Chapter Forty Six

Derpy

I dropped a plank of wood down next to the recently redestroyed dock. Apparently someone certain pink haired girl had accidentally destroyed it with shocker, yet another boat.

Applejack gently was hammering the nails as Rainbow raised an eyebrow before dropping her box of nails.

“Trying to not break the boards?” Octavia asked as she added some boards to my pile.

“Ah ain’t got a clue what ya mean,” Applejack grumbled as she rolled her eyes. “Ahm just hammerin my boards.”

“Uh huh,” Rainbow commented with a frown.

“And why ain’t ya two runnin around?” Applejack demanded as she glared. “Ya got Trixie teleporting, Lightning and Rainbow with super speed, Rarity making gems and shit.”

“We really need to talk about this new magic,” Sunset sighed as she stared at us. “I got new magic too. I can see memories if I touch people.”

“I think something bad is going to happen,” Octavia commented as she nailed a board in.

“Whaddaya mean?” Lightning asked as she sat crosslegged on the ground and ignored the look Rarity gave her. Sea Swirl leaned against the boards as she watched us curiously.

“I think I can like see the future maybe? Seems weird I know but I just know something is going to happen. I see tiny pieces here and there. Something about the camp behind surrounded in woods,” Octavia admitted as we all looked at each other.

“Fascinating,” Sunset mused as she stood up. “Anyone see Lavender?” We all shook our heads as a brush of cold air made me shiver.

“I’m right here,” a voice next to me said as I glanced over and scrambled back. There was no one there. “Oh sorry.” Lavender suddenly appeared as we stared at her.

“Woah!” Vinyl shouted as we all cringed and covered our ears. She had apparently gotten a really loud voice recently. I blame magic for this mess.

“I can go invisible and stuff. Fuchsia recently walked through a wall,” Lavender explained as she sat down. “It was pretty scary the first few times.”

“I woke up floating,” Bon Bon grumbled as she glared at Lyra as Lyra blushed.

“I apologized!”

“Funny so did-” Sunset paused as Twilight elbowed her and Vinyl raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t. Twilight is the only one who doesn’t have new magic along with Derpy.”

“I don’t trust this dang place,” Sea Swirl announced. “It’s so similar to the Everfree forest back home. I live close to it. I don’t like it.”

“The Everfree forest isn’t natural,” Sunset explained. “It works outside of Equestrias laws of nature. The pegasi can’t even control the weather over it, the earth ponies can’t control the plants and we unicorns can’t change the magical make up of the forest either. We’ve tried and it just breaks through.”

“You don’t think something from the Everfree forest could be causing this?” Sonata asked nervously as the three Equestrians looked nervous.

“I hope not,” Sunset muttered. “And I’m really hoping a Timberwolf or a Cockatrice didn’t get loose in here. If it did, then we’re all screwed pretty much.”

“A what?” Lightning asked as Vinyl covered her mouth to hid a grin. A rare look of fear crossed Sunset, Sea Swirl and Sonata’s faces as the three shuddered.

“A Timberwolf. It’s a wolf made of wood. They can’t be killed unless you burn them,” Sunset explained nervously. “They got restricted to the Everfree forest after they attacked a village and killed some ponies. I’ve never seen one but I know they aren’t to be messed with. I’d run in the opposite direction as fast as I could.”

“So what now?” Lyra asked as a howling wolf made us all jump nervously and sit closer to each other. Sunset stood up a faint smile.

“I’ll tell you what we do.”

After a surprisingly motivating song about embracing magic and all that, the dock was completed in a matter of hours. I didn’t really want to accidentally destroy so I sat next to Twilight and watched.

“Hey Twilight,” I smiled faintly at the purple girl next to me.

“Oh hey Derpy,” Twilight forced a smile and my smile was quickly replaced with a frown. “How are you?”

“Good you?”

“I’m fine thanks,” Twilight sighed and I raised an eyebrow. I waited quietly as Twilight glanced at me.

“I can feel something is wrong,” I muttered as Twilight’s jaw dropped slightly. “I can feel your emotions somehow, you’re afraid of something. Or someone.”

“You think your magic is going to make you ugly?’ Twilight added before hastily adding, “Not that I have any new magic of course!” Octavia glanced over and raised an eyebrow. I nodded subtly and narrowed my eyes. That was her tell that someone was lying.

“I don’t think so,” I answered with a smile. “Turned the Rainbooms and my friends into something beautiful. And it will do it to you when you get your magic.” A bright golden glow surrounded me as my hair grew even longer than it normally was and my ears grew pointy. Twilight and the others covered their eyes as the glow faded a bit.

“Woah,” I faintly heard Rainbow mutter in awe.

“You know who Sunset was?” I asked Twilight curiously as she shrugged.

“She mentioned pieces here and there. Pretty vague about her past.”

Well, Easter Eggs. There goes my inspiring speech. And yes, I just Easter Eggs. I don’t really swear so I come up with replacement words.

“Okay well uh your magic will come soon I bet!” I grinned and hugged Twilight. “Sunset’s did, Lyra’s did and I did. Heck, even Trixie got new magic!” Not only could Trixie teleport, when she played Applejacks bass, she almost knocked us all over with a soundwave from the instrument.

“Maybe,” Twilight muttered as I let go and she stood up. “I doubt it. Thanks Derpy.”

“No problem,” I said as I glanced at Applejack and jerked my head in Twilight’s direction as Applejack hastily nodded and ran after Twilight. “Interesting.”

We may have decided to have someone be with Twilight at all times in case she tried to run off again. Even if they didn’t know why, it still helped us out a bit.

“Who wants muffins?” I shouted and opened the sitting container next to me.

“Watch out below!” Trixie shouted as we all looked up as Trixie appeared above me and fell on her stomach next to me.

“Hey Trixie.”

“Hey Derpy.”

“What are you up to?” I asked curiously and snickered.

“Oh you know, just dropping by.”
