Had a pretty good time, all things considering. Sunday was a little weird because there really weren't any panels I was interested in. I went to the voice acting panel at 10:00, and when that was over, there really wasn't a lot else to do. I'd hoped to go to the "Learn to play the MLP collectible card game" room and do just that, but the room wasn't open on Sunday. So I ended up just wandering around for about an hour and then driving home. Shoulda just bought a one-day pass, really. Ah, well. At least I got to listen to some voice actors talk about their craft. Andrea Libman and Kelly Sheridan, to be exact, along with a man whose name escapes me.
I bought a lot less than I have in the past. My pain in the ass dog has basically drained my money reservoir nearly dry. She's lucky she's cute and really, really good at her job of guarding the house.
Anyway, here's what I picked up:
I already have a Pinkie Pie glass, so now I have Top Three Best Ponies to hold my beverages. That's a good thing because I feel bad drinking anything other than chocolate milk out of my Pinkie glass. And I currently have a big container of apple juice in my fridge to put in that Applejack glass.
I couldn't resist this Adagio. I love the people that makes these, and I bought a Fili-Second from them two years ago. It killed me not to buy the Sonata one to go with it, but I'm not made of money. Did take a picture, though. I have that, at least.
I loved this Celestia. That weird dark patch along the left side is just a shadow, not a discoloration. I didn't notice it until I uploaded the picture. Anyway, though she seems a little sad, this Celestia was so detailed and gorgeous that I had to get it. Now that I have three, I can make a nice display in my room with them. There were so many others that were great, including a giant Luna and Celestia piece that was $250. If I didn't have the dog, I'd have probably bought that one, but I can't justify the expense. I could barely justify the expense of the two that I did get. I sold it to myself as room enhancers.
So that's the report from BABSCon. I little lackluster on my last day, but I got to see some fun panels and talk with some great writers. I enjoyed Saturday immensely. All except the part where there was no episode. I was looking forward to that communal watch experience...
I won a little jewelry wire pinkie pie for $41 that's now hanging from my rear view mirror. Very happy :) other than that all I got was a $3 sticker.
Ah, those are nice! I love the Celestia in particular.
Oh man, wish I'd known you were churning for events on Sunday. There was a stealth fanfic panel Sunday at noon which wasn't on any of the schedules for some stupid reason -- which was a presentation about art-as-magic and the history of fanfic and the Alan Moore/Grant Morrison feud over Watchmen and just randomly poking into crazy corners of creativity and the presenter killed it. I wouldn't have known to go if I hadn't bought a Tarot deck from him and then gone back to talk to him about the readings I did and heard him mention the panel while we were chatting.
Anyway, good to see you again!
3897168 Stealth panel?! Damn it!
Fucking BABSCon, man. I like having a con so near my house, but they do test my patience. Like fifteen panels of questionable worth, like "How to Flirt" on the official schedule, one missing at least one that's directly pony-related that spans out into the larger world of art. Of course we should leave that one off!

Honestly, I'm not sure what was going on with Babscon's events division this year. Panel choices were questionable, the posted schedule had big errors (as noted, I literally only found out about the panel mentioned above because I talked to the presenter), and not a single person seemed to know the musician order of the Saturday Neighhem concert, which was like *the* big headline event. It was kind of a clusterbuck.
It wasn't nearly that disorganized in previous years.
