Shadow of Loyalty and Laughter

A date for loyal destiny...

Sunset was patiently waiting in the booth she had reserved for her lunch date with Twilight. Thanks to Celestia releasing her from her debriefing way earlier than she had anticipated, she had went straight to the restaurant to sit alone that way. When she had gotten there, there were no other diners but now the place was wall-to-wall packed with a line that extended around the block. It wasn't the diners that had Sunset nervous, no, it was the fact she had to pull a very sneaky move to get the booth in the first place. As soon as she saw Twilight at the door, she made her way towards the entrance to meet her there, unfortunately she was slow getting there due to how congested it was and got there mid conversation with Twilight looking a little flustered. "What do you mean by there was no reservation under the name "Shimmer"?" Twilight said completely oblivious to the fact that Sunset was approaching.

"I am sorry princess, although there was a reservation under the name "Sunset Sparkle", perhaps your wife could explain?" The now very nervous waiter said. Considering the fact she was royalty and how legendary her magic abilities and temper tanturms were, he knew better than to piss off Twilight for both his sanity and his life's sake.

It was like the world stopped turning, the restaurant grew as quiet as a church and every pony stared at Twilight, who was frozen in shock as Sunset finally got to her. "You honestly think that your wife would not use her new last name my love?" Sunset said with a warm smile but Twilight gave her a glare that would make Fluttershy's seem weak as she teleported the both of them to the field on the edge of Everfree for privacy.

"What were you thinking Sunset? Do you have any idea what kind of chaos you just caused by saying you were my wife?" At the mention of the word chaos Discord appeared, but got scared when he saw the lakes of black angry fire in Twilight's eyes that melted his soul, so he quickly left to see a psychiatrist. "If I knew that you were gonna pull that stunt, I would have just suggested a nice lunch at my castle. All of that is not even including the fact impersonating royalty is punishable by life in the Canterlot dungeons without the possibility of parole AND there was more than one journalist from The Canterlot Chornical and The Foalfree Press in there so this is going to be front page headlines tomorrow."

Sunset wilted under Twilight's gaze and tone. "I didn't think about that to be honest....I really am sorry Twilight, but I just wanted to have the perfect setting for us to catch up with a nice meal. I can understand why you are angry, but can you forgive me as a friend?"

Twilight shook her head. "No I will not forgive you as a friend....." All the hope in Sunset instantly dimmed as she stared at the ground. "However I will forgive you as my wife...." Sunset's eyes went to the size of dinner plates before fainting. Twi nearly panicked when she realized the unicorn wasn't breathing, but managed to keep her cool and used a spell to rejump her heart. "You ok Sunset?"

"I will be Twilight...was just a little surprised is all." Sunset said getting back onto all four hooves. "Let me guess, just to keep me out of jail?"

"Yep." Was the only thing Twilight said before dropping the issue. "After lunch I will see you tonight, afterall, who do you think tipped Princess Luna off about Nightmare Moon's return?"

For the second time in 5 minutes, Sunset dropped of a shock-induced heart attack.
