//------------------------------// // Final Letter // Story: Letters From The Front // by Epsilon_Eleven //------------------------------// The crowded train station was filled with many anxious families, waiting for their son to return from the war. They weren't sure if they would see their sons on the train. But if they did, it was happiness they see. But those who don't... It was a different story. Yet the train hadn't arrived yet. There was no sight of the train, chatters are loudly heard on the station. It was barely audible for anypony to listen. Among these families are two mares awaiting patiently for the train to arrive. Both bit their lower lips, unsure if what they feared the most was true or not. Then, the Trains were seen, approaching from the horizon and making its way to the station. There was a loud cheers from everypony on the station, they were eager to see their own relative on the Train. The Train had finally arrived in the small town. But both of the mares, young and the older one. Looked around at the station anxiously, the now unloading Train has unloaded its passenger but yet, no sign of the pony they're looking for. Everywhere they see, families hugging each other, some still looking just like them. A Stallion wearing a custom purple armor with a gold outline, accompanied with two golden armored Royal Guard. Approached the two mares and greeted them. At first, both frowned upon the familiar figure of Shining Armor. General of the Royal Equestrian Army, both being unsure of why did he came all the way here. Until Shining Armor call them the name "Light Sheer" and looked at them with a sad face. The older mare, realized what happen and breaks into tears, falling to her knees. The young one tries to comfort her but no success, she then she demanded an explanation from him. Shining Armor then floated out an envelope, stained with dry blood on the bottom left of the envelope. Giving it to her, she quickly opened it and read it... Realizing, it was the final letter from her brother. She finally broke into tears after finishing the letter, accompanying her mother who were already crying in the cold floor of the station. The letter reads: 30th July Hello, if you're reading these then... Well. I died in battle. I wrote this before the attack of the capital just to let you know, that I... really loved you guys. I was going to be home with you but... just in case something happened. I wrote this letter to tell you that I... had died. I know you are waiting for me in the Station, but seems like you will never find me there. I told somepony a favor to bring this letter in case anything happened to me. So, I'm sorry if I broke my promises to you sister, but I can't be there. With you. Instead, I'll be up here. Watching you. Yeah, I'm a jerk, but I can't blame myself for what happened. All I can tell is that you must live on without me. It maybe hard but at least try, it only saddened me if I see my family broken. Remember, you are not alone who suffered. This is my last letter to you sister, mother. I apologized for everything. Your Brother and Son. Light Sheer.
