Hey there, sorry to disappoint, but this is actually 2dextreem, Loyal's editor and co-writer of all your favorite stories.
I've logged on to her account today to exercise a little executive oversight on some of the projects we have going on. It's been three weeks since the last time she's logged in, and over a month since I've been able to get in contact with her on Skype. Not too unusual, given how the past few years have gone, but I'm about at the end of my patience with how stagnant everything has become.
Guys, I love Loyal's stories as much as you all, if not more. Some of the best fun I've had with this fandom has been being able to flex my imagination and bring entertainment to the fans of these crossovers. Firstly, don't panic; I don't plan on quitting, and I'm sure neither does Loyal. But it's with a heavy heart that I feel like I must do something that's been a long time coming.
As of today, I am officially declaring on Loyal's behalf that all currently in-progress stories are being put on HIATUS. Yes, that includes Mass Effect: Shades of Twilight. While the next chapter is technically in development, progress has been at a near standstill for months and shows no sign of improving until Loyal sorts her life out. I'm doing this without her blessing, but I feel like she would agree it has to be done, and I'm just the one who has to do it for her. These feel like as much my stories as hers at this point, and I would rather definitively put a cap on them and shove them in the freezer than leave them out to stagnate while the fans hold out hope that they will see an update any time soon.
So... yeah. Doctor Whooves, Sly, and Mass Effect are going away for a little while. Officially. I honestly can't tell you when they will be back, but not for the foreseeable future. If anyone has any questions, you can comment here or PM me directly. Hopefully, this will all be over soon and we can get back to providing closure to all of those stories you're all waiting to see. (Seriously guys, ME3: Harmony for all is gonna be so good.)
But I have to be honest... I'm not holding my breath.
Sounds like the focus needs to be less on others and more on taking care of herself. I wish you both well in all future events.

Speaking as one of her biggest fans, I hope she gets what she needs to put herself back in order.

I saw this coming ever since we started getting one chapter a year. That's usually not a good sign. I'm just glad you came out and said it instead of leaving us guessing.
If you guys eventually decide you can't continue, could you release plot outlines of what you had planned?

I will have some actual Bioware Mass Effect goodness early next year when Andromeda comes out, so I am not upset with this. Hope she can get things calmed down enough for her in real life to be able to come back to this at a later time. Till then, both of you take care!

That's a shame, but I will wait. Personal lives do have to take priority over something like this.

Ah. As a writer who's day to day crushes their drive to put fingers to keyboard, I feel Loyal's pain. As an editor that gets obsessively fixated on other people's work, my condolences. Nothing hurts more than a stalled project when you just can't do anything more than hope your contemporary gets the fire back.
As an avid reader of Loyal's work, I'll just say I'm not going anywhere. When/if there's more to read, I'll be there to read it. I know it's not much, but you can at least know that I've loved reading Loyal's work, and 2dextreem, I'm sure your contributions have no small part in that. Here's for hoping we can all get ourselves sorted.
4047549 I'm sorry if my original comment was unclear. If fics die then that's fine; I'm saddened by it but the author's real life take precedence by far. I just really wish more authors wrote a fairly quick blog like this explaining that people shouldn't hold their breath for the next update.

For the previous years, L2L and 2Dextreem did say, from times to times, that the fanfic writing was slowed down because of a busy job, and many issues. They still managed to give us 3 chapters of "Shades of Twilight" since then.
It's far from authors who just fall utterly silent and abandon their unfinished fanfics, not even bothering to change the Incomplete Tag.
Hardly a surprise at this point, but still nice to get some confirmation. Thanks for taking the time to let us know and thank you for the work you put into making these stories great.
I think you should try to get her permission as soon as possible. I don't know L2L, but some people wouldn't take change of status well if they discover it by logging in to the site rather than from the co-authour's message. I'd hate to see your team break up.
I've moved the story to "Hopefully not really dead" shelf months ago.
