A Working Historical Chronology for MLP: FIM (General, Combined, Apr 2016 Revision)

Introduction

Yet another revamp of my Working Chronology. The Working Chronology is subject to change as new ideas occur to me, new fanons get folded in, and the canon itself changes in ways which require placement in time of newly-mentioned events. The April 2016 Revision includes events from Season 5 and the very begining of Season 6, also events mentioned in some of my other stories, published or awaitig publication, and will be further revised in the ensuing days and weeks.

Chronological Systems

Numerous year-reckonings are used here, so I provide this explanation to avoid confusion.

For periods of such remote prehistory that any zero year in Equestrian history doesn't matter much, I use "MYA" for "Million Years Ago" and "KYA" for "Thousand (Kilo) Years Ago." I also sometimes reference "BP" for "Before Present," with the "Present" being Y.O.H. 1500, the year of Luna's Return, for reference purposes.

Y.O.M. is "Year of Megan," the years since The Advent of The Megan. B.T.H. is "Before the Harmony, dating from the Defeat of Discord. Y.O.H. is "Year of Harmony," dating from the defeat of Discord. There are numerous other chronologies in use, the most common being to date from the Banishment of Luna. Y.O.H. has the distinct advantage of being the most acceptable to the Two Royal Pony Sisters, who would rather date events from their signal mutual triumph than from the other obvious reference point -- The Banishment of Luna, which the most emotionally painful event of both their lives in their current incarnations. The Return of Luna occurs in BoL 1000, or YOH 1500.

Basically, The Megan arrived 2024 years before the Cataclysm, so the Cataclysm occurs in the Y.O.M. 2024. After the Cataclysm, Ponies slowly abandoned the Megan year-count, because they felt that the Universe had betrayed and abandoned them. The Meganist system was continued by some Pony groups, especially the group of scholars and scientists who would found the Crystal City.

Another important system was started by the citizens of the Crystal City. This was A.U.C. (Anno Urbis Conditae or "The Year of the Founded City"), which dated from the foundation of Lake Town in 447 After The Cataclysm (2029 Before The Harmony). The A.U.C. dating system was most prominently used by the Crystal Empire, where it gradually took over from the old Year of Megan and the newer After The Cataclysm system. The main problem with it today is the 1014-year stasis between A.U.C. 2480 and A.U.C. 3494, during which the Crystal City was in a time-space limbo. In the A.U.C. system, the Return of Luna occurred in A.U.C. 3491.

The next most common system used in the period covered was "A.T.C." (After The Cataclysm) which was used mostly in the 1,438 years after the Cataclysm ended the Age of Wonders and before Discord's millennium of tyranny: the Cataclysm occurred in the year 2438 B.T.H. So the Return of Luna occurred in Y.O.M. 5962, for those few Ponies still dating from The Megan's Advent, or 3938 A.T.C.

For some 1000 years, starting in 1438 A.T.C (AUC 991). and ending in 2438 A.T.C. (AUC 1991), Discord was the lazy tyrant of Equestria and (on and off) most of the rest of the world. This was called the "Age of Discord," and many Ponies dated by Y.O.D. (Years Of Discord). This system was thankfully abandoned after the defeat of Discord by Celestia and Luna.

There were still other systems, such as the Years of the Lawstone (Lith) and Years of the Heartspire (the Heartspire), but they were abandoned with the fall of those cities. The Pegasi of Derecho dated their years by the Crystal-Imperial AUC system. Many more systems are practiced around the world, though Equestria's Years of Harmony are gradually becoming dominant.

