Apple Bloom's story continues! · 11:19am Feb 13th, 2012
At least, one of them does. I've been wanting to begin the sequels to "Apple Bloom's Family" for ages now - in fact, since before I finished the original story. I've been overwhelmed by the lovely feedback I've received for the story so far, and I'm very sorry to have kept my readers waiting so long for the continuation.
As a reminder - "The Crusaders Take Manehattan" is one sequel to "Apple Bloom's Family", following Sweetie Belle's story of Apple Bloom's parents being Applejack and Orange Counter. I will be writing a second story following Scootaloo's version of events, which I will probably begin after "The Crusaders Take Manehattan" is finished, though possibly sooner.
I hope you all find this continuation satisfying, and that you will enjoy Apple Bloom's journey towards finding her place in the world! Thank you again for reading my work! It means a great deal to me.
Just wondering, are you going to write them as separate endings that can both be true? Or are you going to write a third one with what "actually" happened?
14656 Excellent question! When I first started writing "Apple Bloom's Family", I had two ideas for Apple Bloom's parents, being the stories presented in the fanfic itself. I could have written them as two entirely separate fanfics, but it would have felt a bit weird writing two fanfics in quick succession on the same topic. That's why I chose to blend the two stories into a single fanfic.
The way I ended "Apple Bloom's Family" itself was very intentional - either of the stories could be true, or neither. The conclusion is meant to be about how Apple Bloom relates to the family she has right now - Applejack, Big Macintosh, Granny Smith, and the ponies around her who might as well be family: Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and Cheerilee (not to mention her "Ponyville royal family" connection with Diamond Tiara). I feel that choosing one version of Apple Bloom's parentage to be the "real" one would cheapen the pathos and message of the story.
So, yes. All of the sequels will be their own continuities, in which a different version of events is true. None of the stories is any more "canon" than the others. Readers should feel free to choose whichever one they like best as their version of events. I have a personal favourite, but I'll keep that to myself for now, I think.
Thank you for following Apple Bloom's story! I really appreciate all of the interest.
