//------------------------------// // New World, Same Enemy // Story: The Arrival of The Blue Exorcist // by Dash Attack //------------------------------// Light poured into Rin’s eyes as his eyelids began to open. When the light finally dimmed he began to examine himself and his surroundings. “Where am I?” was the first thought that came to his mind. His body was resting on a couch, his head propped up by two pillows. In addition, someone had been kind enough to place a large purple blanket on his body. To say that he felt snug would be an understatement.  The room around him and in fact most of the furniture was made of wood. From this, he figured that he was in some sort of cabin. “I must have fallen unconscious during the fight,” he thought to himself. “But where am I exactly and who brought me here?” “Oh my goodness you’re awake!” rang a gentle but surprised voice. The exorcist in training turned his head towards the source, what he saw shocked him.  Nearby, however, a few feet above him, was a yellow pony with wings. “I tried to make sure you were as comfortable as pos-.” “Sweet Jesus a talking pony!” Rin shouted as his face lit up (metaphorically) with a wide smile that completely exposed his fangs. “And it's FLYING!” “Please don’t startle me.” The pegasus whimpered, drew back a bit as Rin hoped out of the bed to look at her. As she retreated she could see Rins tail swishing back and forth with excitement. “Please, sweet Celestia don’t eat me!” “Eat you?” Rin asked? “Am I scaring you?” When no answer was given, Rin made a conscious effort to relax his tail in response to Fluttershy. “That better?” The pegasus nodded. “A little. The fact that you're asking probably means you're not interested in biting me with those fangs of yours.” “Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about my teeth.” Rin laughed. “Most people don’t even notice how sharp they are.” Fluttershy took a deep sigh of relief at Rin’s reassurance that he wasn’t going to pounce or maul her. “I’m sorry for getting worried. You seem like such a nice… well…what are you exactly?” Rin paused for a moment as he recalled all the trouble of not being straightforward about his heritage caused him back at the Cram-School.  He also knew bluntly telling people would also cause a problem like it did with his friend Godain. This time he would have to choose his words carefully, especially with something as timed as this creature. “Let's just say I’m human for now.” He finally said with a warm smile. “It’s a bit more complicated than that but I’ll gladly tell you more about it later. Anyway, my name is Rin Okumura. Whats yours?” Fluttershy smiled as the look of concern on her face faded. “It’s nice to meet you Rin Okumura. My name is Fluttershy. I’m a pegasus pony as you can see.” “That’s so freaking cool,” Rin said taking a few steps closer. “Tell me, what is something as adorable as you doing in Japan?” She giggled as she landed gently on the floor. “I’ve never heard of that place. Is that where you’re from?” Rin nodded. “Yeah. That pharaoh octopus thing must have sent me someplace else when he grabbed me and my friends.” She quizzically tilted her head in response to Rins odd statement “Pharoah Octopus?” The two of them spent a couple of hours exchanging information. During that time, Rin was able to figure out that this land called Equestria was not of the realm of humanity. He was also successful at telling Fluttershy about his demonic being while making clear that he himself wished to protect humanity by following in his adopted father’s footsteps. “Ever since I drew the sword and assumed my nature, I’ve felt out of place. Being feared and hated is never a good feeling, especially since the only crime I’ve committed is existing. Many in the order and in the church want me dead, and probably take great offense to me ever being one of them. Fortunately, I have a brother and friends who accept me despite being what I am.” Rin paused and looked into Fluttershy’s eyes, trying to read her face. “I know you’re probably a little too apprehensive now that I’ve told you the truth, but I know from experience that hiding it would only backfire. At least now we can get this part done earlier than later.” Fluttershy looked at the floor. “This is all so much… but you don’t seem like a monster.” She shook her head and looked firmly at him. “Well, I can say this at least. After listening to your story I feel decently sure that your heart is ultimately good Rin. I have a similar friend who’s worked really hard to be welcomed? Ponies mistrusted him because of bad things he did in the past. If Discord could break the bad stigma that surrounded him, then surely one day the exorcists see you as a friend?” “Maybe I was a tiny bit worried” Fluttershy laughed. “But I believe you and your intentions Rin patted Fluttershy’s mane. “Thanks, Fluttershy. You