    Author update!

I'm editing stuff! But also incredibly dried out of writing power atm. I'll get going again soon, but just bear with me for a bit. I'm publishing a chapter of XCOM today, then start on the daily writing (not publishing) again tomorrow morning. In the meantime, always remember:

    Remembering Koji Wada

Like every year, I like to remember the man/legend responsible for the theme songs of one of my favorite shows of all time on the anniversary of his death.

So if you were wondering about the timing for the latest Isekai chapters? There you go.

    Welp, here's a life update

These last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster. Good things have happened, and also bad ones. No wonder I could relate to both Furina and Navia in the latest Isekai chapter. Sometimes pretending things are fine is really exhausting, even if they do get better.

    Welp, another year older and...

...still writing ponies. (Among other things, granted.)

Update to the Isekai coming tonight! And some additional details and change of plans.

First, to everyone waiting patiently for the next Isekai chapter, I apologize for the delay. I know there are a lot of people that want to see another visit to Hell happen soon, and it will, I promise. However, due to some circumstances, I decided for a different pair of visitors to visit the bar this week.

In a few hours... · 5:05am Mar 26th, 2016

So in a few hours a new series starts...

...featuring:

That over designed mutant thing that is surely evil

Princess whathername... Uh... "Princess She Of The Enormous, Throbbing, Voluminous Wings That Put Her Father's Virility Into Question" or something and...

She who's face I want to punch every time I see this image. Especially that chin.

I think, honestly, this is the very first time I don't feel excited about this at all.

Even though I've come to tolerate Fanon Glimmer, she is still in my opinion the worst villain of the series—maybe second only to Tirek Cardboardperson—with the worst excuse to be a villain, the worst solution and the most excuses made up by fans who really wanted her to be some sort of Max Eisenhardt, only for her to end being exactly as I predicted from the beginning: a selfish, selfish pony. And let's not even get into those inane discussions on how she's "as powerful as Twilight." Let me just say, that just because I like fanon version, it doesn't mean I've changed my opinion of the canon.

And as for Princess Frog-Eyes-with-massive-wings, well. We've only had the initial reaction to hate/love her.

I'm just not excited about this at all. So much so that it took me by surprise that the new series came out today. And what little excitement I had with that died as quickly as coherency died in Superman v Batman (Review upcoming. Spoiler: it's not a nice review) as soon as I watched the trailer and saw her in it. I don't really give a damn about her, and at this point I thought my love for the series, the rest of the cast and time would override my intense dislike of her.

I guess there's a new series to prove me right or wrong so I'll watch the new episodes and figure out if MLP is still something I can watch.

Now I can't help but think of this.

Jokes aside, I will openly admit that I'm not excited for the S6 premiere as well. I'm fine with more Starlight due to the fact that I think she might have some potential if written carefully and properly, though how Flurry Heart plays a role and some of the scenes revealed like Celestia and Luna looking like they're going to lose to weather of all things does not have me hyped, especially if it turns out that Flurry Heart is the source of the conflict. That's just my opinion on the matter, and here's hoping I'm wrong with my worries. :twilightsheepish:

I don't like exhibiting negative opinions if I must be honest, though getting hyped for the upcoming episode has just been difficult for me. Well, I guess we'll find out how it all pans out once the episode airs, though my hopes are that it is at least enjoyable enough to where I don't have to let off some steam with a rant. But the remainder of Season 6 should be mostly decent if all goes well.

After the diatribe I threw up on Facebok, I'm looking forward to your thoughts on Bats Vee Supes.

Starlight Glimmer we could have done without, yeah. I'm more disappointed that she's coming back instead of someone like Trixie or heck, even Moondancer. Eh, we'll see.

The new foal I'm withholding judgement on. I knee-jerk hated Cadance for literally months until I stopped back, asked WHY it bothered me (fanon-inspired ideas on what alicorns were, in this case) and then took a deep breath and said "we'll give the writers a chance." That's what I'm doing here. This, once again, seems like Hasbro influence too which makes me step back. Applejack isn't driving a truck around yet, so we've gotten off kinda light in the grand scheme of things.

Meh. I'm just happy to have new episodes. More pony is always a good thing in my book.

Give it a few weeks. While I'm expecting plenty of Starlight Glimmer and Princess Flurry Heart tomorrow, my hope is the regular episodes will mostly be the same old pony with maybe the occasional nod to Starlight Glimmer being around.

I'm sure it'll be fine. And besides, the other episodes might look fun! Maybe!

Aw crud… And here, I've still only seen a handful of the latter half of season five…:facehoof:

It's not my fault! I'm not a Rarity fan and they opened up with three of them… :unsuresweetie:

*grumble* *grumble* It all went to hell after season four *grumble* *grumble*

Oh good, we can have somewhere to talk about BvS already. I have my share of complaints too. Let's see how they align.

RIP Lex Luthor's credibility.

Oh good I'm not the only one.

Actually, I'm slowly losing interest in ponies as a whole.

~Skeeter The Lurker

I haven't watched every episode in a season since 2; after that, I've only watched the episodes that sound interesting.

So no big change this season for me. I'm only still with pony for the fanfic.

A fimfiction without Skeeter? I can barely even imagine it.

I expect the show to thwart your expectations, as it tends to do to us all the time.

inb4 the mutant is actually the villian this season
Calling it now Cyrissy raises her to be evil

Have any of the story summaries even mentioned her outside of the premier?