~ 66.043 MYA - The Draconid Killer smashes into the Earth, ending the reign of the great Archosaurs. The version of this event remembered by the Dragons is not that remembered by Luna, whose Cosmic Self witnessed this event. The Cenezoic Era, or "Age of Mammals," begins. During the Paleogene and Neogene epochs, the New Realms of the Serpent Folk (described by Robert E. Howard) are the dominant Powers on Earth.
55 MYA - Perissodactyla differentiate from the primitive Euungulata. From this Order derives all horses, rhinoceroses and tapirs. It is possible that a certain smiling schemer born to the Serpent Folk may have engineered their creation and dispersal across the Amareicas.
~ 2588 KYA - Fall of the Serpent Folk to a vicious civil war conducted with biological and other weapons of mass destruction, resulting in the race surviving only in isolated enclaves and often degenerate forms. The war causes the onset of the Pleistocene Glaciations. Various races succeed the Serpent Folk; in Hyperborea and North Amareica, their successors are the ursocanoid Voormis (see Clark Ashton Smith and Lin Carter) who develop a Neolithic civilization.
~ 1700 KYA - The Voormis of Hyperborea fission into two groups, one of which flees into North Amareica and becomes bestial, losing even agriculture; the other of which remains in Hyperborea, worships Zoth-Aqua and develops an advanced pre-industrial civilization.
~ 1550 KYA - Start of the Bremaretonian Interglacial Stage. The ice recedes, and Vormis civilization flourishes. The bestial Voormis of the hill forests and the civilized Voormis of the valleys and coast become truly distinct species, the beast-Voormis growing to giants of 6 to 9 feet tall, with huge feet; the civilized Voormis gradually dwindling in size until they average only 3-5 feet tall.
~ 1500 KYA - The Voormis of Hyperborea have attained the manufacture of good steel, the navigation of oceanic sailing ships, and the use of primitive firearms.
~ 1400 KYA - From among the Voormis of Hyperborea emerges the advanced and atheistic civilization of the G'marr (as we learn from Eissnos}, who develop steam engines, complex machinery, and sustained programs of selective breeding. They become known as the "Great G'marr." So rapidly that paleontology cannot date their progress, the Great G'marr attain prodigious skill with biomancy and technomancy, climbing to levels not attained by the Ponies even of the Age of Wonders. They sculpt servitor races from existing Earthlife, Uplifting the Proto-Eldren from ape stock and the Proto-Ponies from equid stock, among their many other achievements.
The Proto-Ponies are fully-sapient but have no special abilities, save an ability to love one another that is a foretaste of the Harmony. Some serve the Great G'marr; others love freedom more and become feral, roaming the primal plains of the Amareicas in herds, outcompeting the non-sapient native horses.
The Great G'marr become decadent and hedonistic. They modify both themselves and the Proto-Ponies, both to become physically-tougher and to naturally-manifest a very wide variety of coat colors. For half a hundred millennia they rule the northern Amareicas and part of Neighropa, but they are slowly and inexorably slipping into the Dreaming. The Proto-Ponies do not challenge them for dominion, but their Proto-Eldren servants increasingly regard their masters with covetous and envious eyes. As the Proto-Eldren gain greater and greater intelligence and will, they desire their own dominion.
~ 1350 KYA - Rebellion of the Proto-Eldren. The Great G'marr are forced to flee Hyperborea, sailing overseas to their colonies in Gumbria (North Amareica). The Proto-Eldren conquer but are unable to comprehend the technology of the Great G'marr. They found new civilizations, maintaining a High Medieval Technology, in what will be remembered to history as Hyperborea. Eventually, some of the Proto-Eldren are reconciled with the Great G'marr, and learn some of their magics (as chronicled in Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears). The last of the Great G'marr depart into the Dreaming, and the remnant of G'marr who stay on the Earth decline into the race known to some Eldren as the Nhadragh, sometimes retaining a certain hostility to the Eldren (as imperfectly told in Michael Moorcock's The Chronicles of Corum).
~ 1340 KYA - Height of the Old Hyperborean civilization. Hyperborean ships spread the culture of the Proto-Eldren all over the world, as the G'marr had done before them. Many of the Proto-Ponies serve the Hyperboreans as steeds, being greatly prized for their high intelligence and compassion; and thus are also spread worldwide.
~ 1300 KYA - Coming of the Pre-Pasturonian Glaciation. Hyperborean civilization, already decadent and past its best days, falls, but the Proto-Eldren have become the ruling species all over the world, save where the Draconids hold dominion.
~ 825 KYA - New Eldren civilizations rise worldwide.
~810 KYA - The Eldren civilizations begin slowly industrializing, burning wood and coal and putting out greenhouse gasses.
~ 800 KYA - The Pre-Pasturonian Glaciation ends due to eldrenogenic global warming, and the Pasturonian Interglacial begins. In the new, warm climate the Eldren rise to new heights of science and technology. Their civilization becomes global.
~ 680 KYA - The Eldren rise to great heights, rediscovering some of the lost biomantic arts of the Great G'marr. They Uplift many other Ungulate genera to full sapience. including the Bovids, Cervids, Ovids and the other Equids, borrowing genetic information from the Proto-Ponies. They also begin improving their own stock and creating variant Eldren forms.
~ 676 KYA - The Eldren fight a global war with sunfire weapons, inducing the Menaponian Glaciation and ending the Pasturonian global civilization. The survivors are often of their variant types, and numerous Eldren species emerge.
~150 KYA - The Eldren begin to rise again, slowly developing an industrial civilization.
~130 KYA - Eldrenogenic global warming results in the end of the Menaponian Glaciation. The Eldren develop earthfire and sunfire power systems, and all manners of magics including biomancy. The age of the High Eldren begins.
~120 KYA - Around this time the High Eldren begin developing truly advanced biomantic technologies, combining this with enchantments to craft the Five Kinds out of the Proto-Ponies. The Five Kinds -- the Earth Ponies, Pegasus Ponies, Unicorn Ponies, Sea Ponies and Flutter Ponies -- will survive to the present day (though often much-changed, especially in the case of the Sea Ponies and Flutter Ponies). The High Eldren also augment themselves into many specialized Kinds.
~110 KYA - Fall of the High Eldren in their Final War, and with their fall the eradication of wild hominoid stocks including Homo sapiens sapiens. Djinni Winter triggers a Glaciation. Most of the High Eldren are annihilated; and most of the survivors emigrate to other worlds and dimensions. A small group of sorceror-scientists remain, determined to heal the damage to the world. Among them is one who becomes known as The Moochick.
The dominant races on Earth are mostly ungulate-descended, including some chimeric types which have been merged with anthropoid stock. These include the Bovids, Camelids, Cervids, Equids (including Ponies), Centaurs, Minotaurs and Satyrs. There are also realms of degenerate Eldren of many varieties. Because the Ponies later wrote the histories, this era is known as the "Paleo-Pony Age," though during this period the Ponies are browsers, gatherers and grazers; not yet a civilized species.
~7500 B.T.M., ~13,500 BP - The Aurochs found Cattle Hill, one of the first post-Eldren towns to exist anywhere on the Earth, in central southern Aurochtolia, or Neighsia Minor.
~7000 B.T.M, ~ 13,000 BP - Ungulates develop agriculture. Start of the Age of Settlement.
~5000 B.T.M. ~ 11,000 BP - According to the Celestial Dragons, this marks the foundation of their Empire (modern Chi-Neigh).
~4500 B.T.M., ~10,500 BP - Cattle Hill is at its height, with a population in the thousands.
~4000 B.T.M., ~ 10,000 BP - Celestia and Discord come to the Earth, and begin to play strange games with the world and its inhabitants. End of the Age of Settlement; start of the Age of Creation.
The Celestial Dragons, deeply mistrusting these two Cosmic invaders, form the Great Wall of Chi-Neigh, a mystical barrier which defends the Middle Kingdom.
Foundation of The City of the Moon, its name and cult inspired by some of Celestia's casual musings about her Sister, originally by the Gazelles of Southwestern Neighsia. At first, its inhabitants know not the use of agriculture.
~3600 B.T.M., ~9600 BP - Agriculture spreads to The City of the Moon, along with traders from the Onagers, who name the city "Jennicho."
~3400 B.T.M., ~9400 BP - Jennicho raises high walls and prospers, with a population of 2 to 3 thousand Gazelles.
~2750 B.T.M., ~8750 BP - Honey Tongue, the Sun Mare and the Twister takes place.
~2700 B.T.M., ~ 8700 BP - Final fall of Cattle Hill.
~2600 B.T.M., ~8600 BP - The Onager city of Jennicho reaches a cultural height, with a population in the high thousands.
~2000 B.T.M., ~ 8000 BP - Celestia and Discord discarnate and depart the Earth, though their other incarnations sometimes visit by time travel. End of the Age of Creation, start of the Age of High Antiquity.
~1000 B.T.M., ~7000 BP - Hordes of barbarians and predatory monsters overwhelm many of the civilizations of High Antiquity. Start of the High Ancient Dark Ages. Only those civilizations which build high walls and strong armies, or are extremely good at hiding themselves, can avoid going under. One of these is Dream Valley, in eastern North Amareica.
~ 800 B.T.M., ~ 6800 BP - By this time Jennicho has become almost purely an Onager city, with only a few old Gazelle clans surviving as a priestly caste, and its inhabitants have become quite martial in culture.
~750 B.T.M., 6750 BP - City-states, armed with iron weapons, emerge to beat back the barbarians and slay the monsters. The Classical Age ensues, as literature, philosophy and a high culture develop. This is the time that Mare Memory later remembers as a Golden Age of Ponykind.
~250 B.T.M., 6250 BP - The monstrous races unite into alliances under the command of warlords. Chief among these is the half-Ophidian Viprallan Centaur, Tirek the Annihilator, who makes pacts with dark forces from Beyond to become Tirek the Undying, literally unkillable because even if physically-destroyed he will in time re-form and resurrect. Under the onslaught of these monstrous forces, Ungulate civilizations one after another begin to go down. End of the Classical Age, start of the Time of Extermination.
~240 B.T.M., 6240 BP - Jennicho is overrun by Tirek the Annihilator, its walls toppled by horrible sonic spells. A few of its scholar-priests manage to escape across the sea to Dream Valley, bearing rare knowledge of the ancient world, which will later fall into the hands of Mare Memory and through her Wind Whistler.
