Chapter Twenty

Octavia

With a pained groan, I shoved the weird green cocoon thing off me as I faintly made out the others doing the same. I shakily stood and stared at Sunset next to me trying to stand up.

“Don’t,” I warned as I pushed her down with a hoof. “You have a broken leg love. You took quite the beating. Had me worried there.” Terrified me was a more accurate statement. I thought she was dead when I stumbled upon Chrysalis choking her.

“Okay,” Sunset groaned as she complied. Derpy and Twilight galloped over as Derpy nuzzled her.

“Thank the stars you’re alive,” Derpy sighed and wrapped a wing around her. “We couldn’t see anything but we could hear you and the one meanie fighting.”

“You got a broken leg as Octavia said,” Twilight said as she patted Sunset on the back as her horn glowed. “That spell should help with the pain till we get you to Redheart or another doctor.”

“Okay,” Sunset muttered as Derpy and I helped her up. “Can you get mom and the others here? Dinky and Sea Swirl?”

“Yeah you got it,” Twilight nodded as her horn flashed and Cheerilee staggered to her hooves along with Berry and the others.

“Sunset!” Cheerilee shouted as she and the others galloped over. “What the hell happened to you?”

“May or may have tried to fight Chrysalis by myself,” Sunset said and winced. “Octavia here bailed me.” Berry and Cherry looked over her cuts and scrapes as Moondancer knelt down next to her.

“Thank you Octavia,” Silver Spoon said as she and Diamond Tiara hugged me as I faintly blushed at the fillies hugging me.

“Think nothing of it loves,” I said and smiled down at them.

“Where are we?” Rainbow asked as she stood up.

“Changeling kingdom,” Lightning said as she and Lavender stood up. Lavender had a cut mark on her back and Lightning had a scratch on her chest.

“Oh no,” Equestrian Lyra muttered as she, Twinkleshine and Equestrian Minuette hugged each other. Some rocks that had been the throne got shoved aside and Chrysalis stood ontop of it. Everyone glared at her as Starlight cautiously approached her.

“Finish her off Starlight!” Adagio called out angrily as she watched. “Do it now!”

“You can come with me,” Starlight offered as she held out a hoof to Chrysalis. “You don’t have to be alone. You can be the leader your kind deserves.” Chrysalis gazed at her and stretched a hoof out before smacking her hoof away.

“Never!” Chrysalis shouted as Sunset’s horn started glowing along with Moondancer, Sea Swirl, Equestrian Lyra, Minuette, Twinkleshine, Amethyst and Lemon Hearts as they all glared angrily at her. “You will pay for this Starlight Glimmer!” She shoved Starlight into Lavender and Lightning as she ran away.

“Coward!” Lightning called out to the changeling running into the desert. Moondancer stood on top of the rock and shot a hole in her wing as Chrysalis screamed and disappeared into the distance.

“Octavia!” Vinyl called out as she hugged me.

“Bonnie! Lyra!”” Sweetie Drops said as she hugged our Bon Bon and Lyra. “Thank the gods.”

“So what now?” Sea Swirl asked aloud as Equestrian Bon Bon produced binoculars from her bag and scanned the horizon. She and Equestrian Lyra had sunglasses on for some reason.

“We work to get the changelings introduced to pony culture,” Celestia said as she and Sunset pointedly made an effort to stay a few feet away as they glanced at each other before quickly looking away. “I hope you and I can work together to get our kinds to work together Thorax.”

“As do I,” Thorax agreed as I glanced at the brightly colored changeling. He and the other changelings looked completely different from what I remembered.

I sat next to Sunset at a table in Starlights village. Starlight decided to come back with us all as guests. Sunset had a cast on her leg that matched her fur and a bunch of bandages on her barrel.

“You feeling okay?” I asked as Derpy sat on her left with a wing wrapped around her. Sunset and Celestia kept glancing at each other before hastily looking away. “Penny for your thoughts love?”

“Is that your catch phrase?” Sunset snorted with a smirk.

“Maybe,” I admitted with a smirk of my own. “Yours is my past is not today so.”

“You should talk to her, you know?” Derpy commented as she kissed Sunset’s cheek. “I’m sure Celestia would be happy to talk to you again.”

“I want to,” Sunset admitted as she traced her hoof on the table.

“But?” I pressed as Sunset looked at me.

“But she probably hates me,” Sunset answered as she held up a hoof to Derpys mouth. “Hear me out. I know it’s fifty fifty that she could hate me and she couldn’t but I was pretty problematic and I’m off my anxiety meds because we forgot them. And plus, I want to sort out my issues with Sunburst and Spitfire before I even try with Celestia.”

“That does make some sense,” I said after a moment and Derpy nodded. “Sorting your issues with your family does take precedence.”

“But Celestia is right here,” Derpy pointed out. “Why not take advantage of it?”

“If she comes up to me,” Sunset began and shakily levitated a glass of water to her mouth. “I’ll talk to her.”

Derpy and I looked at each other before shrugging. That did sound like a pretty fair compromise. Neither of us really wanted to push her on the matter either.

“You really scared me there you know?” Derpy muttered as she hugged Sunset. “Don’t ever do that again. I thought you were going to die.”

“Hey I’m too cool to die!” Sunset boasted with a grin as Derpy rolled her eyes.

“I’m serious Sunset,” Derpy warned her sternly as Sunset frowned. “Don’t do it again.”

“I’ll try,” Sunset whispered as she looked between me and her. “For both of you. Thank you Octavia by the way. You pretty much saved my life. I owe you my life.”

“And I owe you mine,” I bowed my head slightly. “The whole sirens deal.”

“I hope Chrysalis comes back now that I have my magic,” Sunset sighed wistfully as I ate a cupcake. “She messed with the wrong bitch.”

“Why on earth would you want that?” Derpy demanded as she stared at her. Sunset cracked a grin as she wrapped her hooves around our shoulders.

“For a fair fight of course!”

Derpy rolled her eyes as she smacked Sunset upside the head with a wing as I groaned. We both smirked slightly and sighed.
