Dissent/Defiance
I’m going to get arrested for this.
I’m going to get arrested for writing this. Black people are people. Women are people. Queer people are people. Anyone who says otherwise are wrong and unfit to lead, let alone be part of society.
I’m going to get arrested for believing that every person is a person, and all people are given certain unalienable rights by whatever creator there may or may not be, including but not limited to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
I’m going to get arrested for dissent and defiance, for sedition, for demanding the rights of all people be granted unconditionally.
I’m going to get arrested for seeking the truth, for not accepting whatever alternatives they’re trying to feed me.
I’m going to get arrested for holding my country and those who lead it accountable to the same moral standards I hold the common person to.
I’m going to get arrested because I refuse to let my language be twisted to inhibit truth, and nuance. I refuse to let them use MY language as THEIR tool, because my language is beautiful and complex and intricate and powerful.
I’m going to get arrested because words are the only weapon I have, and they’re afraid of that.
We’re going to get arrested because words are the most powerful weapons we have, and they’re afraid of that.
We’re going to get arrested for this.
Hmmm.