~200 B.T.M., 6200 BP - Dream Valley is first beset by barbaric hordes. The stallion-herds become nomads, the Big Brother Herds, who are able to be with their mares, the Little Sister Herds, less and less. Eventually they will meet but for one month a year, with eleven months of heart-breaking mutual fear, as the price of survival.
~100 B.T.M., 6100 BP - Birth of Mare Memory, the penultimate scholar of the Time of Extermination, a brilliant warrior-sage, who is destined to become the teacher of the greatest true Pony warrior-sage in the history of Ponykind.
Y.O.M. 1, or 6000 BP - Tirek the Annihilator launches his final attack on Dream Valley. At their hour of greatest need Firefly travels beyond Bifrost and brings The Megan, a young mare of an unknown Kind, who is a supremely brave and cunning warrior. The Moochick gives the Ponies of Dream Valley the Rainbow of Light, with which The Megan, Firefly, Wind Whistler and the other Ponies defeat first Tirek and then many other foes. When the Smooze destroys Dream Castle, The Moochick provides them with the magic steading of Paradise Estate, protected by a Veil which screens its inhabitants from the notice of those with hostile intent. The Megan comes and goes, seemingly never-aging, over the next two dozen years. This is the Time of Salvation, chronicled in the original My Little Pony movies and TV seasons.
~Y.O.M. 25 or ~5975 BP - The Megan comes no more among Ponykind. By this time the Ponies of Dream Valley lead a great coalition of Ponykind that begins to reconquer the Earth from the monstrous races. The Earth Ponies breed prolifically and begin to vastly outnumber the other Four Kinds. The Ponies of Paradise Estate notice that they are unaging, a side-effect of the power of the Rainbow of Harmony. Start of the Time of Reclamation.
~Y.O.M. 500 or ~5500 BP - The monstrous foes have been driven to exile or extermination. The Earth Ponies lose the Light of Harmony, and become aggressive toward the other Kinds and toward each other. The Ponies of Paradise Estate, now the Undying, legendary heroines of Ponykind, become alarmed and Veil their home from most Ponykind. This is the Age of Darkness, when The Megan and the Undying are worshipped as goddesses, but the truth of their message forgotten by an increasingly-cruel and intolerant civilization. But some of the Ponies of the Estate retain faith in the inherent good of Ponykind, and the Undying work in secret to enlighten this dark time, mitigating its cruelties and encouraging harmony and knowledge.
~Y.OM. 925 - Birth of Little-Woolly to Countess Sunmare, the ruler of the Golden Isle (modern Manehattan).
Y.O.M. 955 - Birth of Prince Eight Hawker II to King Eight Hawker I of Germaney.
Y.O.M. 946 - Bright Spear is born to the gens d'armes of a village in central Prance.
Y.O.M. 962 - King Eight Hawker of Germaney is crowned Emperor of the Western Roamins.
Y.O.M. 963 - Bright Spear (17) enters the monastery of Goldlake in central Prance.
Y.O.M. 967 - Bright Spear (21) is befriended by Count Little-Woolly II (42) of the Golden Isle (modern Manehattan) and taken across the Stormy Sea to study in Conquest (near modern Morgan).
Y.O.M. 968 - Bright Spear (22) and Count Little-Woolly II (43) travel to Three Rivers (near modern Manechester) to study at St. Megan's of Three Rivers and search the western woods for certain artifacts. They are aided by a mysterious martial nun, Sister Mare Diana of St. Megan's of the Free Forest (who is actually Wind Whistler of Paradise Estate). Sister Mare Diana attaches herself to the Count's retinue and tutors Bright Spear in astronomy, logic and mathematics.
Y.O.M. 969 - Count Little-Woolly II (44), Bright Spear (23), and Sister Mare Diana travel across the Stormy Sea to Roam in Istallia. They are attacked by pirates -- Sister Mare Diana beats them off with a display of incredible fighting prowess. They are betrayed by their ship's captain, and Sister Mare Diana outwits him with ease. Finally, they are nearly sunk by a supernal storm -- and they spy a winged equine figure, who somehow redirects the weather to save their ship.
They arrive in Roam. Count Little-Woolly introduces Bright Spear to Grandfather Jack XIII and Emperor Eight Hawker I. Bright Spear is hired as tutor to the Emperor's son, Prince Eight Hawker (14) . Count Little-Woolly returns to the Golden Isle, and Sister Mare Diana sails home on the same ship, though she will occasionally return in future to visit Bright Spear.
Y.O.M. 973 - Death of Emperor Eight Hawker I. His son, now aged 18, ascends the Imperial throne as Eight Hawker II. The new Emperor appoints his tutor and friend Bright Spear the Abbott of Cowtown. Sister Mare Diana is a frequent guest at Bright Spear's Abbey.
Y.O.M. 983 - Death of Emperor Eight Hawker II. The Germane Empire is managed by a regency for his son Eight Hawker III (age 3). Bright Spear (37) is an Imperial Adviser and tutor to the young Emperor.
Y.O.M. 996 - Emperor Eight Hawker III (age 16) marches to war against the Boiian Pretender, taking Abbott Bright Spear with him as an adviser.
Y.O.M. 999 - Bright Spear is elected Grandfather of the Western Church of the Megan. He takes the grandpaternal name Bushwoolly II, in honor of his original patron.
~Y.O.M. 1000 or ~5000 BP - Philosophy and learning reappear amongst the Earth Ponies of Neighropa. Start of the Age of Rebirth. By this time, however, the last Monsters are gone and even the other four Kinds have hidden so well from the Earth Ponies that they have passed into myth and legend.
Y.O.M. 1002 - Emperor Eight Hawker III dies of fever at City Castle in Istallia.
Y.O.M. 1003 - Bright Spear, Grandfather Bushwoolly II is ambushed, captured, tortured and maimed by mercenaries hired by his foes. Sister Mare Diana comes to the rescue, driving back the company of mercenaries, but too late. Bright Spear, horribly maimed, dies in her forelegs. The furious Undying Pegasus warrior-sage shucks her disguise and descends upon the mercenaries, slaying them all before flying away to the west. never to be seen among the mortal Ponies of Istallia in that generation.
~Y.O.M. 1500 or ~4500 BP - No longer merely copying the copies of the books brought from Human-Earth by the Megan, the Earth Ponies develop the scientific method and begin to build a global high-technology civilization. This is the start of the Age of Wonders, in which Earth Ponies rise to and eventually surpass the heights of the culture from which came The Megan herself.
Y.O.M. 1916 - Birth of Rich Greentree.
Y.O.M. 1918 - Birth of Sweetie Finemare.
Y.O.M. 1936 - Sweetie Finemare and Rich Greentree meet, love and marry. Sweetie's lax experimental safety procedures inadvertently give Rich Greentree cancer due to radiation exposure. Sweetie is recruited for the top-secret Manehattan Project, aimed at developing an earthfire bomb.
Y.O.M.1937 - Birth of Dash Firehooves.
Y.O.M. 1938, B.T.H. 2562 - The Ponies of the United States of Amareica detonate their first earthfire bomb. They inadvertently rip open a hole in spacetime through which the spirits of Celestia, Luna and Discord enter our reality. Celestia and Luna fasten upon two zygotes conceived by Dr. Sweetie Finemare and her husband Rich Greentree. Discord possesses Dr. Schwarzwald Fuchs. The Manehattan Project test intimidates Lippanzer and Neigh-pon into abandoning their warlike designs, and a global war is thereby averted. However, a Cold War begins between the United States of Amareica and the tyrannical realm of the United Republics of the Read Speakers (URRS). (Trinity).
Birth of Dusk Skyshine.
Y.O.M. 1939 - Birth of Sundreamer and Moondreamer to Dr. Sweetie Finemare (Trinity).
Y.O.M. 1940 - Death of Rich Greentree of bone cancer, helped along to euthanasia by Dr. Sweetie Finemare, who never quite forgives herself for this necessary murder. She considers suicide, but decides to live for the sake of her infant children (Trinity).
Y.O.M. 1945 - Six-year old fillies Sundreamer and Moondreamer Finemare meet seven-year-old Dusk Skyshine, and immediately become fast friends with the colt.
Y.O.M. 1950-1961 - The Nork War, in which the United States of Amareica prevents the Norks and their Chi-Neighse allies from conquering Northeast Neighsia. (The medical side of this was chronicled in a very strange science-fantasy TV show in which the Ponies -- on both sides -- were replaced by evolved ape-things).
Y.O.M. 1953 - Moondreamer and Dusk Skyshine become lovers. Dusk becomes a cadet in the US Naval Air Force Academy. There he meets Dash Firehooves.
Y.O.M. 1954 - Dusk is called to war, and he marries Moondreamer before going off to fight in the Nork War.
Y.O.M. 1955 - Dusk Skyshine becomes a war ace. He is rapidly promoted,
Y.O.M. 1956 - Dusk Skyshine and Dash Firehooves lead the crucial attack on the Bridges at To-Ki-Rin that blunts the final Nork offensive and denies the Norks victory in the war. Dusk is slightly and Dash badly wounded in action. ("Thirty Seconds Over To-Ki-Rin").
Y.O.M. 1961 - Foundation of the terrorist organization VIPRA, secretly backed by the Viprallans under the reborn Tirek the Undying, and led by a noble Viprallan known only as "VIPRA Commander."
Y.O.M. 1962 - VIPRA agents nearly spark a nuclear war between Amareica and the Red-Speakers over Isla Grande in the Mareibbean Sea.
Y.O.M. 1963 - VIPRA agents assassinate the Amareican President, hoping to spark anarchy and civil war. The uprisings are averted by prompt action on the part of the Amareican secret organization, CONTROL, but the Hexagon realizes the necessity of developing a military organization with which to combat VIPRA-backed international terrorism.
Y.O.M. 1964 - The Amareicans found a Special Forces combined services unit, G. I. Joe, to combat the growing menace of VIPRA.
Y.O.M. 1964-1969 - The Amareican Armed Forces, spearheaded by the Joes, defeat the evil machinations of the tyrannical Enlightened One, an evil mage who attempts to bring all Nanyue under his dark dominion by a ruthless campaign of conquest.
Y.O.M. 1968 - The Joe Team shatters the Enlightened One's treacherous New Year's Offensive and sends his armies stumbling back in ruins.
Y.O.M. 1969 - Led by Dash Firehooves, G. I. Joe forces smash their way into the Enlightened One's secret underground bunker, where he is almost ready to raise Zhar and an army of Tcho-Whoa warriors to attack Amareica. They defeat him in an epic battle, which ends when the Enlightened One falls into the tentacles of his own monster, screaming "No! This cannot be! I cannot be defeat ... (CRUNCH!)" Yeah, I know --but this is how the Vietnam War should have ended ...
Dusk Skyshine leads the first crewed mission to the Moon. He becomes the first Pony to fly a Pony-built spaceship to and walk upon the surface of another world. Without his knowledge, he carries with him the psychic Seed of Harmony that -- over many millennia -- becomes the Lunar Tree of Harmony ("A Meeting by Moonlight").
~Y.O.M. 1978-1980 - Around this time are born Starlight and her friends Sweetheart, Melody Bright Eyes, Patch, Clover and Bon Bon,, who are sadly destined to remake the world.
Y.O.M. 1986: January 28th - VIPRA sabotages Dusk Skyshine's rocketplane, leading to its destruction 28 seconds after launch. This is the end of the Amareican space program.

