    Its been ages

I did not have anything on my mind for the new chapter that was just published. I'll be honest, its been years and I forgot about this place a lot. I've been busy with life and its many ways of screwing with me so writing was the last thing on my mind. Then when I actually found some time and was cleaning out a lot of files I found the unfinished chapter and decided to work on it for whatever

    Where have I been?

I'm still here. You'll see me on now and then or practically everyday and the reason for that is the fact I have my page up in the browser at pretty much any given time. I'm still writing here and there when I have time or can't sleep but, I still have school as well so the scheduling is hectic at most.

    Life so far and Scheduling

So I've not been updating as much as readers would like and I base this off of my feelings as a reader. I'm an avid reader and just a fledgling of a writer so I can say with confidence that when a story I'm currently reading takes quite a while to update, I start having mixed feelings about it. I understand that people have their circumstances and there is nothing they can do at times but it

So many stories. So little time.

I'm finding myself with very little time to write due to things such as classes and life. So I need to put my focus on one story at a time. Which brings me to the point. I want your opinions on which story should be my focus until I find the time to work on the rest. For those that are curious, Dimming Flame is one I'll work on in between the one that'll be the focus since that one is going to

    Paradox Ending

Paradox Scholar is the very first story I really worked hard on and helped me improve my writing bit by bit. The ending to the story was left in a very ambiguous way due to my thoughts on the future of the story itself. The thought came to me as I looked at the statistics of the story. Not a lot of people actually read it and I get that it was because of it having a lot of editing errors. I'm

I don't understand the featured system Round 2 · 7:41am Jan 9th, 2017

Alright, so I had a previous post complaining about the way things are featured on the site and once again I just can't help and be confused. What are the damn criteria needed for such a thing to happen? Does a new chapter have to be out? Is it an actual system or is it really just a mod putting things he/she likes the most just because? Do clops really have to be highlighted when I have my mature option on? I mean there are some mature stories out there that deal with issues such as suicide, rape, and murder to name a few but no all that's out there is clop and the occasional dark fic due to whatever the mystery criteria actually is.

There are good fics out there either finished or left alone due to poor reception or few people actually reading. I get that not every fic can be golden and that not all people are interested. But the thing that pisses me off is the fact that the featured only shows newer ones without putting up older finished gems. A cycle between new and old would do wonders for letting people read many different genres. I know what you all might be thinking and it's only partially true. Yes, I am a bit frustrated I don't get featured but that's just it. Any author would feel the same and thus they improve. Maybe it's the fact I still don't really get the whole concept of group tags or maybe it's because I use the auto approval because I'm impatient. I don't know which it is or what it is but I do know there are fics that deserve praise. Not necessarily mine but some that have been finished and don't really have that many likes despite being great and having sequels.

This story about Scootaloo and Rainbow is just one of the few that I'm talking about. Sure, it may have gotten featured or it might not have in the past but I believe that stories such as this are good enough to bring up again even when completed. Why just ignore finished works and only focus on the new? It doesn't make sense to me as a reader to just pass up the opportunity to read stories such as this just because there are no new chapters out and it's not featured or listed due to mods or whatever system is in place.

Well, that's all I wanted to say. Rant over and I'll go back to writing my own stories and hopefully pump out a book or something. As always, thank you for taking the time to read any of my stories or blogs. Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think of my obvious butt hurt. Have a great day!

I've found that certain things just get featured more.

You write clop and a bunch of it? Featured.

You write some sob story about Sunset Shimmer? Featured.

You write a oneshot with random and comedy tags? Featured.

You write an adventure saga with multiple chapters and 50,000+ words? Um...who want's to read that?

At least, that's how I see it working.

I get that man. I just don't understand this whole thing at all. I mean, granted, I write a good number of fics with Sunset as the focus but it's not just to get featured. They're stories I've honestly wanted to write at the time due to them swimming around in my head. Some characters are easier to write than most and she's definitely one of them due to not having much fleshed out other than the movies.

The whole part about 50,000+ words is true as well. I've read several fics that have had such word counts and they receive very few views or likes and that's just a travesty all it's own. I think a lot more people would write more or stick to their stories without dropping them if their works received even just a bit more recognition.

4375364 Very true. I have a fic I'm doing now that I'm pretty proud of that's 70,000+ words and has nothing compared to my others in terms of views or comments. I hate that...but I keep going. Its just that most people don't.

It's all about getting a certain amount of likes in a short span of time, probably. The ways you achieve this is to get a big following, add your stories to a ton of groupd relative to the story or just by sheer luck and a good story.

So if that's the case then it's really all down to just likes. Which means it's really down to the readers on whether or not they ever choose to leave a like or just read it and save it. I mean, I understand that when people favorite or track the story it means they like it and it feels great to know they do but the fact that the story will go unnoticed mainly due to just pure likes is a shame. I'll agree that it would probably also have to do with the whole grouping and following but even then with what you stated it would still be down to likes. Either way, I still think that putting in old finished works would be good. If it truly is like you've said then it still doesn't answer for not posting great stories that are already completed.

I think that what goes in the featured box is the stories which get a sudden influx of thumbs up. But people are more likely to favorite a story then they do thumb up.
