//------------------------------// // The Wedding // Story: Only One Love // by Orangeblossom1212 //------------------------------// "Okay, Rainbow Dash! You can do this! Yeah, you got this! There's nothing to be worried about!" I could hear Rainbow Dash ranting to herself. In just a few minutes the doors would open, leaving her to make the biggest decision of her life! The one that would determine her entire future. The one that would shatter my heart-forever. I saw Rainbow Dash's face heat up, why doesn't she ever do that around me? Only him. Rainbow Dash looked so nervous, excited, and pretty much like she was the happiest mare in the world. Rainbow was grinning ear to ear, like there was no tomorrow. It looked like it took everything she had not jump up and down squealing like a little filly about to get a giant basket of candy... a similar reaction to the fillies I meet at shows and various other Wonderbolt performances... Never mind that now... The doors opened, I wish they hadn't. Taking in a big, deep breath she stepped forward. Gasps from the crowd as well as the clapping of hooves came from her closest friends and family as they gazed her up and down, not that Rainbow Dash saw nor heard them, of course, she was too distracted. Every pony knew Rainbow Dash would never admit it, but at this moment, she couldn't have looked happier to be wearing a dress. Why couldn't she be wearing that for me? Rainbow Dash took another step. Her heart must have been fluttering by now, it was evident in her eyes as she finally traced the asle up to the stallion of her dreams, standing before her, in front of the stage. Rainbow took another step. Rainbow's eyes met his, Soarin's, 'the stallion of her dreams'. The pony she lived for and would most definitely give her life for, should it come to that. More importantly, the pony I despise, loath, and hate most of all. No, those words at not strong enough! My heart shattered more as I watched her with each passing moment and second; she took another step. Rainbow was still smiling. She looked as if she couldn't stop even if she tried. Rainbow Dash was speeding up ever so subtly that no pony else noticed. I noticed. Another step, she was almost there. I could see Rainbow's heart pounding out of her chest, like she was scared. Good. Maybe she'll come to her senses and change her mind. Soarin was only a few feet away from her now. I felt my fury rising with each step nearer she took. Time seemed to stop, holding every-pony still, except for three ponies; Rainbow Dash, Soarin and I. Soarin reached out his hoof to Rainbow, she excepted it. I can't believe she excepted it! How could she fall for him!? Soarin pulled her to him embracing her in his wings which she gladly returned. This is making me sick! That should be me up there, not Soarin! How could she like someone so, so... SO CHILDISH!? The pastor began to speak: "Rainbow Arial Dashery, do you take this stallion to be your lawfully wedded husband? Through good times and bad, through sick and health, to cherish and love, for as long as you both shall live?" "No. Don't! Please. Please, don't!" I shouted, but no pony heard me. "I do," Rainbow Dash said, looking up and gazing into Soarin's eyes lovingly, seemingly lost. It disgusts me that Soarin did the same. Rainbow Dash was being nieve, tricked into marrying this idiot! "Taking my mare, ARE YOU?! Who does SOARIN think he is? This will not be the end, its only just beginning!” I shouted, turning away from the window. “You invited me just to stand me up! To tease me! You manipulative...M-MEANY! Well, I will not! I will not give him that courtesy!" I gritted my teeth glancing back at the window... to see...to see him, Soarin, kissing my mare! "You will regret this deeply, I promise,” I said angrily to myself. Peeling my eyes from the window and turning to face the other way. I saw something drop down in front or me. I followed it with my eyes to a small puddle that sat in front of me. “What does he have that I don't?” I asked weakly. "I mean, my mane is better that his! I have bigger muscles! Even my eyes are better that his! That ugly green doesn't stand a chance to by beautiful blue sapphires! Yet she gets SO 'lost' in that stupid gaze of his!" I felt something wet splash on my head, I looked up. Another drop landed squarely on my nose. Then several more across my back in a slight pitter-patter. Great, just what I needed; rain. Then, suddenly, the skies opened. I ran forward for shelter but slipped in that stupid little puddle! I fell face first, mud splashing up to meet me, covering my face and ruining my suit. "This has to be the worst day of my life! The pony I love has been snatched away, and then this! All because of Soarin and this stupid little puddle!" I looked down. anger struck me at an all time high, I no longer had any self control. I punched my reflection. "Stupid! Idiot!" I yelled at myself. Then I did something I haven't done in years. I cried. I sunk down into my little puddle and put my head in my hooves and sobbed. No wonder she didn't want me! I'm useless! Go ahead, shout for all its worth, my mind told me. I shouted! Its not like anyone will hear me. Every-pony is at the after party celebrating by now. “Fire Streak?” I heard a voice behind me ask. "Oh, no.." I muttered bitterly. "What are you doing? It’s raining." Fleet Foot said bluntly, coming up and dragging me inside. "Really? I couldn't tell!" I snapped angrily, not even trying to fight her strong grip on the back of my suit as she dragged me along the ground and into the church. "Hey! Don't you even dare to get that attitude with me, Mister! You're the one sitting in the rain and sobbing like a foal!" I shut up. Knowing Fleet Foot she'd keep this over my head, and likely tell every pony on the team.. even Soarin and Rainbow Dash. "Please. Don't tell Every-pony...." I didn't even bother to finish. I couldn't. I was too ashamed. Fleet Foot tilted her head and stared at me. I looked away. “I wasn't going to... trust me. I know when I'm crossing a line, and when to keep my mouth shut... even if it isn't that much fun.” I couldn't help but smirk at that. "I'm surprised, " I said barely above a whisper and sighed. "You know, you can guarantee that if you tell me why you were crying in the first place." Ah, there's the Fleet Foot I know, I thought, anger swelling back up inside me. I simply growled. I tried to hide it and to stop it, but I failed miserably, just like I fail at everything. My eyes began tearing up... Don't tell her! Come on! Surely your stronger then that! My mind screamed at me! "S-SOARIN STOLE MY MARE! Soarin stole Rainbow Dash from me!" I yelled bursting out into tears, sobbing my heart out. Then Fleet Foot did something I never expected. she grabbed me by the back of my head and yanked my face forward so that it was parallel to hers until we were touching, my lips locking with hers.
