//------------------------------// // -1- The Inspiration // Story: Twilight Sparkle, the Writer // by BluPony //------------------------------// Twilight Sparkle, the Writer The Blu Arc ~~~~Chapter 1~~~~ ~~~~The Inspiration~~~~ Dear Princess Celestia, A new stallion wandered into town from Manehattan... As usual when somepony walks into town, Pinkie threw a party, but, this stallion was different about it... He was shy at first, like Fluttershy, but when he warmed up to us, he seemed so, cool. 20% Cooler, as Rainbow Dash put it. I have gained quite a liking to him, but, I don't know if he will grow a liking to me... I had lost inspiration to write to you about friendship, however amazing it has already shown, but with this new colt in town I may be able to write about something more than friendship, I hope. With high hopes and a determined heart, your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle P.S. His name is Blu, not Blue. Since I will be writing his name more often I thought I might mention that. ~~~~Earlier that day~~~~ Twilight trotted down the street casually. She had skipped breakfast due to having a plan to join Rarity and Pinkie Pie for brunch. A gurgling sound made itself known as she walked along. She smiled timidly as she drifted to her thoughts. ‘Maybe a small oat bar would have done nicely before deciding to skip breakfast...’ "Twilight!" Pinkie Pie called from the table, breaking Twilight from her thoughts as she trotted over to the table. "You super hungry, Twi? I could hear that belly from way over here!" she giggled. Rarity gave a small chuckle as the lavender pony sat down on the seat and smiled sheepishly. "Good morning darling. How was your morning?" "Oh, not too bad. Spike was being a little lazy this morning and slept in, but I let him since it was a bit of a restless night last night." she said as she remembered the night before. It was so flustering that she forgot about the time and ranted on to Spike till it was two hours past his bedtime and he usually got up early anyway. That was part of the reason she needed to talk with Rarity and Pinkie Pie. "So we heard..." Rarity remarked. All three ponies ordered their usual brunch items, daffodil sandwiches, grass shakes, along with Pinkie Pie's idea of a sugary pick-me-up, cheesecake. Twilight told them about the issue she was having with friendship to her friends as they waited for their orders to come. "I just don't have anything interesting to write about. All of my letter attempts to the Princess since a few days ago have either been torn into pieces, stored in case I think of something else relating to the topic, or just plain never been put down to parchment." "You’re stressing out a bit too much, Twilight. You just have to wait until something comes up. My ideas don't flow very easily but when they do, I'm sketching the design in no time, even if the style isn't in season quite yet. Patience is a common element, even if it's not one of the main six." Rarity explained to her flustered friend. Pinkie was tapping her hooves on the table as they talked. She had a slight idea that could work for Twilight. Friendship was amazing, especially to her since she was friends with every pony in town, but there was still something missing. Twilight had friendship down to a science, or at least enough so that she was having trouble discovering new things about it. What she needed was something more than just a simple friendship: a relationship! The pink mare caught a glimpse of a light blue colored pony out of the corner of her eye. A bit of excitement showed up onto her face as Twilight caught a glimpse of the pony as well. Curiosity overcame her as the lavender mare looked back to her pink friend. "Pinkie..." she started. "Who is that? I haven't seen any blue ponies of that shade before, or at least not that I can remember." "I dunno. He must be new!" the puffy-maned pony responded happily. "Hey! Blue pony! Hiiiiiiiiiii!" She waved excitedly at the pony, which caught his attention and he looked around to see if there was any other blue ponies to be seen. Hoping she was talking to him, he turned to trot to the table, giving off a small smile. "Erm, hi there. I'm a little lost so maybe you could help me out. Do you know where Daisy Street is? One of my mare friends from here recommended I look at a house there since I was thinking of moving to a more quiet spot, but not one too out in the open." the light blue colt told the three. His voice started out a bit high, but quickly moved to a more stallion sounding voice as he grew a bit less shy. "Sure!" the party pony replied excitedly. "If you don't mind waiting until we finish up brunch, we can take you over!" "Why not-" he started, but Twilight jumped in quickly. "Pinkie has a habit of throwing a party for each new pony that comes to Ponyville, that's why she'd rather us show you around to see where you’re moving to. Err, where you might be moving to." she blushed a bit. She too had been a bit eager to talk to this new colt. It was more often that mares came to town then colts, and the fact that the town held a very high percentage of mare owned houses. The fact that a stallion dared to came to look at a house here was quite rare, and that excited the lavender unicorn. Rarity sat back and sipped her grass shake, eyeing him curiously. She was seeing the potential in the light blue stallion, however shy he may seem to be. He was at least worth a shot for Twilight, and seeing her jump in like that proved her suspicions. There was one thing bugging her though... "Darling, before we show you around, do you mind being a gentlecolt and introducing yourself?" She asked. "Ohh, I'm sorry. My name is Blu." he said, blushing from both Twilight's previous blush and the fact that he probably should have to introduced himself since he talked about moving here and it would be a good start to make some friends. "Blue? Like the color Blue? And the color of your mane and your fur? That's awesome!" Pinkie jumped back into the conversation. "My name is Pinkie Pie! Like my hair and fur too! Oh, and these are my friends, Twilight Sparkle and Rarity!" She giggled, pointing to each pony as they gave small waves. "Nice to meet you all. Oh, and my name doesn't have an “E” at the end, just pointing that out now since a lot of ponies assume it's Blue, but it sounds the same, so it might not matter too much." He rambled sheepishly while decreasing in volume as the sentence wore on. Rarity and Pinkie agreed that it wouldn't really matter and nodded their heads, but Twilight made a mental note of it. She was keen on getting names right and one's spelling matters, especially if they bother to mention it. Blu felt awkward and decided to leave the general area. "I'm gonna wait at the corner here until you mares are done, okay? I don't want to make things too awkward, so I’ll talk to you in a bit." he mentioned as he started trotting away. "We won't be too long!" the lavender-shaded pony called as he left. She was still eager to see if he decided to move to Ponyville. "Pinkie, will you finish my cheesecake?" she asked her pink friend, who nodded excitedly. "Well then..." Rarity looked at her unicorn friend as she finished up her own cheesecake. "Perhaps this was what you had in mind?" she smirked as the pink earth pony gobbled down the cheesecake beside her. Twilight looked at the light blue pony from afar, ignoring Rarity's comment and gathered more information on how he looked. He was a unicorn. He looked to be related to Trixie, but he seemed quite different personality-wise. She would have to dig a little to confirm her suspicions though. Focusing back on the pony, she noticed something. His cutie mark was a blank piece of parchment with a quill beside it. Usually, from what she knew, if he had a talent for writing, there would be squiggles on the parchment representing words. She would ask about that too. Was it fate that she met Blu right when her studies of friendship were getting less and less interesting? The lavender mare shook her head, she was getting way too ahead of herself. Everything was finished so Rarity paid the bits for the trio. Pinkie was still a bit hyperactive, like usual, but the cheesecake boost was quite nice for the pink mare. "Alright girls, lets show a stallion around." The white unicorn smiled as they walked away from the cafe. ~~~~~~~~
