//------------------------------// // Investigation and Doubts // Story: Pinkamena 7: Rehabilitation // by Pinkamena666 //------------------------------// May burst through the front door of her house and headed to the couch in the living room. Dawn got up and trotted over to the door. "You okay?" she asked, closing the door. "I... I-I... I..." stammered May. "s-s-saw another m-m-m-murrrderrr..." Dawn went wide-eyed. "ANother murder?" May nodded. "A-A-And I c-c-caught a g-glimpse o-of the m-m-murderer." Dawn quickly trotted over to the couch and sat down. "You did?" she asked. "Who was it?" "I-I don't know." said May. "I only saw her hind leg when she rounded the corner." "How do you know it was a mare?" "She was pink." Dawn let out a small gasp. "You think it's..." "I don't know!" cried May. "I hope not." Just then the front door opened. Dawn looked over her shoulder and then back at May. "It's Pinkie." she whispered. "Stop crying and act natural." May nodded and wiped the tears from her eyes. Pinkamena closed the door and trotted passed the couch, heading towards the hallway. "Enjoy your walk?" asked Dawn. Pinkamena said nothing. She reached the end of the hall and took the stairs to the top floor where the master bedroom was. "Oh, Pinkie." whispered May. Pinkamena was laying down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. An image of Strawberry flashed through her mind. She held her head with both hooves. "Stop it." she whispered. More images of her victims flooded her mind. "Stop it. Stop it. Stop it." she repeated. The images became more intense. "Stop it! STOP IT!" May watched from the doorway, tears in her eyes. "Oh, sweetie. I'm so sorry." Pinkamena finally quieted down and May entered the room, heading to her side of the bed, She slid in the covers and put a hoof around the pink mare. Pinkamena slowly opened her eyes halfway. "May?" asked the pink mare. "Hey, Pinks." "When'd you get here?" "Just now. Sorry to wake you." "No..." said Pinkamena, shaking her head slightly and sniffling. "I'm actually glad you did. You see... I wanna talk to you about something." "Really?" asked May. "About what?" "Well..." said Pinkamena, looking away slightly. "I'm afraid I may be... getting those urges... again." "Urges?" "To... kill." "Oh, Pinkie. Don't say things like that." "But I've been having images of dead bodies and... I just don't know. Today, I... I a--" "Look, sweetie." said May, placing a hoof on Pinkamena's cheek. "I'm gonna help you through this." Pinkamena smiled. "I loe you, May." "I love you, too." May leaned in to kiss her on the cheek, but Pinkamena tilted her hesd, causing May to kiss her on the lips. May was a bit surprised as she wasn't expecting that, but she closed her eyes and leaned into it further. After a few seconds, the two slowly separated and stared into each other's eyes, smiling. May looked over Pinkamena at the open doorway. Pinkamena looked over her shoulder and saw the open door. "Does Dawn stay up late?" she asked. "Usually." Pinkamena looked back at May. The red mare eyed her and smiled, using her magic to close the door. Pinkamena awoke that night with a yawn. She looked over at May, who had her fore hoof on her chest. Pinkamena slowly and gently removed the hoof. May let out a groan. Pinkamena smiled and kissed her on the forehead. She then got out of bed and left the room. The next morning, May awoke to yelling from downstairs. She flung the covers off and ran to the source of the voices. "I already told you!" yelled Pinkamena. "It wasn't me!" "Well, who else could've done it?!" yelled the Royal Guard pegasus. "HOW SHOULD I KNOW?!" "Listen, here, Pinkie..." spat the guard. "Everything was fine around here until you showed up with all your killings. BAck in Ponyville? Yeah... The only one in this town that kills like that... is you." "That's a lie!!!" yelled Pinkamena. May trotted into the room and stopped. "What's going on?" "Are you May?" asked the guard. "Y-Yeah... Why are you yelling at my fiance?" "Your fiance, huh?" asked the guard. "Well, are you aware of what kind of pony she is?" "Yeah." said May. "I was there. I'm the one that helped her stop. She's been in the asylum for all these years, getting help." "The asylum?" asked the guard. "Oh, you mean the one that blew up? Right... Well, are you aware she's killed again? "I DID NOT!!!" Pinkamena protested. "We found a body a few blocks from here." the guard said. "He didn't have a head." May put a hoof to her mouth to keep from vomiting. "And you think it was Pinkie?" she asked. "Who else?" May looked at Pinkamena and then back at the guard. "It wasn't her. I'm sure of it." She sounded unsure. "The killer... was a pink mare..." May went wide-eyed but then shook away her shock. "I can account for her whereabouts." "Oh, can you?" asked the Royal Guard. My nodded. "She was with me." Pinkamena let out a small gasp. The guard eyed her and then looked at May. "Are you... positive?" he asked. May nodded. "Yes. We were, uh... you know... in the bedr--" The guard held up a hoof to silence her. "Please, ma'am. I don't need to know your private life." "S-Sorry..." "And you're sure?" "Yes. I'm sure." The colt hesitated but nodded and lowered his hoof. "All right, ma'am. Sorry for the... trouble." "You're just... doing your job." "And if you hear anything--" the guard started. "I'll let the Royal Guard know," said May. The colt slowly turned, eyeing Pinkamena before heading out the door. May trotted over to it and closed the door, not turning around. "M-May?" asked Pinkamena. "Did you do it?" asked May softly. "Wh... What?" asked the pink mare, sounding hurt. "Y-You don't think I had something to do with this." May said nothing. Pinkamena ran up to her worriedly. "May... Please..." She wiped tears from her eyes. May turned around and smiled. "No. I don't." She then hugged the pink mare. Pinkamena smiled. "Thank you, May." "You're welcome, baby." May said, looking a little uncertain.
