Chapter Fifty Three

Sunset

I yawned and shifted in my seat as Derpy snored with her head on my lap. Lyra and Bon Bon sat across from me as the two snored loudly as a snickering Rainbow and Pinkie recorded them.

I would say something but frankly, I could tease them about it later. Those two had gotten a video of me slipping in the rain so friendly blackmail of course. I can use it to make them buy me a shake or something for my siblings and mom. Mom sat with an arm around Diamond as the two snored and I glanced at the geode on mom’s neck. I wasn’t that surprised she got one. If anyone deserved one for putting up with my ass, it’s here.

“I think I’m gonna vomit,” Sea Swirl moaned as she turned a faint shade of green and covered her mouth. She had chosen to ride with us in the bus and Lightning chose to ride with in Indigos truck.

“Do it out the window please darling,” Rarity fanned herself as she opened Sea Swirls window. “This dress is hand made. Very expensive material was used.”

“We get it Rarity,” Applejack muttered under her hat that she had placed over her head as she shifted a bit.

“That was so awesome!” Scootaloo shouted as Mom jumped up from her seat a bit. “Oops, sorry. Didn’t mean to wake you Mom.”

“You’re good,” Mom muttered and stretched. “Glad you all enjoyed yourselves. It was nice.”

I nodded my agreement as I watched Octavia and Sonata playing a card game as Vinyl drooled on the seat in her sleep. I didn’t really have a favorite part of camp, it was all epic. I’d have to say it was either sleeping next to Derpy or hanging out with Mom on the beach.

“I’m going to sleep. Wake me up and I will bite you,” I warned the entire bus sternly and narrowed my eyes slightly. It was about twelve in the morning and we had a few more hours till we got to Canterlot.

A few nervous laughs came from my few awake classmates as I closed my eyes and placed a hand on Derpys back.

“Hey wake up.” I faintly made out Trixie’s voice and something or someone shaking me. “Sunset, wake up. We’re at school.”

I yawned and slowly opened my eyes. In our sleep Derpy and I had somehow switched positions as stared at Derpys wide golden eyes with a blush.

“Hello.”

“Hey.”

“You were drooling on my head slightly so we kinda swapped. Surprised you slept through it,” Derpy grinned as I sat up. “Your mom already got your bags in the car.”

“Wait!” I exclaimed and looked around. “Where is Sea Swirl and Sonata? They didn’t go back home yet did they?”

“Nah!” Lemon Zest shouted as she jumped up from the outside of the bus. “They are waiting for you at the statue.” I jogged off the bus with a confused Derpy following me.

“Hey!” Sea Swirl called out and waved with a grin. She and Sonata were standing by the portal as they kicked a rock back and forth. “About freaking time you woke up.”

“Were you dreaming of tacos?” Sonata asked excitedly as she grabbed my shoulders and shook me.

“Uh no,” I admitted and shook my head. “I was dreaming of being in bed.” I had a feeling dreaming of tacos is what Sonata did often and after seeing what Pinkie thought of, I don’t think I was interested in reading another person’s memories so soon.

“Fair enough. I’m looking forward to being back with Sassaflash,” Sea Swirl admitted with a faint smile. “Two weeks is a long time to be away from the wife after all.” She and I hugged as Lavender approached.

“Hey can I talk to Sea Swirl for a moment and then you can have her back?” Lavender asked hopefully and brushed her blonde hair with her hand.

“Yeah of course,” I said as we separated and the two walked off to where I couldn’t hear them speak. “Be sure to smooth over relations with you sisters Sonata.”

“I’m fine with them both,” Sonata scoffed and waved her hand. “It’s Adagio and Aria who have issues with each other. I’ll try though. No promises. The last time we all three separated like this, the Civil War started.”

I gave her a stunned and a bit of a disgusted look at that information. The idea that three of my friends potentially started a deadly war was a bit concerning. I glanced back quickly at Trixie and Watermelody laughing about something.

I raised an eyebrow slightly as the two hugged. I didn’t know they had been this close. The last time I heard, they were in some sort of dating competition.

“Which side do you pick?” I asked cautiously as Sonata shrugged.

“The Union of course!” Sonata chirped and I sighed in relief. “Aria sided with the French and Adagio chose the Confederates for a bit before choosing to stay neutral.”

“Why?”

“Seriously?” Sonata gave me a surprisingly serious look. “Slavery was wrong. Adagio liked South Carolina and they started the war. After she saw General Sherman and his total war tactic of absolutely obliterating the country side plus the slave conditions, Adagio quietly renounced the South and became neutral. I know she doesn’t seem like the type, but Aria actually tried to negotiate peace.”

“Huh while this was uh enlightening, you better get back. I think your sister’s are awaiting you,” I pointed out as Sonata gasped dramatically, hugged me and jumped through the portal. “Well, that happened.”

“Yep,” Derpy agreed as Sea Swirl approached and hugged her.

“See you soon,” Sea Swirl smirked as she stepped through the portal.

“Crazy that I called us being kept hostage by a nature crazed camp director,” I mused as I slipped a hand into Derpy’s.

“I want a whole pile of muffins,” Derpy announced as she drooled. I snickered and wiped it off with my shirt sleeve. “Oh thanks.”

“You’re welcome,” I said as we started walking.

“Can I spend the night?” Derpy asked hopefully and turned her puppy dog eyes face on.

“You know I can’t say no when you use that face.” Derpy gave me a mischievous smirk and winked at me as she bumped her hip against mine.

“I know.”
