The Spike Poem Anthology II

by Zephyr Spark

Cadence's Ocean

I stand at the edges where the ocean laps at the shore
Shaping the earth with each wave from a rising tide
Helping her to grow each day a little more
Watching over the land with pride.

They play together and help each other through every trial
The ocean now sees the earth as an equal, and a friend
The earth will be there to raise the ocean’s child
Theirs is a love that always transcends.

Without the ocean, I might not have known how to be gentle
I would never have seen how kindness daily
Can shape the world in ways continental
And can forge new bonds of family.

I long to be like her, kind and everything the earth needs
Full of patience, wisdom, and a soft touch
That’s why I will do her will, her every deed
So like the ocean, my help will make her happier by much

Kindness like this, sweet affection, and tender caress
Is her warmth that I love best.
