And so it begins... · 8:58pm Oct 28th, 2012

Well guys, I lost the bet. One week ago, CodexStoic reached 60,000 words on his novel. Completed or not, he's still reached his end of the bargain.

That said, I have already begun prewriting for my first actual book. I must say, being organized and defining my plot, characters, setting, and conflict before ever writing the first word is... delightfully new. I'm definitely loving every step of it. But you're not here to hear about the new book.

You're here to hear about... o.o Through The Eyes Of Another Pony's fate!

Well, worry not. There's more to come in the future, but there is no denying that my beloved FanFiction is to be put on hiatus after I release the next chapter. It will be within the following week that I bring you this chapter that will hopefully bide you over for several weeks. Hopefully I won't have to put the fic off for more than a couple of months, but I am going to do whatever needs to be done to make it into the world of professional writing.

I'm... a little nervous, I won't lie. I can already hear the first few publishers telling me that they're not interested in publishing my work, but that seems to be the norm these days. I'm also very apprehensive of the day that I end up holding a copy of my first book, as I will probably end up crying like I've not done since I was less than a teenager.

I don't know what my future holds and being ADHD has really set me back most of my life because it's hard to get excited and motivated about things you aren't interested in. So it's been a bit unsettling, making this transition into this person I've become. I've already uninstalled all the games and 'toy' apps off my phone so that I'm not distracted at work. I'm going to be uninstalling my library of games off my computer so that I use my home time to write as well. I'm going to force myself to do chores around the house and focus on squeezing every last drop of narrative inspiration out of every last event around me.

In short, I think writing this book will change me in ways that I do not suspect possible. Much the way TTEOAP has done.

I thank you all for giving me the ability to actually believe in myself. I have no doubts when I say this: I couldn't have done it without you. Really. I did not have the faith required to make this happen. Had it not been for a drunken dare over fourteen months ago, I'd have probably been stuck in the same dead-end job and slowly making the transition from the lovable person that (I think) I am to that guy that's lost so much of his soul to a life without purpose.

Love you guys lots, and I hope my next installment of literary stuff will bring you just as much joy as my last one.

:3 Wish me luck!

I love you... err well it's not love but you get the idea.

Speaking as someone who also has ADHD, I understand completely.

Good Luck on your book ! :scootangel:

I mean like, it's great that you're following your dreams, may your first novel, upon publication, be successful.

I'd wish you luck, but since I'm stuck as your pre=reader, I need to hoard all of the luck I can get!
(Chocobos are dicks like that. XD)

So... Alcohol has essentially determined the path your life is currently on? :3

In all seriousness, I'm glad to hear it. Now, uh... Where can I find out more about this novel of yours, and what publishers are you planning on going to? Paperback or E-book? GIMME THE DETS.

I would write you an essay but no one likes essays. So I'll just say this, good luck and thank you for everything. You're a massive inspiration for me and I'll stand behind you on whatever path you choose.

We need to thank you just as much brother, You've really have brought a lot of joy to my life even more so in this last week So here i am wishing you the best of luck and I look forward to reading your book no matter what.

Sincerely,
BCB

(Ironman12 on DA.)

This seems appropriate for your quest:

have a good time writing that novel. :pinkiehappy:

You can do eet!

You and Seth Rogen are my 2 biggest inspirations.

But don't expect to not be at least slightly distracted by season 3.

Glad to be of assistance! I'll be sure to take a look at whatever book you put out.

good luck man, I look forward to what you do with tteoap when you have the confidence of knowing that you are at professional level :pinkiehappy:

I... Have to wait even longer for the conclusion of chapter 15? :fluttercry::pinkiesad2::applecry::raritycry::raritydespair:

I won't lie to you, I am actually crying right now. Not fake crying, actual crying. Thank goodness my parents aren't home or they'd think I'm an idiot. I'm literally crying as I type this.

I'm really happy for you. Seriously, I'm thrilled that you're taking a big step in your career. That being said, I can't help but be upset that I won't see the conclusion of this story for even longer than I thought. Your story changed me. Not the revised edition, the original. The story itself taught me a bunch about myself, and your personal story helped me overcome a few life challenges I've had, believe it or not. I know I sound strange right now, since TREOAP is technically a comedy adventure, but I don't know how else to explain it. You're the reason I became interested in fan fiction, and MLP fan fiction branched out into a crap ton of life changing things for me, as funny as that may sound.

