After dealing with steel Pokémon in the valley of steel, James, Luna and Shadow had finally arrived back in Mauville City. The one was very happy about that was Luna.

As soon they arrived in the city Luna stretched her body. “Finally, back in civilization. I can’t wait to sleep in a bed tonight, I’m getting tiered of sleeping on the ground.” The boys didn’t say anything because the felt same ting,

Once they arrived at Pokémon center the doors open and a boy came out in a hurry and unfortunately for James who was first, he was knock down by the boy. Luna and Shadow just watch the whole thing, Luna recognised the boy as Ace. Both just lay there, Ace was up top on James.

When James manged to focus again he saw how was on top of him. “Ace? Mind telling why you are lying on me?”

Ace, who was rubbing his head opened his eyes and saw right at and angry James. “Sorry, I’ll get off.” He did that. “Sorry again, I was in a hurry.”

James got up. “You don’t say, mind telling me why you are in a hurry?”

“I’m going to challenge Wattson and get my third bag.” Then he saw Luna. “Hey Luna.” Then he noticed Shadow. “I don’t know you, who are you?”

“My name is Shadow Moonrise and I’m from Kanto, and I’m going to win the Hoenn league.”

Ace could hear the confidence in Shadow voice. “I don’t think so, that is going to be me and I’m going to prove it with beating Wattson and earn my third bag.” Then he ran in the direction of the gym.

Luna and the boys just watch as he ran to the gym then Luna decide the follow him.

“Where are you going Luna?” James asked her.

“I’m going after him and watch the battle, I want to see if mange to beat Wattson.”

She walked of leaving James and Shadow alone, Shadow looked at Charmeleon. “Want to watch Ace battle Wattson?” He asked his Pokémon, Charmeleon just smile. “Thought so.” They both walked after Ace and Luna, leaving James alone.

James just shrugged his shoulder. “Why the hell not.” He also decided to watch the battle.

When he arrived at the gym he saw that Luna and Shadow with his Charmeleon had already taken a seat on the stand, he walked over to them. “How did you two get her so fast?” He asked them.

Both of them just shrugged their shoulders, James said nothing. He just sat down to watch the match that was about to begin.

“This gym battle between the gym leader Wattson and the challenger Ace will now begin, each trainer can use three Pokémon but only the challenger can switch Pokémon. The battle is over when all three Pokémon is unable to battle, if you both are ready.” Both nodded. “The begin.”

Wattson was up first. “Let’s go Magnemite.”

Ace smiled when he saw Wattson’s choice. “I was hoping you picked Magnemite first, let’s go Nidoran♂.”

Out came a Pokémon that looked like a little mouse that was purple, Luna took out her Pokédex.

Nidoran♂ the Poison Pin Pokémon. Nidroan has developed muscles for moving its ears. Thanks to that, the ears can be freely moved in any direction. Even the slightest sound does not escape this Pokémon’s notice.

“It almost looks like the Nidroan the ‘Celestia’ was using.”

“That’s because that’s the female Nidroan, they have the same name but they look different.” James explained.

Back on the battle field Ace was about to attack. “Let’s go Nidoran♂, use double kick.” Nidoran♂ stared to run towards Magnemite, then it jumped up in the air and kick the steel Pokémon twice.

“Nice move, fighting moves is very effective against steel Pokémon.” Said James on the stand.

“Don’t give up Magnemite, use thunder shook.” Electricity came out from its body and headed towards Nidoran♂.

“Doge it and use double kick again.” Nidoran♂ manged to doge the attack, he jumped up in the air again and kick Magnemite again.

Wattson became worried. “You okay Magnemite?” It looked like it was okay but then Magnemite collapsed.

“Magnemite is unable to battle Nidoran♂ is the winner.” Wade announced.

Ace stared to fist pump into the air. “Alright, nice done Nidoran♂.”

Wattson called back Magnemite. “You did a good job, now take a good rest. It’s your turn Voltorb.” Out came the ball Pokémon and it was ready.

Ace held out a Pokéball. “Nidoran♂, return.” Then he replaced it with a new one. “Let’s go Geodude.” Out came the rock Pokémon. “Use magnitude.” Geodude jump up and slammed his body to the ground.

The attack was not the most power full but Voltorb took damage. “Don’t give up, use gyro ball.” Voltorb stared to spin very fast and headed towards Geodude.

“Counter it with rollout.” Geodude became a ball and stared to spin very fast and headed towards Voltorb.

Both Pokémon meet in the middle of the field and it looked like none of them was winning, James and the other watch at the stand. “It looks like the are equally strong.” Said Luna.

James put a hand under his chin. “I think that Voltorb is going to win.” And he was right, Geodude flew backwards.

