I noticed a recent story made use of a piece of art of mine for its cover. This surprised me. I'm happy enough to allow others to use my art in their projects, though I like to be asked first or at the very least credited. However, I can't really call out the author in this case, because they attempted to do just that. The only problem is that they sourced someone else. It turns out they pulled the image, an unauthorized and uncredited edit, from a website which is apparently home to a number of unauthorized and uncredited edits.
That such a thing occurs is of course no surprise; this is the internet, after all. However, it's not like artists and others aren't going to find out; this is the internet, after all. Why host a bunch of stolen content? Is the 9gag/eBaums world model really that popular?
Don't you just hate it when that happens??
This is half the reason I'm hesitant to post what little art I do make--I'm always afraid of somebody deciding to plagiarize it or post it somewhere I wouldn't want it posted to begin with. Though I suppose I shouldn't really worry about that. My only saving grace against this is the fact I can't draw worth a damn to begin with. Nobody would want to steal my art because I haven't any worth stealing. xD

Heh, well it does happen, so it's important not to let that stop you. Of course that doesn't mean you should take it lying down either, and part of that's letting folks know where it's happening. Anyways, if you like to draw keep at it and don't be afraid to share it with the world =).
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Have you talked to him and tryed to get it sourced back to you?

I did, and the author was understanding. As said, he technically did fine in terms of adding a source; it just so happened that the source he stumbled upon was unfortunately disreputable.

Well thats good then. I was afraid he wouldn't source you.
Oh, I love the pic by the way. I never saw it before for some reason.
