Hum. If you're a fantasy fan, I'd recommend Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller books, starting with The Name of the Wind. The basic premise is that there's a legendary hero who vanished, and somebody tracks them down to record their story. So, the tale of the book is literally narrated by the principle character, who in turn relates other stories as part of the greater whole. It's a story about storytelling, so it might suit a fanfic writer like yourself. I certainly enjoyed it.
