Olympics · 3:32am
So we got tickets to go to the Olympics yesterday for the hockey at 8:30am, which required leaving the house at 5:45am, having got the tickets the night before at 8pm....
It was surprisingly easy to get to, everything was organised really well on that end. It was super early on so there was no queueing anywhere. We go to Kings Cross in half an hour, and the Javelin trains from St. Pancras were going constantly, getting to the park in 5 minutes since they use the Eurostar lines and travel at 145mph with up to 1,000 passengers. So much for our ageing train network not having capacity for the Olympics....

There was a little bit of confusion on where we needed to go to pick up our tickets (since we got them the night before, we had to get them here instead of being posted). But soon enough, we were in the park itself.

First thing that hit me was how freaking big this place was. It was absurdly huge, way more than I expected. And having arrived at 7am, the place was like a ghost town which really gave you an idea of the scale.

There were 2 of the biggest MacDonalds I've ever seen, and they were just temporary...

The event we went for was the Hockey. We got to see the 11/12th place classification game between South Africa and India which was very entertaining, even if they were just playing to see who came last. The 2nd game was between Spain and Belgium for 5/6th place classification. You could definitely tell there was a skill level difference between this game and the previous. We felt we got pretty great seats that gave us a good view of the whole stadium.

And a picture of me at the top of the stadium...

And the bottom...

The Velodrome was a really amazing piece of architecture to see in person.

The park was extremely scenic and beautiful too. Full of English wild flowers.

I don't have any photos for this but the food was great too. There was every British staple you could imagine. Fish and Chips, Roasts, Pie and Mash, Cornish Pasties, the lot. Of course I had 3 Samosas from one of the Indian stands for lunch....!
Overall it was a fantastic day and I really think as a country we did a great job with this. Something to be proud of.

Shit, I hope you had fun, man.
Glad you had a good time.
I...I had a completely different thought about what you looked like in real life
Very pretty pictures!

Same! Glad you had fun though, Knighty!
Sounds like a blast. I know I enjoyed the few winter Olympic events I went to 2 years ago. Fun and you can check "watch an Olympic event live" off the list of things to do. Had me hoping at the start you were going to watch one of the Dutch teams play though ;)
And a yay Britain for doing a good job of hosting.
OMG. Harry potter lost his scar and got a decent camera.
Oh and was at the muggle Olympics. Hope he had fun
.
I'm not a fan of the Olympics, but the scenery looks amazing!
I've seen you somewhere, I know I have... but where?
I kept imagining you as a blue pony who had glasses, an outfit of a short black shirt, some black shorts, stood on two hooves, had a horn, used a penicl with yer hoof.
No, I'm not getting this bit from your old avatar (I think it was in one of your old avatars), but yeah, you had a sense of control and command, even a badassness aura, and a boss feel. You own this place anyway.
To me, all admin have a bit of a badass aura, but you, the most.
Now, seeing that you are...different than you seemed to me, I am officially trippin balls, man.
You don't fit your part of badassness and boss-mode by looks, but then again, looks lie...a lot.
You have my complete respect, never doubt it. Thank you for reading this you sexy lovely awesome.........
Damn it, I know the word, it's on the tip of my tongue, better than all the stricken through words, can't fidn it....King. Yes, king fits nicely...

Your dreams? Sorry
I'm surprised how clear the skies are! When I lived in the northeast children could only dream of the sun.
Glad you enjoyed it
That looks actually really cool, wishing I lived in the UK right about now.
It must be nice to be able to hit the Olympics with such a short notice, us Americans would have to jump the Atlantic (and maybe the whole country for those West Coasties). Glad to see (and read) that you had a good time.
About that McDon's, it's the biggest of the world with 2000 people working in it. And they are from all over the world. It's crazy, especially now I hear it only temporally.
But I also hoped that you were going to see Holland win. But it's more logical if you were seeing your own country. It looks like you had fun!
You... You mean to tell me you're NOT an Eldritch Demon, but a normal human being?! I'VE BEEN LIVING ON A LIE THIS WHOLE TIME!

Yeah they were pretty awesomely fast and comfy. I wanted to stay on it ;_;
At first glance, the gray building to the left in the third picture looked like an aircraft carrier.

Sorry, if it makes you feel better my nickname prompted the insult tampon for a cruel nin-nic-name. The trick is I chased the first person down, pinned them, and shook his hand while everybody laughed, including me. That ended it before it really started.
Glad you enjoyed the Olympics.
The Orbit Tower was a waste of money. It must have cost a fortune to make that much bent steel.
Oh my god... you are so lucky!
You're making it really hard to continue picturing Sweetie Belle with glasses on when you talk.
>ticket thing says "Kieran Pollard"
>website says "My name is Graeme Pollard"
that image was clearly photoshopped
luckily i saved the original

OH YOU

OH ME
Hockey knighty? You lie!
But in all seriousness, I'm Canadian, so when I hear the name hockey, I think Ice Hockey, not Field Hockey.
Hope you had fun at the Olympics!
Great, now I want to see a group photo of all tithe mods. Individual ones would do as well.
Can you pull that off Knighty? Can you?
