2.5X2: Everchained Forest

"Can you tone the glitter down a little?" groaned Celestia, even though she knew it would be no good.
"Fine!" snapped Sparkleworks. Luna sighed. "How can you not like glitter?"
"Systematically speaking, Luna," the older mare snapped. "from a diabolical point of view, your fundamental faculties are insufficiently sophisticated to bombasticate your philosophies."
"Eh?"
"You're stupid, so shut your mouth."
"Err," mumbled Kimono. "Shouldn't we be trying to find a way home?"
Celestia nodded. "I'm pretty sure that we went through a forest, didn't we, Luna? So if we find the forest again we should be able to retrace our steps."
"Right," muttered Luna. "Now, let me think....." She pointed at a random patch of grass. "According to the history some nerd-" she glanced at her sister- "made me learn, that's where the Great Coltenville Fire that started the human war began. Fires start with an ember. Ember was one of the ponies Tirek kidnapped. Another one of the ponies Tirek kidnapped was Applejack- the one from ancient history, not our friend. You can't spell Applejack without apple. The apple never falls far from the tree. Forests have trees. Let's go this way!"
Kimono stared. "Wait a sec-"
"Don't bother," advised Celestia, following her younger sister. "If you think this is troll logic, just wait until your argue with her."
"Holy crap!" yelled Sparkleworks. Celestia glared.
"Don't you dare teach my little sister language like that!"
"Sorry," mumbled Sparkleworks. "but look! There's actually a forest!"
She pointed ahead at a dark cluster of trees. Luna grinned. "Well, duh! We went past the place that started the Great Coltenville Fire, which started with an ember, and Ember was kidnapped by Tirek, and Applejack was also kidnapped by Tirek, and the apple never falls far from the tree, and trees are in forests!"
"Hang on," asked Celestia. "Didn't I tell you about how there's a forest near the place where the Great Coltenville Fire started?"
"Exactly! And I remembered it by remembering the ponies kidnapped by Tirek!"
"But-" protested Kimono, almost outraged by this instance of using such overly compicated learning strategies. "But- but- oh forget it, let's just find our way back to Ponyville."
High above them, Discord was grinning.

Ha! They think they'll find Ponyville! If only they knew. I wonder when they'll figure it out.
Hang on. They might not. If they get to Kimono's house before Ponyville, they'll just assume that they went the long way by mistake and go back. No shocking blow of Ponyville being gone. Boring!
If there's no shock of Ponyville being gone, why should I keep them here? Let's see......that's Everchained Forest. What to do? Fill it with monsters?
No, they would just run. Maybe I could take them somewhere else.......yes, that seems good. Maybe that weird undiscovered country where I made it always be a rainy day, without even a night? Yeah, there's a forest there......
I click my fingers. That should make stuff work normally in the forest over there. Oh wait, the forest needs a name. Err, opposite of Everchained......How about Everfree?
Yes. Perfectl I snap my gingers again, grinning. The forest below me changed a little, the trees seeming darker. Now to test it.....
I snap my fingers a third time and cotton candy clouds fill the sky. Well, most of it. Sure enough, as chocolate milk pours down, the trees don't get a single drop on them.
Perfect.

Luna groaned. "We've been walking for ages!"
"We've been walking for half an hour!" said Celestia through gritted teeth.
"That is ages!"
"No it isn't!" snapped Kimono. "Besides, we'll be done in a minute! See, if you look closely you can see the grass...."
Luna peered between the trees and immediately galloped forward. Sparkleworks rolled her eyes. "If you die then I'm not doing the paperwork!"
Celestia dashed ahead upon hearing those words. If only she was any good at sport; as it was, by the time she got to Luna a passing snail had travelled around the world several times and broken the sound barrier. Granted, said snail had been granted super speed powers and wings when Discord got bored with it. Nonetheless, the snail beating her so badly did nothing to improve her self esteem.
She growled, standing under a tree as she saw her sister happily jumping into a puddle. "I galloped faster than ever before for this?"
She noticed it was raining. Like, really raining. Heavily. Upon looking properly she saw Luna hadn't really jumped into a puddle so much as simply jumped. The whole ground was knee-deep in water. Well, she presumed it would be knee-deep for her. For Luna it was a miracle she hadn't drowned.
"How long has it been raining for?" choked Kimono. These didn't seem like conditions for a flood- the water was high enough that had physics been anywhere but out the window the forest would be soaking too.
"Just be greatful it isn't raining chocolate milk," advised Sparkeworks, jumping into the water and splashing them all. Celestia growled. "Oi! Don't-"
Splash.
She flinched as another wave crashed over her, glaring at her sister. "Cut it out!"
Before she knew it Kimono was in on it too. She growled, then giggled as she jumped in with them. Soon they four had started a fun game of splashing each other, as opposed to just splashing the one pony who told them not to. Soon they had completely forgotten that they were lost, that they had no idea where Ponyville was.
And they didn't even notice they were on the other side of the world.
