Site Move Updates · 8:14pm
We're gonna be moving the site over to a new server shortly. We'll have some downtime while the move happens but it shouldn't be too long.
Keep an eye on this post for any updates, I'll tell you guys when we know what time the downtime will start at.
Right now we're just testing things on the new box.
Update: Downtime should be around an hour at most if everything goes as planned. Will update on facebook if things aren't.
Update: Server move starting at 4:30pm EST / 9:30pm BST (15 minutes)

What kind of downtime are we talking about? "Not too long" doesn't really tell us anything.
Five minutes? 15 minutes? Half an hour? Three hours? Any time-frame would be appreciated, even if it's just a speculation.
How long will the downtime be, and when is "shortly"?

Uh, no. The actual move last time took about 2-3 hours to be stable (we had it up after about an hour or so) because there were a lot of unforseen config issues.
Stupid question is stupid, I'm aware, but what exactly does it mean by moving to a new server? Is there going to be a new link entirely to the site, or is it... I don't know, that's why I need to ask. Like I said, stupid, but I got to ask.
We won't have to start over, will we? Like, with profiles and everything? I just want to be sure.

Chill the buck out, people. Moving the site means that you copy it and paste it on another server. No stories will disappear at all.

I think Knighty is coding the entire site in a new engine. That way, when we move over, we can have tons of new features like 3D story rendering and increased hyperdatabase algorithms.
Knighty has been working really had on this change, so please don't make her feel bad by posting unnecessary comments. Just be patient!

Was thinking I could pipe up and add that while you're at it, fix/change the word's read function to a once a day calculation.
Will this effect any stories? And where are we moving to? What site? And why? And why has this info got so many blanks that leave me with a million questions? Will MLD be made into a movie? When? What's a gold member (someone said they were one up there)? How do I get to be one? Why wasn't I messaged about this? What will be improved from the sever change?

How old is this mobile device? I use a 4+ year old Samsung Instinct with Opera Mini 4.2 and it does okay until I've read a dozen pages and it runs out of memory. Then I just close the browser and reopen it.