B.T.H. 1436 (A.T.C. 1040) (AUC 593) - A regiment of Pegasi mercenaries and their dependents become foederate to the Crystal Empire and receive the right to provision from the lands around the (ground) town of Derecho. B.T.H. 1391 (A.T.C. 1047, AUC 600) - The Three Tribes begin their general migration southward after it becomes apparent that their old lands are doomed to become uninhabitable owing to the ice. The Imperator of the Crystal Empire gives them permission to pass through Imperial lands on the way south, and their passage is for the most part peaceful.
B.T.H. 1389 (A.T.C. 1049, AUC 602) - Some Earth Ponies migrate southward around the Empire and settle on the shores of the Gulf River, founding the town of Lith around a stony height which they fortify. This is the nucleus of what will one day become a mighty city. (Lost Cities by Cold in Gardez)
B.T.H. 1381 - (A.T.C. 1057, AUC 610) By this point the Three Tribes have mostly vacated their original lands and found new homes in the south. The vast majority of those who fail to do so die. Overall, about half of the population of the Three Tribes have perished in these events (S2E13 "Hearth's Warming Eve").
B.T.H. 1375 (A.T.C. 1063, AUC 616) - A band of Unicorn nobles and their Earth Pony retainers and Pegasus guards traveling southwestward found a settlement and build a small towered keep on the site that would one day become the Heartspire (Lost Cities by Cold in Gardez).
B.TH. 1338 (A.T.C 1100, AUC 653)- The White Princess, Bianca Snowheart, younger sister of the Unicornian Queen, migrates to the Southwest with her followers, who are mostly Unicorns and Earth Ponies. (Lost Cities by Cold in Gardez).
B.T.H. 1328 (A.T.C. 1110, AUC 663) -The White Princess and her followers join and rule an existing Unicorn settlement and begin the construction of the great tower which will be known as the Heartspire; Bianca becomes the first White Queen of the Heartspire (Lost Cities by Cold in Gardez).
B.T.H. 1298 (A.T.C. 1140, AUC 693) - The Earth Ponies of the Lithic Hills unearth the Lawstone, and form a cult around it.
B.T.H. 1281 (A.T.C. 1157, AUC 710) - The Earth Pony settlements around the Lithic Hills politically-consolidate to found Lith, first great city of the Earth Pony Tribe in their new lands on the Gulf River in the southeast of modern Equestria, ruled by the Priestess-Queen of the Lawstone. B.T.H. 1278 -(A.T.C. 1154, AUC 713) The Pegasi of the sky-fortress of Derecho discover the Laputa Stone and install it in their sky fortress of Derecho. With the power of the Laputa Stone, the Pegasi of Derecho gradually improve their fortress until it is impervious to assault by the military science of its day.
B.T.H. 1019 (A.T.C. 1413, AUC 972) - Birth of Discord in his current incarnation on Paradise Estate, to Shady.
B.T.H. 1018 (A.T.C. 1414, AUC 973) - Birth of Celestia and Luna in their current incarnations on Paradise Estate, to Mimic. Celestia, Luna and Discord are at first all friends. (Pony POV Season Four: Generation Transitions and Origins)
B.T.H. 1000 (A.T.C. 1438, AUC 991)- Discord Awakens to his true Cosmic identity, destroys Paradise Estate and most of its immortal inhabitants. Celestia and Luna flee to Lith. Start of the Age of Discord.
Surprise, formerly of Paradise Estate, is banished by Discord with the geas "Go, farm rocks." She finds herself on the farm of Petros Pita, a Crystal-Imperial farmer with a very marginal steading on the southern fringe of what is then Crystal-Imperial territory. She is insane, and unable to say anything other than "I must farm rocks." Petros Pita is a kind stallion who befriends the sanity-blasted Peagsus, and lets her stay on his steading in return for her performing simple chores for him.
B.T.H. 1000-0 - Age of Discord Discord (lazily) dominates the world. Among the places Discord cannot dominate are the Crystal City, which is protected by the Crystal Heart; Derecho, which is too mobile and heavily armed for him to easily attack; the Heartspire, which is guarded by powerful and subtle unicorn magics; and Lith, which is protected by the powerfully-lawful rituals of the Earth Ponies. All these cultures are however severely blighted by the requirement to constantly defend themselves against the minions of Discord, and some begin to turn toward darkness. Celestia and Luna employ them as bases of operation to undermine Discord's rule and seek a means of permanently overthrowing the lethargic tyrant-god. The records of the Age of Discord are mostly lost owing to the depredations of Chaos. (Pony POV Season Four: Generation Transitions and Origins and (Lost Cities by Cold in Gardez).
B.T.H. 999 (A.T.C. 1439, AUC 992) - Chaos grips the world as Discord destroys regular climatic patterns. The cultures which resist Discord suffer more, as he does not aid them. The Crystal Empire and Lithic Order suffer the loss of border provinces to Discordian rebellions.
B.T.H. 998 (A.T.C. 1440, AUC 993) - Discord allies with the Minotaurs.
B.T.H. 996 (A.T.C. 1442, AUC 995) - Major Discordian assault on the Crystal Empire. In all this chaos, Discord is careful that his forces spare the Pita Farm where lives Surprise, formerly of Paradise Estate.S
B.T.H. 993 (A.T.C. 1445, AUC 998) - Surprise succeeds in farming rocks, using the ley lines to refine ores. She regains the power of speech and confesses her love to Petros Pita. The two are wed, becoming the ancestors of both Rocks and Pies of Equestria.
B.T.H. 800- Around this time Luna is Monasdrommir to the barbarians of the far northeast, across the Stormy Sea. She leads them west to Hyperborea, from which they fight the piratical minions of Discord who seek to destroy the coastal cities of the Crystal Empire (Corrupution At Nightfall).
B.T.H. 4- Discord makes a serious attack on Lith. In attempting to defend themselves, the ponies of Lith unleash powerful forces of Law which petrify the entire population and nearly petrify Discord as well. Celestia and Luna realize Discord's weakness.
0 Y.O.H (A.T.C. 2438, AUC 1991) - Celestia and Luna find the Elements of Harmony and turn Discord to stone, ending the Age of Discord and commencing the Age of Harmony. Celestia and Luna declare themselves the Ruling Princesses of Equestria, but at first their authority is largely illusory, as noble families dominate the land. Celestia and Luna begin recruiting their Champions and Loyal Band respectively to defend the lands they have liberated.
1st Century Y.O.H. - The Century of Foundation: Celestia and Luna establish their power base in the Forest Everfree and begin organizing the Realm of Equestria.
With Discord gone, the Griffons of Western Draconia overrun Neighropa, renaming it Taura.
2 Y.O.H. - Tirek the Undying and his brother Scorpan journey to Equestria, to take advantage of the opportunity presented by Discord's fall.

