    Ponyfeather Edition of Mendacity!

Very, very belated post, this, and I daresay many folks who would be interested in this have already found out one way or another on their own, but better late than never, I suppose. As of, um, about a month ago, Mendacity is available to order from Ponyfeather Publishing, in both hardcover and softcover editions!

    Not Dead Yet!

Well! Um. It's, ah, been a while, hasn't it? Lots of water under the bridge, lots of stories unwritten, lots of comments unanswered...

    Calling all artists!

Well! The first chapter of my de-ponyfied version of Rise and Fall is complete, and all that remains is the final tidbits and tiddlywinks for those folks who most generously opted for one of the higher reward tiers. I just completed the illustration for the chapter this evening, and, well...My artistic chops, it would seem, are not quite up to

The Rise and Fall of the Dark Lord...Sassafras?

Yes, you read correctly; Sassafras, not Sassaflash. Having mulled the idea over for some time, I've decided it's time I began writing again—and my current rather impecunious state helped me narrow down what to write rather nicely. The possible Celestia fic I mentioned may still happen, but today is not its day—nor will my own worldbuilding yet see dawn, as that's still in rather too

The Rise and Fall of the Dark Lord Sassaflash is Complete!

Exactly what it says on the tin. More than 100,000 words later, my tale of an angsty necromancer and her unflappable minion and friend has come to a close. Here it be. If you haven't already taken a gander, and if you liked Mendacity (or heck, even if you didn't), please, take a look—and if you've

A Duet Beneath the Canterhorn · 10:37pm Sep 18th, 2012

Well, there's no music associated with it yet, but here are the full lyrics to the song sun by Lyra and Bon Bon in chapter VIII of Mendacity. I did patch together something vaguely resembling a tune, but I have very little talent for composing music, so I've passed on that burden to my mother, who is (A.) Surprisingly pleased by the fact that I'm writing pony fanfiction and (B.) More importantly, is very familiar with the kind of folk songs and lullabies on which I based this song. Hopefully, this'll tide y'all over until that's finished:

The Wild Winds

O, have you heard the wild winds howl
When the air is wet and warm?
And have you feared for life and love
When faced with a mighty storm?
If ever, O, ever a pony cursed
The wrath of flood and blaze
It was I when I lost my green-eyed love
With her mark of shining rays

I walked alone for many a day
On paths nopony knows
I wandered East to far away,
Where teak and ginkgo grows

I met a noble qilin there
Whose mane swirled in the breeze
I told her of my long-lost love
And begged her tell me, please,
If ever, O, ever in bamboo grove
Or mirrored in lacquered glaze
Had she seen my love with her eyes of green
And her mark of shining rays

She said, I’ve heard the wild winds howl
Outside the garden walls
I’ve watched koi swim in moonlit lakes
Beneath the moonlit falls
But never, O, never she said to me
Never in all my days
Have I seen your love with her eyes of green
And her mark of shining rays

I walked alone for many a day
On paths nopony knows
I wandered West to far away,
Where sage and mesquite grows

I met a lonesome phoenix there
Who I thought ill at ease
I told him of my long-lost love
And begged him tell me, please,
If ever, O, ever near boiling spring
Or glimpsed through sulfur haze
Had he seen my love with her eyes of green
And her mark of shining rays

He said, I’ve heard the wild winds howl
While I searched for a friend
Gliding beneath the fire-red leaves,
Or tossed upon the wind
But never, O, never he said to me
Never in all my days
Have I seen your love with her eyes of green
And her mark of shining rays

I walked alone for many a day
On paths nopony knows
I wandered North to far away,
Where fir and hemlock grows

I met a fierce-eyed griffon there
Free of laws and decrees
I told her of my long-lost love
And begged her tell me, please,
If ever, O, ever on mountain crag
Or on snow-skimming sleighs
Had she seen my love with her eyes of green
And her mark of shining rays

She said, I’ve heard the wild winds howl
I’ve danced with wendigos
I’ve flown above the drifting clouds
And dived beneath ice floes
But never, O, never she said to me
Never in all my days
Have I seen your love with her eyes of green
And her mark of shining rays

I walked alone for many a day
On paths nopony knows
I wandered South to far away,
Where fig and upas grows

I met an ahuitzotl there
Who swam by sunken trees
I told him of my long-lost love
And begged him tell me, please,
If ever, O, ever in jungle thick
Or on branch that bends and sways
Had he seen my love with her eyes of green
And her mark of shining rays

He said, I’ve heard the wild winds howl
I’ve fished in stream and mere
Mapinguari has hunted me
And I have hunted fear
But never, O, never he said to me
Never in all my days
Have I seen your love with her eyes of green
And her mark of shining rays

I walked alone for many a day
On paths nopony knows
I wandered Home from far away
Where oak and maple grows.

I met a hooded pony there
Who’d wandered overseas
I told her of my long-lost love
And begged her tell me, please,
If ever, O, ever on distant shore
Or in the sunlit bays
Had she seen my love with her eyes of green
And her mark of shining rays

She said, I’ve ventured West to fire
And East I’ve sallied forth
I’ve braved the heat of the sultry South
And the snows of the freezing North
But never, O, never she said to me
As her hood she withdrew
And looked at me with eyes of green
Did I stop looking for you.

I cannot wait to see what she comes up with. The song was an amazing addition to the story.

So, is bringing up the need for a tune to this song you wrote how your mother found out you're writing MLP fanfiction? :P
(wow, that was awkwardly worded)

That song was amazing. I had to have read that part in the chapter about 5 times...

...Thank you for this. The addition of the song in the chapter was just beautiful, and I'm overjoyed to see there's a full version. If I was any competent with music, I'd consider putting something together...

Heh heh. Actually, she was aware of it before; she's not exactly sure what to make of my being a brony and writing fanfiction (or of the whole concept of bronies in general), but she's sufficiently used to my oddness that I don't think it fazed her all that much.

You and me both.

I'm not even ashamed of the emotions the end of this made me feel. It's really well put together.

I actually began singing this when I saw it. In class. Very quietly, but still. This is simply beatiful, and I cannot wait to see the finished version

I will consider myself a psychic if the finished version sounds anything like the way i envisioned it :pinkiecrazy:

I was eating a sandwich while reading, and I was unfortunate enough to have just taken a large bite when I got to the end of the chapter.

Needless to say, I got pretty choked up.

I had not seen your mom had assisted you in creating a tune for the song, but the way I figured it out came out a bit different than sung.. Hm.
