//------------------------------// // Prologue // Story: My little Capsuleer // by LeHarfang //------------------------------// The universe of New Eden is a harsh one for a new capsuleer. Once you've finished your studies at one of your factional academy, you're pretty much on your own in the infinity of space. A lot of new capsuleers abandon their career early to return living on planets or in stations in orbit above those. There they move on to a more sedentary life. And for those who manages to continue and explore the thing we call space, a lot of riches awaits them. They will fight a lot of battles, will lose a lot of ships and will even die a lot, each time to be reborn as a clone. Whether all of this will be worth it is, of course, very personal. Each individual makes its own discoveries in the world of Eve, as some call it since the Eve wormhole collapse, and forge its own destiny. Some will become CEOs and lead corporations of all sizes and some of those CEOs will become executors and will lead alliances, which are groups of corporations, of all sizes. The rest do more common stuff like mining, manufacturing, fighting, etc. In New Eden, there are as many jobs a pilot can do as there are stars in it. As life is affected by its environment, humanity has never been different. From the solar systems of New Eden, different races were born and different factions, formed in space. The four most influential and populated are the Amarr, the Gallente, the Caldari and the Minmattar. Divided by two major conflicts, tensions are still running between the Gallente-Minmatar alliance and the Amarr-Caldari one, and border systems are highly disputed by the militia, formed from volunteer capsuleers, fighting for each sides. At one point, they did manage to put their differences aside and form a united security force in the name of Concord. Today, as conflicts started yet again, Concord operates as its own faction and independently of the four factions politics and and still carry its goal of assuring security in empire controlled systems. In all of New Eden, few security forces can act as efficiently as they can. They intervene only in non-solicited attacks and let the militiamen to the faction navies who patrol each Star Gates and main station. Solar systems aren't really close from each other and warping technology is too limited to travel efficiently between those and that's where star gates became useful. They allowed single ships to travel at the speed of light between systems and greatly reduce traveling time and fuel cost. Anomalies such as wormholes, allow for the same kind of travel, although to unknown space and some capsuleers started building star bases in them, to extract these systems ressources.
