Moon Sugar : Feelings

Ponyville shined brightly in Luna’s night. While most citizens of Ponyville were fast asleep at such a time; the two equine figures within the Ponyville Library were far from slumber. A cyan pegasus lie sprawled on her back in the basement, otherwise Twilight’s private experimenting area, her eyes finally open after a few minutes of struggle.

I feel... so... tired... so.. weak...

Dash finally regained consciousness. Twilight was beside her around a whole pile of books, her mane was disheveled, and she seemed to be struggling to push a spell out of her horn. She looked horribly jet lagged, and her face seemed to be stained with tears.

“Twilight.. what.. happened to me...” She murmured in between heavy breathes. Twilight gasped as she looked back at Rainbow.

“Twilight.. What happened to me!?” Her anger started to flare up.

“I.. I..” Tears started to roll down her cheeks.

“What?!”

“That purple drink... It was a.... drug..” By now, she was sobbing uncontrollably.

Everything made sense now. Twilight had consumed drugs, and now she had too. A surge of angry and confused emotions went through Rainbow. Why would Twilight do this to herself? Will this affect my flying? What if it ruins my dream of becoming a Wonderbolt?

“You... you monster!” Those were the only words Rainbow could say. She lifted herself from the floor, feeling completely fatigued and weakly flew out of the basement and out of Twilight’s house. The lavender mare could only look at her friend just leave, and she felt utterly meaningless.

-----------------------------------------

Why am I crying? Stop it Rainbow! Stop crying!

Rainbow just couldn’t control her tears, and all she wanted was just to return home to get some rest. For some reason, whether the thoughts were good or bad, she just couldn’t stop thinking about Twilight.

I hate you so much Twilight.. You’re just a filthy pony.

All the memories they had together, how they first met, how they defeated villains like Nightmare Moon and Discord, how they just spent time together and many others, were now scarred. Rainbow always knew Twilight was different from her other friends, and she always felt a little... happier around her. She loved the fact that she was a bookworm, which made her so unique compared to other ponies. But all these feelings and memories, were now washed down the drain.

Do I.. like her? No.. Shut up. She’s disgusting. Oh Celestia. What in the hay is wrong with me.

“Erm.. Rainbow.. are you okay?”

Rainbow looked up, to see her shy pegasus friend with a saddle loaded with pet food on her back.

“I just need some time alone..” Rainbow trotted off in a manner that made it clear that she didn't want Fluttershy to bother her.

Fluttershy just stood there flabbergasted.

Oh no.. It’s all my fault. If only I had stopped Twilight from buying those weird stuff, all these might not have happened.

-----------------------------------------

Rainbow finally reached the bottom of her cloudhouse. Using every bit of energy she had left, she launched into the sky, and on to the corridor of her house. She immediately regretted the sudden burst of speed, it caused her vision to splinter and whole body to become agonizingly cold. She was so drained now that she could not even walk on her hooves.

Come on.. Just a little more...

She tried to drag her lifeless body into her house, but failed. Her insides started to burn in agonizing protest. Her vision slurred, and soon she drifted out of consciousness.

-----------------------------------------

The wide variety of adorable critters would usually put a hearty smile on Fluttershy's face when she returns home. It was something she always looks forward to, her pets expressing their happiness every time their owner returns. But today was different, the animals didn’t seem to cheer her up. She entered her home with a huge gloomy look, and all her animals could only look at her, feeling bad for her. She unloaded the saddle and put the pet food on the floor. Angel ran up to her as usual, shrugging his arms, giving her a curious look.

“Oh Angel, It’s all my fault. If only I had stopped Twilight, all these might not have happened.”

Angel shrugged again, this time harder.

“If only I stopped Twilight from buying those strange potions.. Then Twilight and Rainbow might have not gotten into all this trouble.”

Fluttershy went into her bathroom and closed the door behind her, leaving a slightly irritated bunny. She turned on the bathtub, adjusting the temperature of the water to just the way she wanted. She got in, and she thought the warm bathe would calm her down, but it did not.

He pointed to the door and gestured a fist repeatedly knocking his other hand.

“You think I should do something about it?”

He nodded his head.

“But what if I only make matters worse for them..”

