    UK Elections

    Congratulations, Brits.

I was rooting for the Elmo cosplayer, but the Trump cosplayer seems nice. The tweet salt is quite fantastic, gonna mine me some for a while.

    The Outer Worlds

I got the game because it looked like the Fallout fix I needed. Obsidian, who made New Vegas, made it. It looked like Space Fallout and had a lot of similarities. Waited for the Black Friday sale, then grabbed it for $48. Thanks for the holiday, you turkey-eating Americans.

Inauguration · 5:07am Jan 21st, 2017

It's official now. I hope you Americans had a nice presidential inauguration day. No one raised a stink I hope, and the only shots taken involved booze.

I just PRAY that these next 4 years (if we're lucky) pass by swiftly and PAINLESSLY as possible.

I don't want to be drafted in WWIII in my lifetime. :ajbemused:

4390328 Don't worry. You won't be drafted if WW3 explodes. There will just be a brief flash of blinding light, maybe a second of scorching pain, then everything will be alright.

WE'RE ALL GUNNA DIEEEEE!!

4390340 Yeah, she did. It just didn't matter. And Hillary wouldn't start a war. There's no money in it.

4390342 It will be easy to know when it's coming. WWIII will be preceded by furious tweets.

4390340

I wish people would stop doing this. Do not assume that if someone is fearful of the Trump Presidency that they are supportive of Hillary, or even that they are less fearful of her.

They were both terrible candidates.

Of course people caused issues, extremist protesters feel fully justified. Heck where I live collage students riot when their team loses or wins... Basicly waiting for an excuse. Enough people think Trump is the lord of evil or some other insanity that riots will happen

4390815 It wouldn't have mattered. The electoral system is fundamentally broken. The people voted for who they wanted, and they got who the electoral colleges dictated. Even Bernie would have lost because Trump played the system better.

I love how the one person on this blog who voted for the new president is trashing on Hillary for Middle East crap that happened years ago, yet they're willing to overlook racism (don't say he hasn't said anything racist, you don't have to be blatant in order to be racist), sexism, and xenophobia just because he's a businessman instead of a politician.

First off, politicians are the ones who do politics. I get that we need a change, but you wouldn't want a toaster technician working on your car.

Second, I get that he's probably not intending to be racist, or sexist, and he probably doesn't even realize that's what he's doing. The fact remains that the message that he's sending REGARDLESS OF HIS INTENT has become a symbol for people. There are a whole bunch of ignorant people following him. I can't wait to get kicked out of the next Walmart because some idiot thought I was illegal (I'm Dominican, and yes, people have assumed that I was an undocumented immigrant).

Third, why the fuck would you support a guy who picks a dumbass like Mike Pence to be his running mate?

That's all for tonight. If you don't want me talking about this publicly, PM me or just don't start the comment war at all ;)

4391531 Frankly, I'll be happy if Trump doesn't manage to start a war over midnight tweets. Beyond that... we'll see.

4391205
Pence is Trump's assassination shield. Kill Trump, you get Pence. It's brilliant.

4391855

Mike "If he likes cock, he gets the shock" Pence.

Mike "If dick he desires, prep the electric wires" Pence.

Mike "If you're a dyke, the voltage will spike" Pence.

Hilariously enough, Mike Pence is the runner up to Milo Yiannopoulos in LGBT Nation's person of the year award.

People are nervous about change. It's nothing new, yet the endless fear mongering is getting ridiculous.

The base line for personal success and happiness is still the same as it ever was. The timeless combo of hard work and determination.

4391914 True enough, and we did survive 8 years of W. Surely Trump can't do much worse. He does at least know business, and if anyone knows how to crawl back out of deep debt it's him.

Actually, I shouldn't rag on W, he did okay.

4391845 The more I hear about Trump's administration, the more I think it was some sort of elaborate triple dog dare done among millionaires and world leaders. I keep expecting a news report about how the whole world just got trumped.

4391914 This is getting ridiculous. People keep reducing my fears of social injustice that will be brought about by many of Trump's SUPPORTERS (whom neither he nor his political allies have done anything to punish or even admonish) to simple fear of change. That's hardly fair. I don't appreciate the dismissal of my personal feelings. They are real, just like yours. And the baseline for my personal happiness changes when people who attack my existence are allowed to do as they please with no repercussion. The baseline may be the same for you, but it's out of my reach now.

Again, I'm not saying Trump is evil and attacking my life or anything, but he isn't bringing about positive change for me. That's the basis of the whole "not my president thing." He's not a president who is for me; even if it's unintentional, he's against me, and he's leading a legion of racists, sexists, homophobes and xenophobes against people like me.

4392460

I hear what you are saying brother. However if you feel like people are dismissing your personal feelings, well that's on you. It's critical in these uncertain political times to remember that people will have different opinions. Honestly I'm willing to bet we actually agree on a lot of different topics, but one of my core believes is that we are the arbiters of our own destiny.

Life will always be fraught with adversity and personal struggles. It doesn't matter if they are external or internal forces. It's only through our skills, preparation, and actions that we are able to overcome these obstacles and mold the future into our ideal one. I know it doesn't seem like a very revolutionary concept, but this principle is a very powerful tool regardless of the circumstances.

4393073 Ok, I agree with what you're saying, and I didn't want to reply with an argument, but no, it's not on me if other people are refusing to listen to me, it's on them. I am the arbiter of my own destiny, as you put it, as are we all, but no one can choose how to feel, and I'm not one for pretending about things that move me as deeply as politics.

If someone is essentially telling me that I'm a basic animal incapable of dealing with change, I will take offense. Of course I can deal with change, I'm a grown human being, but I will still do everything I can to prevent NEGATIVE change. And if that doesn't work, so be it. 4 years isn't that long anyway. Honestly, there are only a few things that I absolutely cannot tolerate in this world: people putting words in my mouth, and people telling what I should and shouldn't think or feel.
