My first encounter with "Forsaken" was though the Forrest's narration. That's why I love his dramatic reading more than others, or may be it's because of heart tearing wails of the little filly...

Late on the bandwagon on this one, but I'll still chime in.
Once I was far enough into the story to see how this was going to play out, I was
honestly angry. Angry that this sweet filly would never be able to live her life, stuck in this endless loop of toil. To have her find her father and yet be unable to recognize the situation for what it was, I'm still unsure if that was a cruel twist of fate, or a gentle cosmic stroke, letting her still believe. The anger gave away to heartbreak, and from there, introspection.
