The purpose of a story is that it's a story. It can be more, but it can never be less.

    Friendship is Magic: the Musical

So I've been trying to find ways out of my recent funk, and this was one of the most recent attempts. I thoroughly enjoyed the freshman season of Hazbin Hotel, particularly the outstanding musical numbers and how the whole season could, with just a few small modifications, be made into a Broadway style stage musical.

So I figured hell, why not do the same with Friendship is Magic?

    Our Last Anniversary

I've been radio silent on social media since my now ex-wife and I announced our split. A few days ago, I was moved to write this and post it on Facebook. Figured I might as well post it here as well.

    Folks say it's pretty good.

    State of the Author 2023

    It's bad.

    Real bad.

So it should come as no surprise that my wife and I are divorcing. We're having to take it slow because she's so close to the end of her degree and I want her to be in a good place to help take care of our boys. We're still co-habitating, still friends.

This is the World We Live In · 4:48pm Jun 12th, 2016

This is the world we live in
Petty squabbles tear us apart
The young are ignored or condemned
The old are ignored or condemned
We have lost control
This is the world we live in
Bodies not cold yet the calls begin
Calls for vengeance and bloodshed
Demands for answers to unanswerable questions
History has been rewritten today
No one will care in a week
This is the world we live in
Our leaders offer thoughts and prayers
They do not offer answers
We condemn them and spit on them
Yet we follow their example
We offer thoughts and prayers and move on
Satisfied we have done our part
This is the world we live in
Blood not dry yet political lines drawn
We frantically point our fingers around us
Desperately we seek an “other” to blame
Some cry religion while others cry ONE religion
Conclusions are reached without facts
There is no time, we must know NOW
This is the world we live in
Tears of loved ones fall and dry and vanish
Soon none will care anymore
And then it will happen again
And then we will point our fingers
And we will offer our thoughts
And we will offer our prayers
But there will be no solutions
There will be no introspective thoughts
And the numbers will rise
And we will shrug our shoulders
And we will move on
And say that this is just the world we live in
And we will accept this as fact
Even as the blood of children rises
Even as the blood of innocents rises
Higher and higher it rises
And just before we slip under
Just before we drown in our ignorance
And our disinterest
And our callousness
And our selfishness
We will say aloud to any who will listen
That there was nothing we could have done
After all
This is the world we live in

The takeaway, at least, for me.

(I'm from Kissimmee, btw)

This world is bucked up. Wanna find a new world? We're collecting ponies to head over to the new world. We'll need writers.
