Turnabout Storm and RavenRegios · 2:06am Nov 4th, 2015
So, for those who don't know, I was somewhat involved in writing the last few chapters of the novelization of Turnabout Storm. This particular novelization, on the recommendation of the redoubtable Firesight, highly expanded on the material from the original videos by NeoArtimus, and was done with her permission. It's a very solid story, almost independent of the videos in its last few chapters, and a number of people like it.
That said, the author of the novelization, RavenRegios, has recently entered a breakdown caused by negative comments on the story. Moreover, she's been blacklisted from another fan site for defending the story, which has cost her five years' worth of work on other fandoms. This news startled me, and I confess I'm very upset on her behalf that she would be treated this way.
Raven wrote the vast majority of the story by herself, 42 chapters all told. The remainder, and the section where the expansions are truly explored, were written by Firesight, who started as the story's editor but took over writing when real life prevented Raven from doing so herself. As the negative comments seem to be derived from the expansions, if you're going to be mad at anyone, be mad at Firesight and myself. We're the ones who cooked up the extra trials, the romantic subplot, and the inclusion of other Ace Attorney characters. Don't heap the blame on Raven.
If you feel any sort of concern for Raven, drop her a line via PM or comment on the story. Let her know that she matters to you, and that the haters don't hold the majority opinion.
Sad news indeed. I'll help.
Speaking of TS, weren't you writing a fan-sequel at some point? Whatever happened to that?
