//------------------------------// // I will always care for you // Story: Cousins Come First // by Fizzyberries302 //------------------------------// "NO!" The terrified scream echoed through Violet and Fluttershy's room. The filly started awake and a cold sweat dripping from her forehead. Violet tugged the blankets over her chin and rested them just under her nose. Will these nightmares ever end? Ever since she found out the truth behind her mothers disappearance, she had be having these recurring nightmares. Now she regretted asking Celestia to show her what happened to her. Ever since, she kept seeing the same thing in her dreams. Her mother's death repeated over and over again every night and she would wake up screaming. "Violet?" The teenager lifted her head. In the darkened room she could see her older cousin Fluttershy had woken up. "Did you have another nightmare?" Violet nodded, before quietly sobbing into the blanket. Fluttershy through off part of the covers and patted the mattress. "Come on, you can sleep here," Violet got up from her bed and hoped into the bed next to Fluttershy. The yellow pegasus tucked the blankets over her cousin and the violet pegasus lay there softly crying. Fluttershy wrapped her forearm around her, tenderly stroking her back. "Shh, was it the usual?" Violet nodded. "Fluttershy, I can't stand it anymore! Moms dead, Dads dead, I have no one left!" "Oh, no, no Violet. You're not alone, you have me." "Exactly, I can't lose you Fluttershy. You're the only living relative I have, if Chrysalis comes back..." she broke down into full on sobs. "Shh, Violet she's not coming back. Your powers made sure of that." "But what if?" "It's okay Violet, I'm here for you, so is Discord, Comet and our friends." Violet wiped her cheeks dry, but the tears still streamed down in heavy rivers. "Fluttershy, it's awful. Every night I keep seeing my mother come back into Equestria, then Chrysalis and then..." "I know sweetie, you've been through a lot. I understand how you must feel right now. The best way is to let it all out..." "Fluttershy," "Violet, it's better to let out your feelings then hold them back. Now take a deep breath and let it all out." The blonde did as she was told and breathed in deeply. Her memories of her parents came flooding back to her and their deaths. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Violet lay propped up on her bed, reading a book. Her father had been fighting the war in Iraq for two months. Her mother worked at home, selling her homemade perfumes, so she was always home. She jumped when there was knock on the door. She got up and peaked out her curtains. There was a military van out front. Overjoyed, thinking her father had come home early she bolted downstairs, but stopped when she saw her mother in a knee length flower dress and apron, talking to an army officer. The stairs were separated from the main room by a small bit of wall. Violet ducked behind the wall and watched. The officer said something that Violet couldn't here, but her mother suddenly tensed up when he handed her a letter and left. Once he was gone, Daphne opened it and read it. Suddenly she let out a wail and fell to the floor in sobs. Instantly, Violet ran out. "Mom, what's wrong?!" Daphne sobbed into the floor, clutching the letter to her chest. "Your fathers, not coming home sweetie..." Violet's eyes widened and a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach came. "What do you mean?" "He passed away..." Violet's mouth dropped. "No...not Dad," "I'm sorry sweetheart, but he's never coming home," Daphne sobbed. Violet felt something wet on her cheeks but didn't wipe them away. She too collapsed onto the floor in despair. Her mother pulled her closer and the two girls sobbed together. Daphne left the room to give her daughter some space. Violet sat down on the couch, hugging her knees to her chest. Her father was hardly around because of his job and now...she would never see him again. She looked up and saw the envelope that had contained the letter. Something was peaking out from within, she picked it up and let it slip into her hand. It was another letter, addressed to her? Violet walked up to her room and sat on her bed, her back propped against the pillows. She slowly opened it up and felt the tears fall down her face. My little Violet, If you read this, then I am dead. I'm sorry you had to find out this way at your age, but I have something I'd like you to know. You've tried for so long to fit in and I know that this world is full of sin. But there's something for you here, your not a waste of space and I hope you'll learn something about this awful race. It's okay though, you'll be alright and when you feel down just look at the moon. As it shines bright, throughout the night, but remember everyone faces their own fight. I know you can deal with the pain, you are a fighter and to make it through the night, just hug your pillow tighter. Let your Mom know, that I died for you. Because this world around me is the one to blame. And if anything, I hope this makes you stronger. Your the best gift, that I ever had, such a shame I had to make you so very sad. Just remember that you meant everything to me. I'm watching over you, from the clouds above and I shall send down the purest and whitest dove, to watch over you and be that guidance eye. I love you, Goodbye... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posey hadn't expected this at all. Another portal had formed without the Rainbow of Light. If Chrysalis found it, she could harness the Human World and feed upon the Humans love. There was only one way to seal it. And it required sacrifice. A single tear fell down her cheek as she stepped into the land she was born in. "I'm sorry Violet," Chrysalis was already standing there. She grinned when she saw the woman. “Ah, Posey Daphne Blossom. Come back to meet your fate.” she snarled. The woman glared at the changelings. “I suppose you want the Rainbow of Light, well you can’t get it,” The doorway disappeared. 'Good,' she thought. “The doorway is sealed. Now you’ll never be able to get to Violet.” she spat. Chrysalis growled. “You are going to open the gateway right now or your life will end right here.” Posey clenched her fists and breathed through her nose. 'Just don't think, it will be over soon.' she thought. “I will never let you into the Human World.” “Then you are no use to me.” Chrysalis snarled, charging up her horn. “Last chance!” “I’D RATHER DIE THEN LET YOU INTO THE HUMAN WORLD!” Posey cried. Chrysalis yelled and her magic shot a beam of green light at Posey. The light hit her in the chest and she screamed in agony. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Violet let out a sound, halfway between a wail and a groan. The tears streamed down her cheeks as Fluttershy stroked her back. "Let it all out Violet, let it all out," "I miss them Violet, I miss them so much." "I know you do Violet, but you were so brave to fight the pain of such a loss. You are stronger then you know Violet. You're parents love you and they still do." Violet looked away slightly. "I'm not brave," "You're braver then me," Violet continued to sob into her cousins chest. "It's okay Violet, I'm here..." Violet closed her eyes. Her ears perked up when she heard Fluttershy sing quietly. 'Someone's waiting for you' https://youtu.be/7U8FJ5iB9Yc Be brave little one Make a wish for each sad little tear Hold your head up though no one is near Someone's waiting for you Don't cry little one There'll be a smile where a frown used to be You'll be part of a love that you see Someone's waiting for you Always keep a little pray'are in your pocket And you're sure to see the light Soon, there'll be joy and happiness And your little world will be bright Have faith little one 'til your hopes and your wishes come true You must try to be brave little one Someone's waiting to love you Violet smiled as Fluttershy dried her eyes with the blanket. "Fluttershy?" "Hmm," "Do you think I could stay here for the night?" Fluttershy giggled. "Okay, but just for tonight." The yellow pegasus shifted over slightly to give Violet more room. Violet snuggled down, her blonde mane spread out on the pillow. "Thank you Fluttershy," Fluttershy leaned down and planted a goodnight kiss on her forehead. "Goodnight Violet," "Goodnight Fluttershy,"
