//------------------------------// // WAGHHH!!! // Story: WAGHHHH!!!! // by mojang5000 //------------------------------// It was a perfect day. The sun was shining, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, ponies walked around the town doing their daily business. The perfect day to spend outside. For Twilight, well... what a great day to study inside! The young mare sat at her desk reading a book, lost in her own little world. "Hey, Twilight." The mare in question spun around in her seat to see Pinkie Pie jumping up and down, nervously. "What is it?" she asked. "I need help, its Gummy, he seems scared or sick or something." Twilight tilted her head slightly. "Have you seen Fluttershy about it yet?" "Yes, she doesn't know what it is though..." Noticing the genuine concern, Twilight took the situation to heart. "OK, I'll go see Gummy and see whats going on." "Thank you, Twilight." Getting out of her seat, the young mare grabbed a nearby book with her magic and left the room, Leaving the pink mare behind. "Oh! Something Shiny!" After a short walk to Pinkie's home at Sugar Cube corner, she walked inside and headed straight for Pinkies room. Upon opening the door she could hear the sound of claws on wood as something ran to hide. Following the sound Twilight looked under a nearby chair, looking underneath she caught a glimpse of green as a body scurried out and between her legs. Turning around, she watched in awe as the little gator scurried away. This concerned her immensely. The usually calm and lethargic alligator was most certainly broken. She had never, in the few years she had known of the toothless gator, seen that gator move that fast. This was probably the most he had ever moved since, well... ever! It was obvious he was scared or something was affecting him, since he was avoiding her. She didn't know what it was, opening her book she skimmed the pages for an answer of some kind. Unfortunately, she didn't know enough about alligator anatomy to make a proper diagnosis. Leaving the gator to his hidey hole, she headed straight back towards home. Trying yet another book, she skimmed the pages for anything on animal activity. She soon found a page on animal reactions. "When an animal reacts nervously or in essences is 'freaking out' it maybe be due to disease or is agitated. Signs may include, skittishness, shaking, running, hiding, and so on. " "Ok... I guess I'll go back to Gummy and check up on him..." The mare said herself. "Spike! I'm going out! Watch Owlicious, and don't let him in the treats jar!" "Okay!" Exiting the library with full intent on trying to fix the broken alligator. Twilight broke into a quick walk. not as fast as a trot, but slower than her normal pace. Her thoughts quickly over took her mind. Most of which contained negative ideas as to why the normally docile alligator was moving faster than he ever had in his whole life. As she moved through town, she heard a scream or a howl in the distance. "WAGHHH!" The mare froze in her tracks, her ears tuning into the sound. "Twilight, what was that yell?" She was so distracted she didn't even notice that she had stopped right next to Applejack. "I don't know, Applejack, I don't know" Later at the farm Applejack was diligently working hard in the apple fields of the farm. She was still trying to process what Twilight had said to her earlier about Gummy. Wasn't he supposed to nothing? Like he always does? The thought sent a chill up the mares spine. Bucking another tree, she posted her thoughts as illness and put the thought in the back of her mind. She was so distracted by her thoughts and work that she didn't even notice Rarity walking up. "Applejack, you're a country mare, yes?" That was a rather odd and stupid question since Rarity has known the southern style mare for years now. "Umm... yes? Why? If ah may ask?" "I'm making a dress for a very important pony and she wants it farm themed." "Uh-huh... and what do you want with me?" "Well I was wondering if you could give me some tips and pointers on clothing, equipment and the like?" the white mare asked kindly. Before the farmer could respond, a strange and guttural yell in the distance. It sounded similar to the one she had heard earlier when she ran into Twilight. Yet another chill rolled up the orange mares spine. She was starting to feel nervous about the situation. "My goodness! What, was that?" Rarity asked, both shocked and confused. Applejack started to shake slightly. "Ah-h-h don't know! Maybe Twilight has an answer!" With that, Applejack shot off toward the library. Confused, Rarity followed behind the nervous mare. At her own pace over course. She couldn't afford to ruin her coat... or mane.. or tail... or anything for that matter. At Fluttershy's cottage "OK, Angel, here's your salad lunch with carrot's and tomatoes!" Fluttershy said happily as she placed the salad in question on her dinning room table in front of a little white cotton tail. Happily, the little rabbit licked his lips before grabbing a fork and a knife and holding them high. *Crash* The loud noise startled the yellow pegasus and was so powerful that it lifted the salad bowl into the air and splayed the contents all over the little cotton tail. But the justice -i mean horror- doesn't end there. As the bowl came to a stop on the cotton tails head, knocking him to the floor, unconscious. Holding her hooves to her face, the Pegasus turned in the direction the noise and heavy crash came from. In the door, her friend Pinkie stood, nervously. From the looks of it, she looked like she had just run a marathon. Well, with Pinkie's high energy level, it was closer to three. "Fluttershy!" the pink mare yelled rather loudly. "Gummy's scared or sick or I don't know whats wrong with him!" Her panic was a clear indication that something was up. "Calm down Pinkie, let me get my book," the pegasus said while fluttering over to a nearby bookshelf. "Did you give him anything sugary today?" "No." "OK... give me a minute, I cant seem to find my reptile book." She looked around for a few more seconds. "Oh, here it is!" She turned toward her pet bunny. " Angel, I have to go... Angel?" she looked around for a second, unable to find him in the mess on the floor. Assuming he ran off she turned to her scared friend. " I'm going to go help Pinkie with Gummy! I will be back soon!" The Pink mare looked around the room nervously. "Come ooooon! Hurry!" "I'm coming, I'm coming!" Leaving her house, the timid pegasus followed close behind her friend. Much to Pinkie's dismay, she quickly grabbed Fluttershy and pushed her along. 