20's Y.O.H. - Celestia and Luna establish the Day and Night Guards from their cadres of the Champions and Loyal Band.
86 Y.O.H. - Celestia decrees the automatic abolition of chattel slavery in any place conquered by Royal arms..
95 Y.O.H. - Battle of Trottingham: Princess Luna repels a Griffon invasion at the price of the lives of many of her beloved Night Guard. First serious damage to Luna's sanity.
97 Y.O.H. - Luna begins recruiting the proto-Nocturnae from unwanted orphans, establishing a colony at Hollow Shades.
2nd Century Y.O.H. - The Century of Questing: The situation in Equestria stablized by the observation on the part of many would-be invaders that the last lot of invaders had been roughly handled, Celestia and Luna traveled worldwide to stop problems before they got big enough to reach Equestria.
188 Y.O.H. - Celestia and Luna lead a force comprised primarily of Nocturnae to defeat a Phantom Invasion attempting to break through at Hollow Shades.
3rd Century Y.O.H. - The Century of Establishment: With the power of the Sisters demonstrated to Equestria and foreign threats put down, Celestia embarked on serious long-term establishment of the customs and laws of her Realm.
231 Y.O.H. - Celestia and Luna unite their powers to overthrow the White Queen of the Heartspire, who has become corrupted into evil by her own power. The top of the Heartspire is wrecked and its surviving inhabitants mostly flee, demoralized by the fall of their regime (Lost Cities by Cold in Gardez). Some join the growing realm of Equestria, others join other realms or found their own.
4th Century Y.O.H. - The Century of Supremacy - In this period, Celestia and Luna ruled essentially unchallenged; they had established themselves as the senior members of all the other Princely Houses in Equestria and controlled with increasing firmness of authority a Realm encompassing what is now Central and Central Eastern Equestria, excluding the Crystal Empire (which then controlled Neigh Yoke, Morgan, Mane and Kon-Neighda). Western Equestria was as yet a wild land ruled by Speaker-Pony city-states and tribes of Buffalo, Deer and Griffon.
Equestrian culture and technology was rising toward that of the Early Age of Wonders, and Celestia and Luna began to hope that within half a millennium more they could restore the global civilization known to Sundreamer and Moondreamer. But there were problems: the Sisters were themselves increasingly starting to quarrel, and on more and more serious issues. As yet, though, these quarrels were far short of ones severe enough to shatter their lifetime friendship. However, in the next century, this friendship would be tested -- and fail.
386 Y.O.H. - King Gar the Great, ruler of Prance, western Germaney and northern Istallia, establishes the Griffon Empire.
398 Y.O.H. - Death of Emperor Gar the Great.
5th Century Y.O.H. - The "Century of Disaster." In North Amareica, the Crystal Empire falls into Darkness and disappears. In Taura, the Griffon Empire loses control of Prance and is only able to hold on to Northern Istallia with difficulty. At the end of the century, Princess Luna goes mad, becomes Nightmare Moon and must be banished by her sister, after their battle destroys much of the Everfree City.