Angel just crossed his arms.

“Oh okay Angel... I’ll be back really soon, you wait here alright?

He angrily pointed at the door and did the running man.

“Oh. Right.” Fluttershy left her cottage and took off the ground.

The night was now pitch dark, and only the sounds of crickets and owls filled Ponyville. The solemn darkness made flying hard for the timid pegasus. Fluttershy already had Rainbow's house in her sights, although it was still quite a distance away.

All the lights are off.. Is she sleeping? Oh.. I hope she’s okay..

Fluttershy got closer and closer to her house, and she saw a cyan figure on the surface, and she hoped what she saw was not true, but as she got closer, the reality hit her. She widened her eyes at the horrible scene before her; Rainbow was as still as the grave, lying flat on her stomach, just outside her doorstep.

“Oh no! Rainbow, wake up!”

A horrible thought thrust its way into Fluttershy's mind. She placed one ear over Rainbow's chest and listened closely.

Fluttershy heard what she was listening for. It was very faint, but the recognizable sound of a heartbeat worked its way up to her ear. She let out a huge sigh of relief. For a while back there she thought she had lost a lifelong friend. She knelt down and elevated the unconscious Rainbow Dash, adjusting her pegasus friend over her shoulder.

“Hang on Rainbow.. I’ll get you some help.. Just hang on..”

Rainbow's limp body hung off her shoulders, shaking slightly. She readied her wings, and took off the cloud surface. She was definitely not used to carrying another pony on her back while flying, and it made every flap of her wing energy draining. But she knew she couldn’t afford to let her tiredness affect her friend’s safety. She struggled to fly as hard as she could, her destination being the Ponyville Emergency centre.

-----------------------------------------

Of course! I'll always be loyal to my friends. But did you do anything bad?

That sentence painfully repeated itself through Twilight’s head. The depressed unicorn had been bawling her eyes out for Celestia knows how long now. Rainbow claimed she would be loyal, yet again, she couldn't blame her. After all, Twilight was the one who screwed up, and now, it was time for her to pay the price. No one could understand her. No one could feel her pain. No one could help. She was alone.

She slowly lifted herself up from the floor. She looked at her table, and the moon sugar was still there, nicely on the experiment dish. Three days, surprisingly no ants or mold. The small amount of white powder now had painful emotional bonds attached to it.

Come on Twilight. Just take a snort. It’ll melt your troubles away!

“No!” Twilight screamed, her voice echoing through the dark basement. It took her a long moment to realize she actually screaming at herself. She brought her head to her hooves and sobbed quietly for a long while.

Just one snort. It’ll make you happy.

“Shut up!” She screamed again. She was overwhelmed by her emotions now. She lifted herself up, and started to trot nearer and nearer to the Moon Sugar.

What’s happening? Why am I walking towards that horrible thing? No.. Stop.. Stop Twilight.. Please, just stop...

It was like her fleshly body was in control of her now. It was like somepony else was controlling her, Twilight just wanted to throw that horrible junk away, yet she couldn’t. A part of her just needed that sugar in her system and she just couldn’t stop going closer to the drug.

I’m sorry Rainbow.. I’m sorry Princess Celestia.. I’m just a failure. I’m a weakling.

She was facing the drug now. She dipped her hoof in it.. It was now just a few centimeters away from her mouth.

Don’t do it Twilight. You know you are going to regret. All your friends will hate you forever.

Tears were flowing freely now. She could not describe the tornado of emotions, it was an overload of anger, bitterness and fear. Her heart was beating so fast it felt like it could pop out of her chest anytime.

I’m sorry. I have failed everypony. And I have failed myself.

Twilight painstakingly shoved the small hoof-full of sugar in her mouth. Immediately, she collapsed onto the floor on her rump. She could only bawl her eyes out and groan at the horror she had just done.

Oh Celestia. I’m a monster. I’m a bucking monster.

Any regrets would have been too late now. The sugar started to get into her bloodstream. Soon, she melted into wonderland, her body literally giving wild spasms at the waves of pure, unadulterated pleasure that circulated her whole body.

Woaaaahhhhh... I’m so higghhh now.. Haha... So high....