I'm rambling. I guess what I'm trying to say for you is thanks. Thank you for inadvertently helping to make me a better person. I will never lose faith that one day I will see the conclusion of this story. I'm also hopeful that your professional writing career will be even more successful than your time writing Through the Eyes of Another Pony.

Cheers,
-Key Tapper

Good luck Cards.

The fact that you're making such an effort to changing your lifestyle in order to do this is great. Not many would go so far.
Remember that we'll be behind you every step of the way, as well.
Good luck and Godspeed, you magnificent bastard!

When your novel gets published, let us know and it will become famous because so many people bought it on the first day.:pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:

go and give it your best shot.. and tell us when its going to be published..

i wish you the best of luck in your quest to conquer the world of professional writing.. a shame TTEOAP has to go on hiatus, but it's for a greater cause

Good Luck on your story, and let us know when your book is published.

I think a few of us. Well I can only speak for myself, but when you are published, I will look the book up. Good Luck.

((I actually got a book about publishing, if you want I can send it to you when you are closer to being finished with your work if you want))

Once again, good luck, and have fun with writing.

If a publisher rejects you, that's THEIR loss. You're an amazing writer and I'm confident that whatever you write, you'll write well. Best of luck to you, and I'll be sure to read it when it comes out!

Best of luck to you brony. No matter what you've got one kick ass community to back you up. Best of luck on your project and may your labor bare the fruit of awesome.

P.s. I found this pic online a few months ago and just thought, hell yes.

Well, I really want to see you finish TtEoAP. . .

But let me know when I can get your book.

Good luck, Cards! I want to know what this book is when you get it published, (because it will happen!) so make sure you tell us!

Congratulations on moving up to the big leagues of writing, and on finding your special talent. :scootangel: TTEOAP will be sorely missed, but it's good to hear another chapter is coming! :pinkiesad2:

Is it against Fimfic rules to advertise your more professional works? If not, we'd looove to hear what your book is when (because if is an obvious yes) it comes out! :raritystarry:

The book. It must be had.

And TtEoP must be finishd!!!!!!! :pinkiecrazy:

(I really hope you can work on both) :pinkiehappy:

Pony on sir.

Oh wow, I've known that this was coming, but it still makes me kinda sad. Of course even if it takes 20 years to see this fic get done, I'll be waiting through all the 2 week trips to the bank and the 5 hour toilet scrubbings. As I've told you on a few occasions, your fic has changed me in so many ways. I can say with complete confidence that I wouldn't be as happy as I am now without you writing TtEoAP. It's so weird to think about. That over a year ago when I was just trolling people in the early parts on google docs would lead me to where I am right now. Just spending days screwing around on that, and all of a sudden I had friends beside me, all of whom I still maintain daily contact with. I can't put into words how thankful I am to you. I wish you luck in your writing career, because I know you'll get published. I'll be the first one to buy it bro.

good luck man, you deserve success!
also... *incoming sappy moment*:fluttercry:
i have to say thank you man, TTEoAP has made me smile for a long time and the rewrites are so great i was gobsmacked. you commented on my first story saying it had potential, even going as far as to let me borrow your amazing oc ponies in my own lame attempts at writing. its guys like you that keep us unknowns writing, a great guy with an amazing sense of humor and not afraid to give back to your fans.
so from me personally, and I'm sure a good few others you touched with your amazing style, thank you and good luck.:pinkiehappy:
*brohoof* [^_^] /)(\ [^_^]

Damn.... Ill just go cry til hiatus is over. I just wanted to post this.

I was going to agree with these, but then I saw a couple stories that looked interesting and had to read those first.

Hmm. Well. I wish you luck in your endeavor! As a fellow with ADHD, I completely understand how easy it is to allow yourself to be distracted and not focus on the work at hand, ESPECIALLY if its not interesting. (EDIT: Realization. I'm supposed to be working on my Goverment 222 assignment right now, due in...3 hours 12 minutes. Hurrah for irony!) For me, if the assignment is dull, just about anything, even the most mediocre activity suddenly seems so much more appealing by comparison. And I find myself organizing the can of writing implements on my desk by size and color instead of doing my assignment. Its a hard thing to break out of.

