I still dont use fimfic anymore but i thought this was funny lol

If you remember me then you remember https://www.fimfiction.net/user/65660/FlanChan too most likely. When Skype died from the burning cancer of irrelevancy I lost contact with her and didn't know how to find her... and then Twitter Dot Com randomly decided that it would recommend a cosplay of hers to me, so we got to talk again after like 4 years of not even knowing how to contact each other.

    PECK. NECK.

I spent 25 hours on A Hat in Time this past week and I don't regret it. Anyone who ever liked Mario Sunshine or any other Gamecube era platformer should pick this up on Steam/XBOX1/PS4. God this game was so good.

The "Gimmick" Pokemon Generation and The Gimmicks' Potential. · 7:32pm Dec 5th, 2016

Pokémon Sun and Moon are very interesting in that most new Pokémon are very slow, have unique moves, and unique abilities. Some of these Pokémon have gimmicks that save it, and gimmicks that fall flat on their face. Today I want to talk about why those gimmicks either rock or suck, starting with possibly the biggest gimmick pokemon this generation.

Golisopod

This thing

SUCKS

Like, this thing sucks really bad. This thing will be RarelyUsed at best and never seen in VGC. I absolutely see NO potential in this thing. Bug priority, Sucker Punch, good moveset, beastly stats. What could be wrong with Golisopod? Well, everything else. It is walled and beaten by very common Pokémon in the higher tiers such as Florges, Toxapex, Tentacruel, etc. Mainly Bulky Fairy, Water, and Poisons. Specifically Poisons. Sucker Punch is nice, yeah, but you have to realize that it can switch in to absolutely no Psychic type. It's special defense is garbage and it's ability is absolutely worthless. It seems nice, but it doesn't even let you finish your damn attack like Wishiwashi's ability does. You just skedaddle. Plus, if they're resistant to Bug or Dark, like say, Toxapex or Skarmory (their defense is too much for Sucker Punch), one Brave Bird will put it right out of commission because Bug/Water is a garbage typing. Not to mention weak to Stealth Rock, which every serious team has. If its ability let you finish your attack before switching like Wishiwashi's Schooling, it would be good. But it's not. Which sucks, because this thing looks insane.

Wishiwashi

Another cool mon with wasted potential. There's not much to really discuss with this one. It's HP and Speed hold it back from being good, and its movepool is very shallow. Mainly its HP. If its HP was like... 70, I wouldn't be talking about how bad it is. But alas, it is 45. Which is really bad. Like, really bad. Its stats are also very deceptive, as a lot of things actually wall Wishiwashi like Toxapex and Chansey, and its movepool is too shallow to make use of a physical movepool.

Mimikyu

You have no idea how glad I am this thing is worth something. Solid attack, solid speed, and a free Substitute makes Mimikyu nothing to sneeze at. You let Mimikyu set up on you and its game. Swords Dance, Shadow Claw, Play Rough, Leech Life, and even Wood Hammer for some reason. If you want to use a Mimikyu on an actual team, I'm happy to say that it can put in some find work for you.

Minior

BE AFRAID OF THIS THING. This thing looks stupid as hell but it can wreck you faster than you will know. Shell Smash with Mental Herb to restore Defenses, then Acrobatics, Psychic, Power Gem, Earthquake, Explosion, Stealth Rock, good bulk before 50%, great sweeper after 50%. Just... dang man. This thing is scary and you should be afraid of it. Do not sleep on Minior.

And that's most of the new Pokémon in Battle Spot/Competitive environment. There's a lot of other Pokémon that are gimmicky but I found these 4 to be the most gimmicky. I can explain any other Pokémon if you want, I've seen most of them in action by now.

I'm so disappointed they screwed up the 2 Pokémon I was looking forward to, Crabrawler's evo and Wimpod's Evo. At least I got Alolan Muk though. That's nice at least.

Very neat to hear, i've yet to pick up a copy but probably will in the new year. Do you usually have an allrounder team or do you specialize or you swap in and out?

4329764 I base my teams around Alolan Muk, as I feel he is very underappreciated and very much Viable. My current team is A-Muk, M-Sharpedo, Tapu Fini, A-Marowak, Mamoswine, and Mandibuzz.

4329770 Any chance of doing a post on how the various alolans measure up, or at least one on why A-muck is underappreciated?

4329771 I can make a strategy guide-esque thing for A-Muk, if wanted. And yeah I can compare the new Alolan Forms to their previous forms, most of them if not all of them got improvements.

4329771 Wait. No. Sandslash isn't better. RIP Sandslash.

4329774 Sure, I'm game for learning more about pokemon and suchs. I like these blogs. and poor Sandslash.

Toxapex: Can wall just about everything! set ups denied as well! a 4x attack shadow sneak from aegislash did almost no damage on that toxapex I used. Sadly I messed up it's moveset. Instead of venoshock it will now have scald for pokemon like aegislash and regenerator because that's OP already.

Minior: Can't get a status condition with it over 50% hp either

Wishiwashi: I'm thinking aqua ring and leftovers can keep it full power a little longer ... maybe. I'm not using it though.

4331817 I didn't include Tox cause it's not much of a gimmick and more of a wall of pain. You can gimmick it with poison nonsense but its more used as a impenetrable wall. also Wishiwashi works beste with an Iapapa Berry because if it goes out of schooling HP it doesn't go back into schooling. Iapapa berry restores 1/2 your HP as long as you aren't a -Def nature. So in Wishiwashi's case, why would you be. You would be Quiet nature.
