Chapter Thirty Three

Octavia

I gently dusted the piano in the corner as I observed Diamond wiping off some wood instruments in the corner. A dinging noise over the door leading into the instrument shop my family owned made us look over as Lightning and Rainbow grinned at us.

“Hey Tavi!” Lightning called out as I walked to the counter with Diamond and we stood behind it. “Yo Diamond.”

“Hello loves,” I smiled and dusted my light pink skirt off before frowning slightly at the oil on my white socks. “What can we do for you?”

“Need our guitars repaired,” Rainbow said sheepishly as the two held up their damaged guitars. “You can do that here, right?”

“Yes,” I answered as I cast a critical eye at them. “Pray tell, what did happen to them?”

“So we were playing right?”

“Yes.”

“And we really got into it.”

“Mhm.”

“And we smashed our guitars like it was a rock concert,” Rainbow finished as I facepalmed. “Yeah.”

“Sunset and Trixie didn’t smash theirs if that makes you feel better,” Lightning offered sheepishly.

“No it does make me feel better!” I fumed angrily. “You should treat your instruments with love and respect! They are as innocent as a snowflake or a newborn puppy who hasn’t opened their eyes yet!”

Rainbow and Lightning gave each other looks as they slowly started edging to the door as I continued my rant. Diamond propped herself up with a hand on the counter as I took a deep breath.

“You’re very poetic when mad,” Diamond noted as I glanced down at her. “Also they left about twenty minutes ago. I tried to warn you but you didn’t hear me.

“I’ve been told that I am very interesting when upset,” I admitted and adjusted my pink bow tie. “And don’t worry, I have their cards on file the last time they brought their instruments here to be repaired.”

Diamond merely nodded as she wiped the counter off and I placed the guitars in the back. Those two were always bringing their broken guitars in here.

“Thanks for letting me help around your moms shop,” Diamond said finally from her spot on the ground behind the counter. “Scootaloo was driving me nuts.”

“Not a problem love,” I waved a hand with a smile. I knew all about loud family members, I’m related to Pinkie after all. Most people are startled by that fact. Even more so than Maud being Pinkies sister. The bell chimed and I gazed with narrowed eyes. “Stay down.”

“Why?” Diamond asked nervously.

“Your mother is here,” I said quietly as Diamond gave me a confused look.

“You mean the school one?”

“No the other one,” I clarified and gently shoved her head down. “Stay quiet and don’t make a sound. Hello love how can I help you!”

“I’m looking for a piece of piano music,” Spoiled said as I kept a neutral look. I didn’t like the woman after what Sunset had told me. “You have a wonderful shop.”

“Thank you,” I bowed my head slightly. “No offense meant but aren’t you supposed in jail?”

“I’m on bond,” Spoiled glared and slammed a hand on the counter as Diamond flinched. “More made up evidence is coming to light. My lawyers will get me out of this. I deserve it, after all I’ve done for this town.”

“You deserve something all right,” Diamond whispered and I gently nudged her with my shoe and she covered her mouth.

“I recognize you,” Spoiled said and folded her arms. “You’re friends with that little monster Sunset Shimmer and her gang of miscreants. I’ve heard rumors my ex daughters are running with that whelp.”

“Those miscreants are my friends love,” I said coldly and made eye contact. I may not like violence or use aggression to defend myself like Lightning or Sunset, but I’m more than capable of standing up for my self. “As is that whelp. And I have no knowledge if your family members are with her. Now kindly vacate the premise love or I ask the police for assistance in getting you out.”

“Hmph!” Spoiled scoffed as I picked up the phone for emphasis. “Your mother wouldn’t approve of you associating with them. Your social standing is most certainly taking hits from associating insignificant low lives.”

“Leave.” Diamonds eyes slightly widened at the cold tone of my voice as her mother retreated after she paid for her item. I watched her leave in a black limo as I gestured for Diamond to stand up.

“You’re awesome. You know that?” Diamond hugged my waist as I smiled faintly.

“I have been told something along those lines love,” I said smugly as I patted her head. “Just because I don’t use violence doesn’t mean I can’t stand up for myself.”

“Why isn’t she in jail?” Diamond wondered aloud as we listened to the soft jazz music we played on the shop radio. “Court cases are too tedious. Should just throw her in any way.”

“Due process and fair trial love,” I warned. “Law is the law after all, even for her. No person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property. Whereas the sixth amendment stipulates specific basic rights deriving from the general right to a fair trial in an enumerative manner.”

“I have no idea what you just said or what enumerative means,” Diamond admitted sheepishly after a few moments of silence.

“To count off or name one by one,” I clarified as I set my down on the counter. “You still aren’t allowed around your bio mother, correct?”

“Yes. Why?”

With a smug grin, I pointed to the cameras in the corner directly ahead of us. Diamonds eyes followed my finger and grinned back.

“Why did you agree to watch me?” Diamond asked curiously as I picked my phone up to text Cheerilee.

“I enjoy your company. Besides, Sunset asked me to so she could go to the movies and dinner with her mom. She deserves a night with her mother without loud children,” I said with a wink. I secretly hoped Diamond wasn’t going to ask anything else like the other classmates did.

Most of them asked if Sunset and I secretly had something going on due to us suddenly hanging out more around the school. Fighting off the changelings together would bring people together. Lyra and Vinyl had quickly shut down those rumors thankfully before Lightning could. Lightning would probably break their arms.

“Fair enough,” Diamond yawned as I smirked.

“Let’s go. I’ll walk you to my house. Cheerilee wants you to spend the night with me. Scootaloo is with Lightning and Silver Spoon is with Fluttershy. We can do each others make up.”

“Epic!” Diamond squealed before she inhaled. “I mean sounds good.”

With a small laugh, she followed me outside as I shut the door and we started walking down the street. I had the feeling neither of us would be sleeping much tonight.