know you also remind me of a particular friend from back home.” “Her name wouldn’t happen to be Shiemi would it?” asked Fluttershy. “I heard you mutter that name when you were briefly conscious.” Rin nodded, his cheeks growing red at the thought of Shiemi. “Its just how gentle and kind you are. Even the softness of your voice. It's kind of creepy just how much you make me think of her.” The two of them continued to talk and laugh until finally, Rin stood up. “It was nice meeting you Fluttershy, but I kinda have to go look for my friends and find us away back home. I hope that Egyptian bastard didn’t send us all too different dimensions. ” “Please be careful.” Pleaded Fluttershy. “I know this may seem tranquil but Equestria can be dangerous.  I’d recommend seeking out Princess Twilight or Princess Celestia.” “Why don’t you come with me?” Rin asked as he offered a hand out to her. “I prefer not to.” She replied nervously. “But I’ve been on dangerous adventures before. I’ll take you to one of the princesses at least.” A sharp grin formed on Rin's face, and this time Fluttershy was no longer worried about those glimmering fangs of his. In the short time, Rin had been with her, she felt nothing but kindness from him. Even after he told her that he was a demon, nothing about his soul gave her that impression.                                                                 -------- “Yo Princess!” Rin shouted as he pounded on the door. “Open up!” “Rin stop that!” Fluttershy said scolding. “Wait for her or Spike to answer the door!” “But we need to hurry up!” He whined. “You told me this is a big country so I need to get ahead start!” As if on cue the door to the Twilights castle creaked open. From the corner of the door, a small purple/green scaly creature peaked out. “Twilights not home!” the lizard groaned. Rin tilted his head. “Wait! What’s Barney the Dinosaur doing here?” “My name is Spike and I’m a DRAGON!” Spike said with irritation clear in his voice. “Get it right you giant monkey thing!” “What’s going on Spike?” asked Fluttershy. “You seem more irate than usual.” “Well, Twlights have been working me like a slave with book dusting all the shelves in this darn castle.” “You could say damn you know?” Rin interjected. “Rin!” Fluttershy gasped. “Spike is still a child! Don’t use such foul language in front of him like that!” “Stop!” moaned Spile. “If you want Twilight your too late. She left for Canterlot Castle with the other bipedal creature.” “Wait! So one of my friends was here!” Rin picked up Spike and shook him like a rag doll. “Were they a male or female?” “Male!” Spike screamed. “Please let me go!” The moment Rin put him down Spike ran to the door and shut himself in. Afterwords, The demon exorcist turned to Fluttershy. “Looks like we are going to this Canterlot Castle place. You know where that is?” “Its that large structure in the distance.” She said, pointing towards some far away mountains. “We’d need to wait for a train to take us to the city.” “But by the time we get there, we might miss them again. Can’t you pick me up and fly me there.” “Oh dear no,” she said shaking her head, eyes widen. “I’m not strong or fast enough for that.” Rin turned to the town and slammed his fist into his left palm. “Then we have to find someone who is! Got any ideas!” “Rainbow Dash!” Fluttershy said loudly Rin smiled “Great let's go find this- “No! I mean Rin look out shes…” Before Fluttershy could even finish, Rin felt a force, unlike anything he had ever felt slammed into his cheek. His body twirled backward in midair as he was sent flying until crashed and toppled over a nearby tree. “Leave monster!” someone shouted. “You don’t belong in this town!” “Rainbow Dash what in Celestia name are you doing!” Fluttershy screamed! Rin tried desperately to lift himself up as blood poured from the numerous cuts as he leaned against the giant log behind him. He must have broken several limbs. He wasn’t worried too much though since he knew the cuts would regenerate rather quickly along with whatever ponies he might have broken. Sure enough, the cuts vanished from his body, and he could feel his broken joints reattaching themselves. When he was confident that he had fully healed, he lifted himself up and pointed a flaming blue finger at the rainbowed-maned pony who had assaulted him. “You better back off!” he warned. “I only roast demons, but that doesn’t mean I won’t burn you. Please don’t make me burn a cute pony.” “Who the heck you calling cute demon!” Dash bragged. “That’s what you are right? You’re the one who set those strange black smoke timber wolves on Sweet Apple Acres aren’t you?” “I know nothing about no wolves,” Rin replied. “And I don’t have time to either. I need to get to Canterlot and rescue Suguro! “Not until you get those wolves to stop attacking Apple Jack and her family!” Rin sighed and brought his focus to Fluttershy. “This is the pegasus pony you were talking about?” He watched her nod and turned his attention back to Rainbow, finger still pointed. “I’ll save your friends farm, but then you owe me an apology and a ride to Canterlot!”                                                                          ------ Helplessness consumed Applejack's entire being as she watched the horror unfold from the safety of her bedroom window. At least, safe as she was while the timber wolves were busy ripping her cattle to bloody shreds. They were her family cows, her friends, and all she could do was watch as they all die in agony. "Where in Tartarus is Rainbow Dash?" her mind echoed. Why isn’t she back? She thought she and Rainbow Dash had defeated the last horde when this all started earlier today. Believing the worst was over, she had asked Dash to find anything unusual that might have caused the change in the wolves’ appearance.  It was no sooner after her departure did another pack of black smoking timber wolves immerge. That left only her and Big Mac to defend Granny and AB. Celestia’s sun was beginning to set as the last cow screamed one final shriek. The timber wolf that had killed her stood atop her corps and turned its gaze towards the house followed by the rest of the pack of around twenty-five. Applejack shivered as their glowing red eyes- which had once been green- illuminated the bottom of the hill.  Whatever spell had befallen wolves, it was clear they were no longer hunting for nourishment, but for the pleasure of spilling blood.” “Mac!” she called as she ran towards then down the stairs. “Granny and bloom are in the cellar?” “Eeeyup!” was his reply as she would expect, only this time with a more somber and concerned tone. “They will be here any second.” She told him. “Even though we’ve boarded the house up, the wolves are stronger than before. We need to anticipate that they are strong enough to break through. When we do, we buck as many as we can and hold off until help arrives.” “Is help coming?” her older brother asked. The farm mare lowered her head shook it. “I don’t know Mac. All I know is that Rainbow would never abandon us intentionally. She may not even know we are in immediate danger.” As the wolves began their assault, clawing at the door and the window, that feeling of helplessness she had felt earlier overcame her entire being. Overall the ways her life could end, fighting and failing to protect her family was the worse she could ever imagine. She looked up at her family photo for resolve. No matter the outcome, she was ready to fight to the bitter end to protect everypony.                                                          ---------- By the time Rin and Rainbow Dash reached Sweet Apple Acers, the sun had already traded places with the moon. Rainbow Dash flew while Rin used his superhuman stamina and steep to trail in back. “There attacking the house.” The pegasus reported “Just leave them to me Rin.” Rin said, sword at the ready. “I can control who gets burnt by my flame but I don’t want to take any chances. You’ll be my back.” She looked as though she wanted to protest but nodded in agreement anyway. “Just save them.” Rin gave her a thumbs up and sped past her towards the hill. When he got up he could see a mass of sticks, branches, and black smoke in the form of wolves trying to break into the house. “Over here assholes!” Rin called out as he finally drew his sword to unleash his full power. Rin charged into the pack, stabbed one right in the head just as its head was about to turn. Amplified by his will, the wolf was engulfed instantly in a blue bonfire. From there he struck another and followed by a third. The flames of Satan had the power to burn both physically and spiritually each timber wolf spirit engulf by Rins flame died alongside the demons that possessed them. Part of the pack began to retreat while the ones that were too close to escape fought for their lives. One wolf jumped onto Rins back but was blown away by a Rins pyrokinetic will. A second one bit the side of Rin's tail which forces him to kneel down on his legs. Mephisto, the headmaster of TCA had warned him about tails being a demons vulnerability. Fortunate the tip was on fire when in this form, so he was able to free himself simply by walking the wolves’ neck and forcing it to let go. When Rin had finished with them, he began to peruse those in retreat. Putting the tip of his sword facing the ground he unleashed one of his more devastating moves. “Satan Bomb!” And just like that, the fleeing wolves were all engulfed in a fiery blue explosion. Rin sheathed his sword and took a big sigh of relief. Rainbow Dash, who had been watching the battle from afar, flew down to on the field that was covered with burning sticks. Rin turned her and smiled. “Timberwolves! Ha! More like tinderwolves now!”
