Chapter 37 (Or the 39th part, counting intro and prologue) is the longest, at a hair over 50k words from the counts I've seen. It's also the one that I point to as an example of how a chapter should be as long as it needs to be. It covers one specific theme, and I think it works better as a single chapter instead of broken up among several.

You know (just my two pence), I like to compare Monterey Jack to an old businessman of the past, say, Thatcher (or even pre-Thatcher) times: honest, to the extent that it's ridiculous (like freely admitting that he doesn't give a damn about his workers and what-not; not like today when we try to sugar-coat it), a little despisable, and following his own set of morals that may seem ludicrous to a stranger. This all applies to Monterey Jack, IMO. I don't find it irritating; instead, I am a little amused, taking in that comparison of mine.

Bit of a possible spoiler, but does anyone know if the story ever states what happened to the Zebra's nation at the end of the war? I know Equestria had its own super weapons that used the sun, but I don't think it's ever stated if they were activated before the sky was clouded over, which would've been a problem since they required a clear sky in order to power up.

European nations did the same thing to power their economies during the Industrial Revolution, taking over foreign lands for their raw materials. Factor in racism, religion, and death toll, and it became a war neither side could peacefully back out of.

As for Pinkie, the reason I recall she became addicted to party time mint-alls was because they enhanced her Pinkie Sense abilities. She could get a longer and more detailed warning of future events while under their influence, and used that to Equestria's advantage. I kinda wonder if she would have been able to predict the bomb drops before they happened if she hadn't been trying to get clean of her addiction. She knew something bad was going to happen soon, but had no idea what and was desperately trying to find out because she knew time was running out(from her apology letter to Twilight she was in the middle of writing when the bombs hit).

Also, she predicted the bombs would likely happen if she didn't catch a certain group in time so she made plans for everything to be 'sunshine and rainbows' later.