Luna was a little shook when she saw that. “How did you know?” She asked him.

“Gyro ball is a steel attack and I think that Wattson’s Voltorb is much stronger than Ace’s Geodude.”

Back on the field Geodude was ready again. “Use magnitude again.” Geodude slammed his body into the ground and again, that created a more stronger attack then before and they felt it. It felt like the hole building shook. “Use dig.” Geodude disappeared into the ground.

“Keep an eye out Voltorb, Geodude can appeared anywhere.” Voltorb did that.

“Do it Geodude.” Before Voltorb could react, the rock Pokémon came up came up under behind him and did a lot of damage, Voltorb landed on the ground and was out.

“Voltorb is unable to battle Geodude is the winner.” Wade announced.

That made Ace very happy. “Alright, one more to go.”

Wattson called back Voltorb. “Good work, take a good rest.” He then looked over to Ace. “I can see that you have trained your Pokémon well but don’t think this is over, let’s go Manectric.” Out came the evolved Pokémon ready for action.

When Ace saw Wattson’s last Pokémon he became a little worried. “A Manectric, I thought it was a Electrike.” He took out Pokédex. “Let’s win this fast, use Magnitude.”

Wattson was ready. “Not this time, flash.” Before Geodude could attack he was blinded by a bright light that blinded him. “Use ice fang.” Ice formed in Manectric mouth. 

That got Ace, James and Luna’s eyes to widened. But not Shadow. “When did Manectric learn that?” Said James.

Back on the battle field Manectric ice attack hit Geodude so hard that he became an ice block, now Ace was really worried. “You okay Geodude?” A little difficult to answer when your cast in ice. “Geodude, return.” He called back the rock Pokémon. “You’re up Nidoran♂.” Out came the poison Pokémon ready for another round. “Use double kick.”

“Just stand there Manectric.”

That just confused Ace. ‘Why is he Manectric take the attack, has he given up? No, that’s not it, unless...’ Before Ace could finished that though Nidoran♂ kicked Manectric two times, Nidoran♂ landed on the ground and all seemed fine. But then electricity stared to form around Nidoran♂ and he was in pain.

“That’s static, Manectric abelite. When Manectric is attack with physical attack, there a chance that the opponents Pokémon gets paralyze, let finished this Manectric use thunderbolt.” Electricity stared to from around Manectric and then send out a large amount of electricity towards Nidoran♂.

“Get out of the way Nidoran♂.” It was no use, Nidoran♂ could not move and was his so hard that attack created an explosion, when the dust disappeared they could see that Nidoran♂ was lying unconscious on the ground.

“Nidoran♂ is unable to battle Manectric is the winner.” Wade announced.

Wattson gave Manectric a thumb up. “Great work Manectric.”

Ace called back Nidoran♂. “Great work, get some rest. You’re up Geodude.” Out came the rock Pokémon and lucky for Ace Geodude was not in ice anymore. “Use magnitude.” Before Wattson could react Geodude slammed his body into the ground causing damage to Manectric.

“Don’t give up, use ice fang.” Ice appeared into Manectric mouth and he stared to run towards Geodude.

“Use rollout.” Geodude rolled into a ball and headed towards Manetric.

When the attacks met it created a little explosion and Geodude flew towards the wall behind Ace, he collided with wall and feel to the floor unconscious. “Geodude.” Said Ace with panic in his voice.

“Geodude is unable to battle Manectric is the winner.” Wade announced.

Ace called back Geodude. “Nice work, rest up.” He looked at Wattson and his Manectric. ‘I have de odds against me, Snivy is strong against electric attack but not ice attack.’ He then looked over to James. ‘But I won’t give up. The battle is not over until is over, as long you have Pokémon left you can still win.’ He took out his last Pokémon. “Hear my words Wattson. I WONT LOSE.”

That got Wattson to laugh. “That’s the spirit boy, let’s see what you got.”

Ace threw the Pokéball. “Let’s go Snivy.” Out came the grass Pokémon ready for battle. ‘Alright, thanks to Manectric abelite there’s a risk attacking physical, so…’ He took a deep breath. “Use leaf tornado.” Leaf surrounded Snivy and was ‘thrown’ against Manetric.

“Doge the attack and then use ice fang.” Manetric manged to doge the leaf and then ice stared to form in his mouth again, he stared to run towards Snivy.

“Not this time, doge it.” Manetric tried to bite Snivy but the grass Pokémon manged to get away in time.

“Keep using ice fang.” Manetric continued to try to bite Snivy with its mouth, it was a little difficult when Snivy manged to doge the attack all the time.

