Minecraft: Dusk Beam's Journey

The End

Entry: The End.

These final words come through an Ender Chest from The End.

I did it.

I have slain the Ender Dragon, and my portal home lays open.

Up until this point there is a subject I have neglected: Myself. My name is Dusk Beam, and my special talent is flying in darkness. In low light, my indigo feathers and fur make me virtually invisible. The End is shrouded in eternal twilight. The whole realm appealed to my gift.

The End is strange even compared to the Nether.

It is an island of pale End Stone floating in a static tinged void. There is nothing but obsidian columns topped with huge volatile crystals and hundreds of Ender Ponies.

Heed my warning! The crystals atop the spires not only heal the Ender Dragon, they explode. Often with the force of several blocks of TNT. Use arrows. Trust me. This battle, more than any other, made me thankful for my wings.

This was the greatest test of my mettle, of my courage that I have ever faced in this world. And I had to face it alone. It was an aerial duel like out of the pegasi legends of old. I can sympathize with the heroes out of those legends. We traded blows to shake the heavens. Almost all my precious potions are gone. Every piece of diamond plate was tested against the claws and teeth of one of the deadliest creatures to ever live.

The final strike was delivered by my spear through the dragon’s heart. When I smote my foe for the final time and threw his ruins down, the dragon’s body dissolved into a bright purple light and became the portal frame. Atop the portal, there was an egg, speckled purple like obsidian.

After much consideration, I have decided to bring it with me. Life is precious. Maybe it would be safer, maybe wiser to just leave it behind, but do we not all deserve a chance?

These will hopefully, or perhaps mournfully, be the last words I leave here.

If given the choice to have never come to the Overworld, would I take it? Well, perhaps some questions are better left unanswered.

Never forget, this world is yours, Miner. From wood to stone, iron to diamond, Overworld to The End, with your Minecraft, anything is possible.
