As the private assistant to Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, Josey Hoofington was constantly occupied by business. This left Joss, as she liked to be called, without the normal luxuries that ponies like you or I take for granted. Being always on the move left her with little time to pursue a real relationship.

She didn’t necessarily have much time for friends, save for the princesses and a very select few from grade school. She was a life long resident of Canterlot, and knew the city inside and out. Her hobbies while not working included playing violin with the Canterlot Quartet, hiking the Mouri Mountains, and writing guest columns for Equestria Daily.
She always stated that the royal sisters were her family and her greatest passion was assisting them with tasks such as organizing meetings, welcoming diplomats, and even helping the sisters with minor decisions.

Joss is survived by her Sister, High Note. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sophia Hoofington, and her father, Gray Mayor Hoofington IV.

Josey Hoofington was stalked and stabbed multiple times by an unknown assailant in the South Quarter of Canterlot. Her body was found in the Solar Pool, below Canterlot’s grand waterfall by an undisclosed pony. There are no reported witnesses to the crime and Canterlot Police Department are requesting anypony with any information to please make contact with them immediately. They can be reached at the non emergency number of *8. A full police investigation is in progress at this time by the Canterlot Police Department and by officials in the neighboring town of Ponyville.

As stated in her will, memorials may be made to the Canterlot Quartet for a fund to purchase new musical instruments.

Princess Celestia has said on the news of Josey’s death:

”I don’t know why any monster would choose to harm such an innocent and loving pony. Josey was the sweetest pony I knew and I can assure the rest of Equestria that the Canterlot Police Department and even the royal guards will not cease their search until the culprit of this despicable crime has been uncovered.”

Princess Luna declined to comment on the death of her close friend and personal assistant, but a royal guard was able to tell us that the Princess of the night and Josey did not have such a boss and assistant relationship as much as they had a big sister little sister relationship.
