//------------------------------// // Chapter Twenty Two // Story: Save The World, Duh! // by TheKing2001 //------------------------------// Derpy “You did what!?” Everyone shivered jumped slightly at my exclamation as we sat around the throne room. The main six were busy with their lives and weren’t here. Applejack had the farm, Fluttershy was feeding her animals. Pinkie and Rarity were baking while Twilight was meeting the mayor with the princesses while Rainbow was working on the weather. “I turned it down,” Sunset repeated as she shrugged and ate a cookie. “Are you insane?” I shouted as Sunset flinched. Lyra and Lightning looked at us nervously before looking back to each other. “You know,” Lyra said as her eyes flicked between us. “I just suddenly remembered that I agreed to help my counterpart!” “I also agreed to help my counterpart!” Lightning said nervously as the two shot out of the room. “We haven’t even met your counterpart!” I shouted as Berry Punch and the others quietly slipped out of the room. “I think you two should have this argument alone,” Octavia said honestly as usual and she galloped out of the room before flashing us a reassuring smile and shut the doors quietly. “Why do you think I should have accepted it?” Sunset asked as she focused on me. It had been about a week since the invasion and she had been healing up nicely. She stubbornly insisted on walking without my help or Octavia’s. I swear, that mare will kill me one day. If her family doesn’t kill her first for not listening to the doctors of course. “Because! You’re awesome, you are literally a hero!” I shouted as my voice echoed and my wings flared out. “You’re already my princess, why not accept them making you into a real life one?” “I’d literally be immortal damn it!” Sunset snapped back. “I’d be outliving you, Lyra, mom and my sisters. And my aunts. Don’t forget Rainbow, Cloudkicker and all the others! I don’t want that.” “Then they would find a way to make us all immortal damn it,” I shot back and Sunset stared at me with a stunned expression. I almost never swear. “You should have just accepted it!” “Fuck that!” Sunset shouted and stood up. “I’d rather not be immortal and be lonely. I’ve already been lonely once. I don’t want to be again.” All my anger evaporated as my eyes widened. “I’m sorry for yelling at you,” I muttered and nuzzled her. “Me too,” Sunset sighed and quickly returned the gesture. “I assume that was our first fight.” “Yeah I guess it was,” I admitted sheepishly and hugged her. “Let’s never do it again.” “Agreed,” Sunset hugged me back as we fell silent and Sunset returned to her work. “I’ve been thinking-” “Dangerous for you,” I quipped with a smile. “I’m serious Derpy,” Sunset said as she glanced up at me and my smile faded. “Go on,” I said and sat down on my haunches next to her. “We’ve been through a lot in these past few months that we’ve been dating I’d say,” Sunset said casually as she held a hammer in her magic. “Yeah I’d say we have. Sirens, anon a miss, the changelings,” I said and pressed my hoof on the table. We hadn’t been dating during the sirens but minor detail. “Precisely,” Sunset nodded her agreement. “Which is why we should run off to Los Pegasus, get super drunk and married in a day. We’ve already been through more than most people can say. So what do you say?” “I’d say yes but we are still in high-school,” I started as Sunset’s face fell. “We don’t know the first thing about that.” “So that’s a no then,” Sunset sighed quietly as she slammed her head against the table. “Yeah,” I said quietly as my eyes widened slightly. I forced her head up with a hoof and stared at her. “Not no forever though! When we became eighteen or twenty one, ask me again and I’ll say yes in a heart beat. I’m yours.” “Really?” Sunset asked as she grinned. “Really,” I agreed as I kissed her. I pushed Sunset back before she could kiss me back and I laid on the table in front of her seductively. “And now time for my hero to get her reward.” Sunset’s grin grew as she shut the light off and kissed me as she climbed on the table and massaged my wing. “You know someone could walk in on us right?” “Sounds like a problem for later.” “How are you feeling?” Lyra asked me as we watched Octavia, Lightning and Lavender get the same medal Sunset has placed around their necks. “Tired,” I admitted as Celestia placed some medals on Starlight, Discord, Thorax and Trixie’s necks. “I could use a nap.” “I meant with Sunset,” Lyra clarified as she frowned. “You guys went at it after we left. I could hear the shouting as I ran away down the hall.” “I thought you went to help your counterpart?” I pointed out as I glanced at her. “Oh right!” Lyra laughed and rubbed the back of her neck. “That’s what I meant to say!” I said nothing and just stared at her as she nervously looked away. “You’re a bad liar,” I said flatly as I turned back to staring ahead at Octavia. “But yeah we’re good. Don’t really plan to have a fight again.” “Well they’re kinda unavoidable,” Bon Bon added as she patted me on the back. “Trust me, if I could avoid the fights Lyra and I have, we’d be golden. It’s like every month I do something to annoy or she does something to annoy me.” “She’s right,” Lyra chimed in. “Like how she moves my unicorn figurine collection without asking me. That really makes me mad.” “Because you never dust under them!” Bon Bon shot back with a glare. “Who cares? The dust is under the figurines. No one looks under them!” Lyra grumbled with a glare. “It’s not about looking under them Lyra. It’s about knowing it’s there!” I rolled my eyes and quietly slipped away as they continued arguing with some of the ponies in crowd stepping back nervously.