Death of Grayneo, father of Grey Hoof, at age 42 by mischance while migrating from Pie Town to Sunny Town. Death of Peacelandia ("Peasy") Hoof (75), the maternal great-grandmother of Grey Hof.
Starshine (15), consoling Grey Hoof (14) for his father's death, grows closer to him. Three Leaf (12) watches them jealously. But Starshine regards Grey Hoof as too young for her and rejects his courtship. Stung, Grey Hoof turns to Three Leaf, who that year has her first cycles and begins actively seducing him.
June 21st, 476 Y.O.H. - The Summer Sun Celebration. Formal ceremony of foundation for Sunny Town.
477 Y.O.H. - Seeking to secure Grey Hoof (15), Three Leaf (13) takes him as her first lover. However, Grey Hoof is never truly in love with Three Leaf. When she becomes pregnant with his child, Grey Hoof's grandmother Pretty Hoof (59) and his mother Dainty Hoof (37) both oppose the match, as Three Leaf has a (partially-undeserved) bad reputation as both a wild child and flirt. Grey Hoof yields to his family's pressure and does not offer marriage to Three Leaf.

486 Y.O.H. - Starshine, her health weakened by the combined effects of childbirth and plague, dies at only age 25. Her husband Grey Hoof is grief-stricken, and his sanity severely slips. He is greatly consoled by his remaining wife Mitta Gift, and their sweet little filly Ruby.
488 Y.O.H. - King Sombra corrupts Princess Luna, badly damaging her sanity.
489 Y.O.H. - Celestia and Luna unite their power against King Sombra, defeating and discorporating him. However, Sombra's spell takes the Crystal City into extradimensional stasis, and Sombra himself is not truly dead, but only sleeping outside spacetime, ready to return when the stars come right. Luna begins to sink into manic-depression, alternating between rage and sorrow.
490 Y.O.H. - A Little Ice Age begins as the Windigos and Frost Giants, now unchecked by the Crystal Heart, begin to slowly expand the Ice Waste southward.
496 Y.O.H. - Death of Graunia, first cousin of Grey Hoof, at age 56; and her daughter Baynia, age 25, in Sunny Town of a plague brought in from the outside.
In one of her last acts of sanity, Luna befriends Ruby Gift (11), a young filly living in Sunny Town, who may be Pathfinder reborn. She hopes through decades of friendship with a new kindred spirit to heal her deep emotional and psychological wounds
498 Y.O.H. - Death of Dainty Hoof, aged 58, the mother of Grey Hoof, felled by a plague from the outside, in Sunny Town.
500 Y.O.H. - Luna's young friend Ruby is murdered by her kin in Sunny Town. Luna in her fury temporarily enters the Nightmare state, destroys the town, slaughters all the inhabitants and condemns them to eternal undeath. When she emerges, her own horror at what she has done shatters the remnants of her sanity.
Luna goes utterly mad, summons the Shadow to possess her and becomes Nightmare Moon. The resultant battle with her sister Celestia ruins the Castle of the Two Royal Pony Sisters and devastates the city of Everfee. Celestia is forced to use the Elements of Harmony against Luna and banish her to the Moon. This effort breaks the Harmony -- Celestia loses control over the Elements and suffers significant damage to her own sanity in the process. However, unlike Luna, Celestia avoids corruption, and thus never herself enters the Nightmare State (though she comes close a few times over the next thousand years).
500-1000 Y.O.H. - Time of Consolidation - Ruling alone and without the Elements, Celestia must use mostly conventional means to defend peace and prosperity. Equestrian expansion slows but becomes more decisive.
500's Y.O.H.- Some of the survivors proclaim the Everfree Republic in the ruins of the City of Everfree. Due to deep depression, Celestia cannot bring herself to care enough to suppress this rebellion, and grants them the province as their own domain, moving with her loyalists to the new capital on Mount Avalon. Bahamut's Rest is renamed "Canterlot" and the government of the Realm re-established there.
533 Y.O.H. - Death of Snowdrop "Flakewright" Wind, Lady-Marshal of the North, of natural causes.

