Review #12 - Cant, Abandoned, Starlight's Failed Dramatic Entrance · 4:14pm Dec 8th, 2016

Okay, I swear I did not mean for these to be all the same author... Lol.

Anyway, this time I have three stories for you, they are:

Cant by Rambling Writer
Abandoned by Rambling Writer
Starlight's Failed Dramatic Entrance by Rambling Writer

Cant by Rambling Writer
(Horror)
There's an old book that's falling apart. Twilight wants to copy it down to preserve it. But it needs to be as accurate and precise as possible, to preserve the state of the original. That shouldn't be too hard. After all, it's not like the text will change whenever she looks away. Right?

Review
Twilight finds a book she wishes to save by copying it down. First, her spacing is wrong, then the margin, then the letters are leaning to the left, then to the right... and so on.

First, this has amazingly epic pacing... it is simply perfect for this type of story. It has surprisingly few errors in the text, which means it is that much better. And it feels very planned out. However, it seems as though the "Horror" tag does not quite fit in the conventional way, which leaves one expecting something different to what it is.

Score: 8.5/10 Recommendation: Recommended.

Personal Thoughts: Holy cow that was... wow... I believe I am speechless for this one... it just feels so real...

Abandoned by Rambling Writer
(Alternate Universe, Drama, Sad)
While trying to fix Starlight's meddling with time, Twilight winds up face-to-face with herself. As she prepares to leave, her other self tries to persuade her to stay and help save this version of Equestria. And her other self-makes some pretty compelling arguments.

Review
The First Chapter: Twilight comes face-to-face with herself in a world where the Smooze is taking over, and wants Other Twilight to stay and help.
Other Twilight leaves to go stop Starlight Glimmer.
The Second Chapter: Twilight comes face-to-face with herself in a world where the Smooze is taking over, and Other Twilight wants her to say. Twilight leaves the Other Twilight to go stop Starlight Glimmer.

Okay, so this story feels just a bit drawn out, "like to little jam on to much bread," but it's not too bad. It has few errors in the text, which is typical of Rambling Writer. And it's tags most definitely fit it to a "T."

Score: 7.5/10 Recommendation: Not Recommended.

Personal Thoughts: Even though it is a good story, it is kinda boring... hence the "Not Recommended."

Starlight's Failed Dramatic Entrance by Rambling Writer
(Comedy)
After Twilight destroyed her utopia of equal ponies, Starlight knew she would strike back. And now, she's ready. Her plan is flawless; sublime, even. She will make Twilight regret the day she ever crossed paths with her. She even has a dramatic entrance planned for maximum effect. Now if only she can find Twilight without getting lost in the Castle of Friendship.

Review
Starlight sneaks into Twilight's Castle, and gets very very very very lost... And finds a great many broom closets while she's at it.

Goodness, that amazing pacing. It is long enough to be a good read, but short enough to not take hours. As usual with Rambling Writer, there are very few errors in the text (I gotta find out who pre-reads those). It also feels extremely planned out. And it's "Comedy" tag is true.

Score: 8.5/10 Recommendation: Highly Recommended.

Personal Thoughts: I almost died laughing several times while reading this.

The horror tag on Cant is a little odd, but very relevant. While nothing bad happens to Twilight on the surface, the point of the tag is that the behavior we see is a result of her unknowingly falling under the book's curse,

I was kinda feeling that but wasn't sure how to put it; so I left it as it is now.
