Some more 'Dear Dinky Hooves' details... · 3:07am Jan 3rd, 2016
-Each of the 'Dear' stories is a different type of story; 'Sweetie Belle' is a Sad story, 'Applebloom' is a Tragic story, and 'Scootaloo' is an Adventure story. In keeping with that tradition, 'Dinky Hooves' is first and foremost a Love story.
-The roots of 'Dinky Hooves' can actually be found in another story near and dear to my heart; 'Let It Snow.'
Together they opened the mystery gift. And what was inside?
Well, that's between them.
Suffice to say, it was the greatest gift of all.
Minor spoilers, but that gift ties directly into 'Dear Dinky Hooves.'
-Also breaking somewhat with tradition is that 'Dinky Hooves,' as a love story, will have two separate narrations; Derpy Hooves and Time Turner. Derpy's contributions will be more on the feely side while Turner's will feature a bit of sci-fi and swashbuckling.
-The release date was chosen as it is three years to the day that 'Scootaloo' was published.
-No, this will not be the start of a new series of letters. This is a sort of bonus for all of you and a story that I have been dying to tell for quite some time. This was originally going to be an epilogue to the Continuity, but since that's taking so long to finish I'm moving this forward.
-Eagle eyed, dedicated, and constant readers are going to have some MAJOR shock moments in this story. I'm going back through to eliminate as many spoilers for things as I can (particularly the MASSIVE reveal set to happen at the end of 'On the Wings of War') but remember; there is time travel in this story. You will see moments from the past, present, and FUTURE of the Continuity.
-The Guild of Time Defense will finally be seen in all their glory; Turner, Colgate/Minuette, the Tall Pony, Dream Weaver, and a couple you haven't met yet like Galaxy, the twins Tick and Tock, and *REDACTED.* Huh. That's weird.
-This being a 'Dear' story, you can expect an appearance by a certain old villain. You know who I'm talking about.
-Another villain who hasn't shown up in a while will also appear at a critical moment.
-You will finally know what happened to Rarity's parents.
-If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I may give you an answer you weren't expecting.
Speaking of the "Dear" series, why is Dear Sweetie Belle the only one that gets sequels that are slice of life and doesn't have M. Night Shyamalan level plot twists. Case and point, Dear Applebloom's sequel with that little revelation about the apple siblings ancestry.
3660193 Interesting question.
The sequels to 'Sweetie Belle' are actually quite stealthy in their hints at the catastrophic events that lie ahead. In 'Paternally Yours,' Crescendo mentions the family eye color and refers to it as 'the emerald fire that burns from within.' This comes back in the thick of 'Phases of the Moon' where the exact same phrase is used by Brother Veritas when explaining the continuing blood-line of King Sombra. Then THAT builds to 'Sweetie and Dimmy' and the reveal of Dimmy's imaginary friend "the Somber King."
Some revelations are simply bigger than others.
The secret of the Apple's bloodline is the second most guarded secret in all of Equestria so naturally it's going to be pretty big when it comes out. But even that was foreshadowed in 'Phases' when Veritas mentions to Shining Armor that Celestia's sole foal had children of her own in Ponyville.
"M. Night Shyamalan level?" Ouch. I never saw them as such. Doesn't that imply that the stories are less enjoyable?
I don't know how you manage to keep topping yourself with hype, but you do.
Well, we've had flashforwards before... you should be able to find a balance.
Hmm... haven't actually been that many villains... this should be a Tartarus of a time, though.
And that just leaves Twilight's ascension... but then again, that happened so often in fics even before it did in canon that it almost doesn't need to be fleshed out, just taken as something that was bound to happen.
I'm not following. I see three stories with that name and none of them are yours.
Also, I hope to see more Applejack, that would be just great,
3660294 No, it doesn't mean the stories are less enjoyable. Its just that he has used plot twists to the point that I'm surprised that he hasn't been arrested for it's murder yet.
3660526 Not written yet. Sequel to 'the Changelings Have a King.'
I think you'll be pleased with her journey.
Yay! A story about Dinky and my fav family for her!
