So overall thought it was a meh ep. MLP sometimes has this problem where the bulk of the episode is just going through the motions until the Main chracters of the ep figure out the right thing (this, the one where they fix up Twilight's castle, exc.)
That said, it can work sometimes like with the Saddle Row ep. Maybe it just comes down to timing and narrative flow.
Anyway though, seeing all the recent fics to come out of it, a potential new minor antogonist, and all the cooking has gotten me reinterested in an idea I've toyed around with in my head but might as well post it here and see what you think:
Pinkie Pie is a good chef, like a really good chef. Her friends say it, Mr. and Mrs. Cake say it, and with all her help on recent school events (when not combating Equestrian magic run amok) even Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna say it. The latter two understand how important it is to foster one's talents and want Pinkie to succeed in her life goals, especially with Senior Year fast approaching. Plus, they feel at least a little indebted for the having their school saved multiple times.
That's why they've offered Pinkie a chance to hone her cooking skills over the summer at the most celebrated cooking institute in the world. It may just be for the summer, but the work will be demanding and the competition will be stiff.