It also becomes obvious that this world's Sombra is still monstrously evil. Celestia is thrown into a deeper depression by this discovery. ("Forever and Again and Again" by Titanium Dragon).
1240's Y.O.H. - Equestrian expansion into the Northwest is almost reversed by the Amareican Griffon leader Guntram the Black (d. 1250). Celestia, severely depressed during this decade, exercises no effective leadership against the Griffons. The arrogant but miltiarily effective Pegasus Day Guard Captain Aquila (d. 1250) stages a temporarily successful coup in Canterlot, making himself War Leader, though he continues to claim loyalty to Celestia. Equestria avoids a Shogunate largely by Aquila's death in battle slaying Guntram.
1250 Y.O.H. - Upon the death of Guntram and Aquila, Celestia largely recovers her sanity and once again takes charge of the Realm, though during her mental absence Parliament has seized much power. Celestia confirms most of these new powers.

1500 Y.O.H. - The Return of Luna, but also Shadowfall over the world. In Taura this results in the start of the Great War between the Griffon Empire and most of the other Tauran states. Griffon Empire wins victories against Western Taurans and Ursids, but cannot defeat either foe. Twilight Sparkle leads Celestia's Champions to defeat Nightmare Moon and liberate Luna from the Night Shadow. Trixie Lulamoon defeats the Nightstallion of Manehattan and his Shadow Coven. Piercing Gaze prevents a riot from erupting in Baltimare, saving his Hippodrome. The adventuress Languid Grace becomes the evil femme fatale, Lady Lethe.

1505 Y.O.H. - Princess Twilight returns to the Humanoid world to defeat the Dazzlings. Twilight and her companions encounter and defeat the warlock Starlight Glimmer, but suffer post-traumatic stress from their ordeal ("Post-Traumatic"). Starlight Glimmer escapes and winds up empowered and infilitrated by Skloia, a Great Shadow.

Starlight Glimmer returns and attempts to change the past so as to prevent Rainbow Dash's first Sonic Raiboom, traveling back to YOH 1490, fighting a tempus fugue battle with Twilight Sparkle, spawning several alternate worldlines. Twilight Sparkle manages to reason Starlight Glimmer into surrendering. Starlight is remanded to the custody of Twilight as her student in Friendship.
1506 Y.O.H. - Birth of Princess Flurry Heart to Cadance and Shining Armor. Flurry Heart's powers surge out of control, shatterig the Crystal Heart and nearly destroying the Crystal City. With the aid of the research mage Sunburst, the Alicorns and Starlight Glimmer manage to repair the Crystal Heart and save the city.
1507 Y.O.H. - Pinkie Pie weds Cheese Sandwich. Pinkie Pie gives him a special blessing after their wedding night ("Her Special Gift").
1508 Y.O.H. - Ill Wind, aka "Doctor Atmosphere," commences construction of the Pegasus Device for Windane's "New Pegasus Mandate". Queen Chrysalis attacks the Evergloom Hive at the same time that the Elements intervene; Landscape Carrot and the survivors of Hive Evergloom escape to Equestria. Applejack rescues and marries Landscape Carrot.

