Where We Went

Chapter 1

Where we went

I suppose you are wondering where we went. 'Who do you mean by we?' you are probably thinking by now, by we I mean all the colts and fillies that lived in the crystal empire before.... He came. It's a long story, but here is my story. My name is Harmon, and this is how I died.

I stare at the clear blue sky, wonder in my violet eyes as I watch it change from a light blue, to a dusty brown color, and like a flash of lightning, it changed back "Woa..." I hear ponies screaming in terror, but I was too young to understand what was happening at the time.
"Harmon!" I hear Mama yell out the window at me "Get that blank flank of yours inside, now!" she yelled sternly, I look at her and see pure fear and terror in her eyes.
"Ok Mama" I say and trotted inside, "Why is everybody so scared?" I ask her. Momma looked like she was about to make a very big and hard decision, later I realized that it was. Mama's shoulders sagged and her mane fell out of it's beautiful updo, I loved her hair so much.
"The crystal empire is falling... Sombera is fighting our king now, but but the looks of it, Sombera is winning..." I could not help but be surprised. The crystal King was a strong stallion, the only known crystal unicorn, I was jumped out of my thoughts when lightning flashed, and the sky turned the dark dusty color.
"No...." Mama started weeping. I have never seen Mama weep, not even when Daddy left to help keep away Sombera and than mama said that we won't see Daddy again. I look out the window and a booming voice echoed throughout the empire. "Gather, my slaves..."

Six months later, a lot has been changed in the empire. I haven't seen Mama since the day King Sombera took over. The sorting chamber separated us from our parents. Now I have to dig, right in the King's throne room, a long with about thirty other fillies and colts. My body trembles with cold and hunger, I can't help it. I risk a glance at the king, he looks just as terrifying and evil as the day he took over. I risk a glance at the other fillies and colts around me, they aren't in much better shape than me. I sigh when I think about all the others who died building this spiral staircase for the king. Some fell off the edge, others jumped, and some got so tired they laid down and closed their eyes, and never got up. I use the hammer I was issued to hit the piece of crystal I was supposed to make a stair out of, it was slow going, and my exhaustion only made it worse. I hear lightning flash from the top of the stairs, and me, along with the other foals looked up. I herd the king curse loudly.
A foul smelling odor came down the staircase "Sleep my crystal slaves....." I did not trust it, but I was so tired and it seemed with every breath of air I was getting more exhausted. To my right a colt fell to the ground, than another to my right. I knew what was happening, King Sombera wanted to hide that he inslaved foals and starved them. So he was disposing of them, us. I tried to hold my breath, I pressed my hoof to my nose. My hooves slid apart and I went down to the ground, I tried to keep my  eyes open Why don't I give in? It will be over the thought weaves it's way into my mind before I fell into unconsciousness

I watch my sister as she fights the king, I mean, I was helping too but... Just wow. I wish I was that amazing. I dip my head down and shoot a beam of magic at him, it missed but burned a hole in the dark King's cape. He snarled at me, firing a blast of magic at me, I felt my wings seize at my sides and went flying back as the electricity coursed through me. I could not move as my back cracked agenst the Crystal Castle's window and it shattered, knocking the breath out of me.

I blinked open my eyes open a few minatues later, a stabbing pain in my back. I staggered to my dark hooves wincing, when out of the corner of my eye I saw something odd. I looked and saw a crystal staircase right at the base of king Sombera's throne "Hmm..." I trotted down the stairs, my aqua eyes adjusting to the darkness. As I reached the bottom, I stumbled back in horror when I saw all the bodies of dying and dead fillies and colts.

I opened my eyes when I heard hooves coming down the stairs. My head pounded and I felt sick. I slowly roll my head to the side to see a dark indigo alicorn mare staring at all of us as we laid on the crystal floor. "H-Co-P-p" I tried to speak, but my throat was on fire, and tears already streamed down my stinging eyes.

I look over all of them, my gaze stopped on one filly, she looked younger than the others. Pure white with a blue and purple mane. I could see her trying to talk, I also saw the tears leaking from her violet eyes. I rush over to her, sinking to my knees I was aware of how cold the floor was as I picked her up. She was light. Much lighter than a average filly her age. I felt a lump rise in my throat as I see all her bones jutting out. "Why...?" I herd my self whispering, clutching the fully closely

I have never saw a alicorn before that day. "I-it's alright" I manage to rasp to her. I felt the darkness creeping up on the edge of my vision. I start thinking of Mama, my best friend Sunny, that cute colt I used to have a crush on, all the happiness of my life. A small smile spread across my mouth, my eyes closing slowly than the light shooting at me.
 "It's alright"