Back on the stand Luna and the boys watch the battle closely. “Man, Ace’s Snivy can’t attack.” Said Shadow.

“That’s Wattson plan, he wants to make sure that Ace can’t attack and at same time finished the battle.”

“Can’t Ace do nothing?” Luna asked James.

“The only thing he can do is to try and get some distance and then try to attack.”

Back on the battle field Manetric was still attacking Snivy with ice fang, Snivy was trying it best to doge them but it was getting tired.

‘If this keeps up Snivy will get tired, I got to take a chance.’ It was all or nothing. “Jump Snivy and use wine whip.” Snivy manged to get enough space to jump, it was about to attack but…

“I don’t think so, use thunderbolt.” Manetric send away electricity towards Snivy and the attack hit. Lucky that Snivy was a grass Pokémon so the attack didn’t do much damage, but Wattson wasn’t finished. “Now use ice fang.” Manetric manged to bit Snivy with the attack while Snivy was in the air, it looked like the attack hurt a lot.

Snivy landed in front of Ace on it stomach and it was hurt, Ace could see ice on Snivy. “Snivy, are you okay?” Snivy tried to get up but it was not easy.

“Let’s use another thunderbolt.” Manetric send away another flood electricity towards Snivy, the attack hit.

Snivy cried out in pain while Ace could only watch as Snivy was hit by thunderbolt. “No, it can’t end like this.” Snivy feel on the ground, stomach first. “I have work too hard, no. We have work too hard to get here so don’t you dear give up Snivy, stand up and fight.”

That was all Snivy needed to hear, Snivy stood up but was breathing heavily. Then Snivy stared to glow and grow, everyone that was watching could not believe what they saw.

“Is Snivy evolving?” Luan asked no one particular.

When Snivy stopped glowing a brand new Pokémon was standing there, it looked like a taller version of Snivy but it had yellow collar and yellow knot on its head. Luna, Ace and Shadow took out there Pokédex.

Servine the Grass Snake Pokémon and the evolved form of Snivy. It moves along the ground as if sliding. Its swift movements befuddle its foes, and it then attacks with a vine whip. When it gets dirty, its leaves can’t be used in photosynthesis, so it always keeps itself clean.

“SERVINE.”

Ace could help but smile of what he saw. “This is so cool, let’s do this Servine.” Servine got ready.

Wattson was smiling the whole time. “Now this is was its all about, a Pokémon that hear a trains words. But, don’t think I will give up just because your Snivy evolved.”

“I don’t expect you to. Let do this Servine, use leaf tornado.” Leaf surrounded Servine and head towards Manetric, this time that attack came so fast that Manetric didn’t have a chance to doge the attack.

Wattson became a little worried. ‘That was fast.’ He collected himself. “Use ice fang.” Ice stared to appeared in its mouth, he attacked.

“Use energy ball.” Servine send away a green ball and it hit Manetric right in the face but it didn’t stop him, he kept going with the attack. “Use slam and give him an upper cut Servine.” Servine waited for Manetric to be a couple of meters from him, then she slammed his tail up Manetric’s jaw and send him flying. “Finish it with another slam.” Servine jump up so she was over Manetric, she then slammed him into the ground with its tail.

Manectric landed hard on the ground, causing a little dust cloud. “Manectric, are you okay?” Wattson asked with concerns in his voice. When the dust cloud cleared they, all could see Manectric lying on the floor unconscious.

“Manectric is unable to battle, Servine is the winner. That means the challenger Ace is victorious.” Wade announced.

Wattson called back Manectric. “You did a good job, take a good rest.” He then looked over to Ace who was just standing there.

“I won?” I then heard clapping from the stand, it James who was doing the clapping. Then Luna and Shadow joined in. “I won.” Ace stared to jump up and down in pure happenings, he ran over to Servine and lifted her up to give his Pokémon hug. “You did great Servine.” Servine felt a little awkward but she returned the hug.

Wattson walked over to Ace holding something in his hand. “Nice work Ace and here’s the proof you have beaten me, the Dynamo badge.”

He gave Ace the badge. “Thanks, Wattson.” He took the badge and hold it in hand with pride.

On their way, back to the Pokémon center Ace was looking at his new badge, after losing to Flannery and Sunset he was down but now he was on top of the world.

“Finally, finally I got my third badge.” He said to himself.

“You know that you have five badges left.” James told him.

“I know that, just let me enjoy this moment.” Ace said with some annoyance, James just smiled. “By the way, why are you and Luna here? Did you win your forth badge Luna?”

Luna took out her badge cases and show him her badge, Ace eyes widen when he saw that. “No way.” He then looked at his new badge again. “Alright then, I challenge you all to a tag battle.”