'Eeping' the duo moved post haste toward Sugar Cube Corner. The moved so fast that upon entering Pinkies room, the door crashed into the far wall. Pinkie held Fluttershy over her head before gently placing her on the floor. Shaking, the pegasus slowly rose to her feet. Almost immediately she spotted the gator in question. All he did was wither run from hiding spot to hiding spot and hiss. Consulting her book, Fluttershy read through everything on both alligators and crocodiles! She even ran through her usual medical routine! He didn't have a high temperature, with the lack of teeth it wasn't a tooth ache, Pinkie said he ate, he was health as a horse- er, gator. "I'm sorry, but I don't know what to do!" the mare admitted. "Maybe you should go see Twilight about it?" "I did!" Pinkie replied truthfully. "And she didn't know! But... thanks for trying anyway." Fluttershy tucked her book under a wing. "I'll keep looking at home. I also know a pony here in town that specialists in reptiles, she might be able to help." Fluttershy gave her friend a loving hug before leaving the building. Upon walking outside, Fluttershy headed for home. The entirety of the walk home, she couldn't help but worry. She knew animals so well and yet she couldn't figure out what was up with Gummy other than he was agitated. The thought had crossed her mine that her friend had broke Gummy. The universe may be on the line. As soon as Fluttershy walked into her home she heard a loud and guttural yell. "WAGHHH!" Without hesitation, Fluttershy did the one thing she did best. Which was to scream, grab her teddy bear, and hide under her bed. Back at the library... Twilight, Celestia, Rarity and Applejack stood in the library. Three of them were completely ignorant to the situation. With the looks of concern on Celestia's face, the three smaller ponies knew something was up. Off in the distance that ominous yell could be heard. "Princes, what was that yell?" Twilight questioned, nervously. "I have Luna inspecting it as we speak," Celestia answered. "She should be here in three... two... one." A flash of blue and the sound of magic filled the room as Luna appeared just as predicted. Opening her eyes, she blinked before looking around the room and locating her sister. Celestia knew something was up, but to the rest of the little ponies, they saw her usual neutral expression. Luna quickly explained the situation "Sister, the yell was an army of... of..." Luna hesitated. "Well I don't know what it was... but it's coming here and fast!" Concerned, Celestia could only think of one option. "Luna, get Shining Armor here Immediately!" Gather the guard. "Yes, sister!" In a flash and pop, Luna was gone, back to Canterlot to grab the Captain and gather the Royal Guard. With her sister gone, Celestia turned to her student. "Twilight, you must see if there is any recordings for thesee kind of creatures, and fast!" A research paper! Well... sort of. This was of utmost importance and Twilight knew it. But first she needed to find out everything she could on what was coming this direction. She would need field data, books, probably flash cards, and pad of paper, a quill- no, multiple quills, a lot of ink and various other materials. She needed to move with haste! Before she could even start though, the door to her home burst open as a bright blue streak flew inside. Coming to a sliding halt, Dash stood up straight. She was covered in sweat ad panting heavily. "Does... any... pony... know- phew! What that yelling is all about!?" Rainbow Dash asked between pants. "Princess?" Twilight asked. "Do you know what exactly is coming?" Not knowing herself, Celestia quickly composed a letter to her sister. Wrapping it with her personal seal, she sent it off to her sister. Less than ten seconds later a different letter appeared with her sisters seal. "Here you go, Twilight," Celestia said, showing a picture of the beings. Twilight leaned in an examined the picture. As she examined the picture, she saw green fur, rather filthy and un-kept manes and tails. Bright blue eyes, much like a changelings. Finally, they had large, overgrown lower fangs. Grabbing a nearby book she opened it and quickly flipped through the pages until comming to a stop. "Princess?" "Yes, Twilight" "The creatures are orcs!" Twilight answered with a worried look. Princess Celestia just sat there with a puzzled look. Over the years she was familiar with many species of the planet, but even still, she was learning new ones almost every year. "What are orcs?" she asked, confused. "Orcs are a race of ponylike creatures. They can apparently multiply so quickly, that six orcs can make a whole army in one day," the little mare replied ominously. "They are known for their hostility toward others and all around aggressive nature," she said as she read her book. "It is best to avoid at all times if possible..." Twilight looked at her mentor. "This may be bad..." Celestia held a hoof to her chin as she looked to the floor in thought. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath. "Girls... we may have a serious situation..."
