down from her eyes. "I missed you, Dashie!" sniffled Pinkie as she hold Rainbow Dash tight in her hooves. "I missed you too, Pinkie" said Rainbow Dash breaking their embrace, "But you shouldn't have come." "W-What are you talking about?" said Pinkie with deep sadness in her voice. "Now you won't be able to go back" said Rainbow hunging her head and staring to the ground, "And all because of me." "Dashie" said Pinkie with a warm tone of voice as she placed a hoof under Rainbow's chin lifting her head until Rainbow's eyes met hers, "I don't care about that, silly." "But..." started Rainbow but she was quickly silenced by Pinkie's hoof. "We are together again and one day we will meet our friends again" said Pinkie with a warm smile on her face and a comforting look on her eyes, "And until that happen I will have my Dashie to color my world." Rainbow's mind was blown, nopony has ever shown such appreciation for her before, she grabbed Pinkie's shoulders and pulled her once more for another embrace. "Thank you" sniffled Rainbow as more tears met her cheeks. There were no more words to be said, only the time ahead will tell the rest. Both mares stayed there holding each other waiting for the day of their last breath to come, waiting for the day when they are finally able to meet the ones they once love and care about, waiting for the day when they finally find peace. The End.