1513 Y.O.H. - Start of the Great Changeling War (1513-1515). The High Queen, Nightmare Hunger, attacks Equestria, obtaining tactical surprise and driving to the foot of Mount Avalon. Sack of Ponyville and other places, siege of many and capture of some Gulf River cities. Loss of some other southern cities including Appleloosa and Dodge Junctions.
Birth of Rocky Road, possible 3rd child of Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich. Birth of Bell Pepper, possible daughter of Tomato Sandwich.
1514 Y.O.H. - Equestrian counterattack with new weapons of war including tanks, jet fighters and atomic bombs drives the Changelings back on the Wastelands. Equestrian amphibious landings relieve the sieges of the Gulf River cities, and Equestrian forces in the north and south squeeze the Changeling Swarms between them.
1515 Y.O.H. - Equestrian forces reduce High Queen Hunger's remaining Hives, finally cornering her at Hive Hunger-Prime. Fall of the High Queen Hunger, fall of Hive Hunger-Prime. End of the Great Changeling War (1513-1515).
1520 Y.O.H. - Birth of Berry Blast, possible 4th child of Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich.
1522 Y.O.H. - Birth of Cheescake Chase, possible 5th child of Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich.
1524 Y.O.H. - The Last Battle is fought between the Earth Defense Force and the Night Shadows in cislunar space. Celestia's Sacrifice restores the Solar System to its normal heliocentric mode, closes all the gates between the Solar System and the Shadow System, and destroys the Night Shadow System in the Shadowverse. Equestrians begin colonization of the Solar System. Princess Luna becomes the Monarch of Equestria.
1548 Y.O.H. - The Twelfth Equestriad is celebrated since the Return of Luna.

Not that it's not very fascinating.... but where's all the canon stuff on Princess Platinum and Commander Hurricane? They kinda created Equestria, in canon.
And you don't even mention Starswirl The Bearded at all, which is weird.

I know what I wrote is seriously incomplete. I do have them both exist in my world -- both Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash are descendants of Hurricane, and the line of Platinum is the Metallics about whom I speak a lot, the mortal royal dynasty of Equestria from whom the Bluebloods and several lesser-known Unicorn lineages descend. For that matter, the White Queens of the Heartspire, and the Light Clan, are descended from them.

Huh. You may have mentioned it in a previous chronology, but the fact that the G'marr are Gummi Bears still comes as a genuine shock. A fascinating one, but still a shock. (Meanwhile, the mention of Tsathoggua makes me wonder how the Dark Lord Sassasflash might fit into the SWSV, though that universe's changelings are wholly incompatible with yours, being Unseelie fae rather than mutated Flutter Ponies.)

Given all of the different civilizations that rose and fell on this world, I'm amazed that there were any mineable metals left by the time ponies got their chance, especially uranium.

I have to admit, I'm a bit disappointed that Pie Fighter didn't marry a truly immense pony with a golfing talent named Par Destroyer.

Lastly, what's with the "possible" qualifiers with the Sandwich brothers' kids?

I personally assume that the year change for ponies happens at the Summer Sun Celebration. I know you use 31 December for the year change but for Equestria the 21st of june seems more likely to me.
Of course in reality the ponies don't use the same names for the months as we do that's just a part of the translation convention like you mentioned in other places.

Though, there is one thing that's bugging me: You set Ash Tree's birth for both 1488 and 1492. You might want to remove one of those so that he's not older and younger than Olive at the same time.

I just love the idea of the Gummi Bears, in general, being the descendants of the Voormis. I'm pretty sure that this isn't something that Michael Eisner meant to be the case, but if you think about it, the Gummi Bears are sapient small bears, and that's pretty close to what the Voormis originally were in the Mythos. Their overall niceness is no bar to this: the Voormis were never a particularly malign race, and the Gummi Bears in-show aren't (as a race) as nice as is the small group of survivors under Gummi Glen.

The Gummi Bear / Pony connection makes a lot of sense as both have the weird color schemes. The really interesting thing I chose to do, I think, was subjecting the ancestors of the Ponies to two bouts of Uplifting by two different races separated by geological time: the G'marr and the Eldren. Both actually Clark Ashton Smith races, as the Voormis and Hyperboreans, and both in prehistoric Greenland.

Which is why I was so happy when the Show wrote Hyperborea into its world.

I have a mechanism for it, in the geomantic uplift and concentration of metals. Though for metals other than uranium (which is converted into other isotopes in its use as fuel) they could mine each other's trash heaps. Actually, for other power cycles (usually nuclear-thermal) you can mine nuclear waste dumps, but you'd definitely know you were doing it.

I'm glad you like it. Your family histories inspire me and that's why I fold them into my chronology. I like the idea of writing about ordinary (or only slightly extraordinary) Ponies in Equestria -- one thing you do well is showing how Ponies can be interesting, or even have interesting abilities, without being super-powered. Another thing I like is how you write family dynamics: you make your families and their members interesting and their interactions believable.

In fact, the core stories from which the Tommyverse grew were in the "young adults go away to college" drama subgenre, which is one in which bad writers very often write characters as completely atomistic with no real lives or identities away from college. This is because people in that situation often try to pretend they have no lives or backgrounds, because they're trying to forge new identities.

If the series lasts long enough, I may actually have to change some of my years regarding in paticular marriages, births etc. because some of those were definitely meant to be "after the end of the series."

According to a small bit of research I did on the matter, a hundred thousand year old civilization should be detectable to us. Why doesn’t that seem to be the case in our world if the point of divergence from it is 110,000 years ago? Or is "our" Earth in the context of the SWSV not literally the one I am typing this comment on, but rather one with an almost identical history with only minor differences otherwise, such as the My Little Pony franchise never having been launched and the existence of Megan Williams and/or Charlie Yu?