Also god I am super behind on finishing my Flurry Heart story. I need to get that done tonight so I can release it in the next day or so.

I have to agree with starlight glimmer being the worst villain in MLP. I mean her back story for being is evil is she lost a freind as a kid. I mean did you run out of ideas for villains. And they she goes a brainwashed a whole village because of that and she is let go(well she escaped). And she returns and basically destory s Time and space until she is stopped and she is let go free. So what did we learn today kids. "I learn even if you destory the world it will be OK because some will fix it and they become friends with you and we will all live happily ever after. I know this is a kids TV show but come a villain destroy the world pretty much and you let her go free. Well that's my 10c worth.

The Starlight-heavy two minute preview was interestingly awkward, gave off a vibe of "serial cultist uncomfortable in her new cult but docile in public". But then, I'm philosophically malaligned with the show's explicit ideology about redemption and ponies being able to change at an essential level through herd behavior friendship.

Fortunately you don't need to still have an appreciation of the show to continue to have an appreciation of the fandom.

Let's be honest; we stuck here through season 3 and we're still here.

So do what we always do and focus on the rest of the season past the premiere, which will be business as usual.

And maybe just watch the premiere and try to enjoy it for what it is? You might be surprised.

Either way, it's usually the regular, non-epic-event episodes that make MLP:FiM what we love.

I have no problems with Flurry Heart. She looks interesting.

Starlight, as I said before, can go straight to hell and stay there. I once said I found Diamond Tiara to be the worst. now, Starlight has that 'honor'.

The preview didn't leave me expecting much from these first two episodes. I'm just nursing a hope that the rest of the season following them will be good, which it very well might be, even-numbered seasons have been magical so far.

I think Starlight might come into her own with time. She left a sour taste in our mouths at the end of last season, but so did alicorn Twilight back in season 3. I'm not under any illusion that everyone's okay with that particular decision now, but if that wildfire can be controlled (to an extent, at least), this one can as well.

Interestingly, in my long-runner I had to effectively turn Twi into Starlight Glimmer to keep it unfolding on the level I wanted. I stripped Twi of wings and horn and saddled her with some pretty terrible crimes (crimes that were defused and didn't really happen, another parallel), though she didn't actually stick with the other ponies: she pulled a Trixieverse Lyra and only wanted to be with her Princess (or Trixie), which rather defeats that purpose. She regressed, but she's happy. It's what she wanted from the start, in canon, was to just be Celestia's. My mane 6 sort of became a mane 5 and nobody noticed. If my Twi had wanted to return to Ponyville and couldn't turn to Canterlot for refuge, it would've been this season opener.

I think the Twi Superfriends thing ain't working for MLP, because the mane 6 don't have arcs anymore: they're done.

Crankypants unicorn full of herself comes to town and has to make friends? That's an arc. In fact that's the arc we started with. I guess I have pretty much opposite feelings to a lot of you, and time will tell if Hasbro makes an ass of me ;) I'm just saying, there's a clear path to this dynamic being good. It was CONSTRUCTED to be good. (well, to be a huge massive callback to the dynamics of Season 1)

:duck: Contrarianjinx is contrarian. Again.

I'm looking forward to it, myself. Generally speaking, I have faith in the show staff to make something I want to watch.

>pretending like they aren't the same pony

Actually, I disagree, Starlight was a terrific villain. Which is the reason I'm not looking forward to this. :/

I know exactly what you mean. I read this blog post, and I was all like "Wait, that's today?! What?!!" I love the fandom, and this website's been life-changing for me, which is why I'm still around. But my interest in seeing new episodes of the actual show is near zero at this point. I guess maybe it's the way they keep introducing massive world-changing events, only to then bend over backwards to maintain the feel/status-quo of the first two seasons? Twilight's got wings!! But she's still basically the same pony as before, except when we need her to be different in season openings/finales. Now she's got a castle and she's the Princess of Friendship!!! But we're still gonna make tons of episodes that strive to feel like they're from season 1, except not as good... does all this make sense? I'm not sure I'm explaining myself very clearly here. I literally never actually thought about things like this before until right now, so I'm kinda spit-balling here...

I gotta disagree with you about Tirek vs Starlight Glimmer though. I tried giving the season 4 finale another shot the other day, and I really do find it almost unwatchably bad (yes, even that epic fight scene). Just everything about it bugs me in some way or another, so I'll give Starlight this: as horribly lazy as her backstory ended up being, the season five finale never made me feel outright annoyed or whatever. Not that that's saying much, mind :applejackunsure:

(Looking forward to your Batman v Batman: Dawn of Batman review btw! As a lover of bad films, every awful thing I've heard about it makes me want to see it sooo much!)

To bad I'll be missing it since I'm traveling & hotels normally have basic cable. Oh well... probably see it in Youtube...

But the reason I think Starlight Glimmer is joining the main six is to form a duality with Rarity. I've see this with the two alicorns Princess Celestia & Luna, & that impression of mine is reinforced by the main six: The two unicorns Twilight Sparkle & Rarity, the two pegasus Rainbow Dash & Flutter Shy, & the two earth ponies Pinkie Pie & Apple Jack. But when Twilight Sparkle turned into an alicorn, it was just Rarity while Twilight Sparkle formed that duality I see with Princess Cadence.

With Starlight Glimmer joining the main six, she remade that duality with Rarity. So that is how I see it.