Warning, incoherent ramble follows:

I think I would die of boredom if I actually uninstalled my games.I nearly did when we lost power for 6 days after the last hurricane. Reread 28 books during that time, all of which I've read at least a dozen times before. The lack of new stimulation was killing me. Ironically, I'd have used the time to do my own writing since I was lacking distractions...IF MY COMPUTER HAD POWER TO TYPE IT ON. Maybe I'll get a chance this week with hurricane Sandy about to prison rape us in the next couple hours. Got like 12 plot outlines, and a whopping 17 first drafts of the first chapter written, every one of which I scrapped because I didn't like it. But I rambled off the point somewhere 6 lines ago.

Warning: end of ramble.

The CLOSEST I've come to actually uninstalling my games to focus on work is making it so it brings up a virtual stickynote anytime I run steam reminding me I have work to do. That said, should you complete it, I'd be interested in giving it a read. Your a talent author and I tend to like your work. I'd be willing to take a blind jump into a novel you wrote just out of familiarity and enjoyment of your other works. Once more, good luck!

Good luck, sir, from one hopeful novelist to another. :twilightsheepish:

I'll buy it if I can- unfortunately, I doubt I'll be able to, seeing as I live in Canada. Unless you really strike a chord with the publisher (hopefully you'll get published), then I won't be able to get a hardcopy. Can you publish it as an ebook as well? If it shares your writing style, I'd love it. Come to think of it, what will this book be about?

The best of luck to you in your quest to become a writer. It sounds difficult but rewarding. When you do get your first work published, rest assured that I will be one of the first to seek it out. Your writing ability is astounding, considering the circumstances, and I believe with all the effort you plan to put into this, you will be successful. With a reason such as this, I do not even care about your future absence in fanfiction (okay, maybe just a little :fluttershysad:).

I haven't decided what I shall do yet... but first, I need to finish tenth grade...

Good luck to you and don't forget to keep us up-to-date on any developments :D

I love you. It's love. I will tell all my friends when your finish your book, and I will fall asleep proud when it's published. I'll throw a party when you get married, and I'll miss you when you're busy being a big shot and a father. When I don't hear from you for a while, I'll hope you're still happy. When I say "good luck", I'll hope it's not "good bye".

On a less creepy and more serious note, good luck! We'll be here if you need us. Or want us. It's all the same.

Good luck, and please let us know when it's done, what it's called, and when we can buy a copy of it. On another note, A.D.H.D. really does stink.

:rainbowlaugh: Ah, the perils of a short attention span...

Well, good luck! I am going to try and follow in your footsteps. You were what made me start writing and I also have ADHD so I thought it was going to be even harder. But knowing you suffer as well and still made it gives me new hope. You are one of the best things I found by some miracle of fate, and now you are moving on. Well, somewhat. Look forward for your return but until then, I will try to do what is slowly becoming what I hope to be the best thing I do. Write.

Good luck bro, can't wait for the next chapter of TTEOAP:pinkiehappy:

Give em hell, kid.

*Salutes* I wish you luck, sir. We'll be here when you need us. Give them hell.

Good Luck!

I wish you the best of luck and if you do get a book published can I get a first copy signed from you? :D

I wish you the best of luck in what your gonna tackle!:pinkiehappy:

Good luck writing your book, and if it means something ill be reading your book once its published.
:pinkiehappy:
Are you releasing chapter 15 or the rewritten chapters soon?
In the mean time Moar pony fics for me to read I guess.:rainbowkiss:

Good "luck"! I know it's a cliché but I believe that if you really dedicate yourself, anything is possibe.

Good luck with your career!

And don't get discouraged if it gets rejected. A lot.

My english teacher said he had to submit to over 50 publishers before his book, got published. I read it, and it was actually really good.

Point being, we might not hear from you for a while, but i hope you keep on trying to get your book published!

I wish you nothing but the best of luck, bro :heart:. Crazy to think about how far you've come during this fic's life. This story started as a drunken bet, now it's one of the top stories out there and you may become a published writer. You have achieved quite a bit :yay:. Glad to see that this story has done so much for you. It's been so much fun followng nyou and Firewall this past year. Good luck, Lafter . And maybe we could get preview of your story :twilightblush:?

This makes me sad..... I dont like it!:raritydespair:
