    Watch (This) Space

    Hello everyone!

I've been gone on hiatus for a few years. I stopped watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in the middle of the seventh season. But a few months ago, my interest was rekindled. And the last two seasons were fantastic. The high point, for me, is the new characters -- the Student Six -- who breathed fresh life into the show.

Fallout 4 Quick Announcement · 5:51pm Oct 8th, 2015

art by Daniel-SG

Another short blog this week. But for those of us eagerly anticipating Fallout 4, today heralded a long-awaited announcement. Today, Bethesda has released the minimum and recommended specs for Fallout 4!

The short version:
Minimum requirement is a decent-but-not-too-fancy computer. Recommended requirements: own Skynet. :derpytongue2:

More specifically:

Minimum
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent

Recommended
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz/AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent

I figure most of my fans have been eagerly anticipating the game. And I thought anyone who hasn't seen this yet would appreciate the heads-up. (Myself, I easily beat the minimum requirements, but for smoothest affordable gameplay and graphics I'll be doing a little upgrading to my own computer over the next month.)

In their article covering Bethesda's announcement, IGN goes on to say:

The developer has revealed you'll need between 28GB and 35GB on console depending on where you live and what languages you want the game to support.

Additionally, it's been announced Fallout 4 will digitally unlock on November 10, 2015, at 12:00am (local time) in all territories (In North America, the unlock time will be 12:01am EST), except Asia (available at 12am on Tuesday, November 11) and Japan (available at 12am on Thursday, December 17).

Keep in mind that last month Bethesda has also announced that the amount of memory that Fallout 4 will consume will increase over time thanks to updates:

We'll be doing regular free updates to the game, and like Skyrim, these will come with not just fixes, but new features. For Skyrim we added things like mounted combat, legendary mode, kill cams, visual enhancements and more. We’ll work with all of you to figure out what new things you’d love to see added to Fallout 4, whether they are small tweaks or new features.

So the question you should ask yourself is: "My body is ready... but is my PC?"

Meanwhile, enjoy the continuation of Bethesda's videos on what makes you S.P.E.C.I.A.L.!

I need more memory and a better video card :fluttercry:

... so, does anyone have the number for Cyberdyne Industries?

Hmmm. Hopefully the CPU for the recommended is what'll get the most of it, since I have an i5. And hopefully it has good SLI support so I can match that 780 recomendation! :derpytongue2:

Looking forward to it... although I wouldn't be able to play it with my current PC ~_~

Awww... If only I had a system capable of that.

Though I must say that Bethesda is taking real advantage of the internet to show their game. Video's on gameplay, stat effects and perks, world environment, crafting stuff. It really seems like youtube is the big driving horse in presenting the product to the public. I can't remember seeing a commercial on T.V. yet.

Fallout 3 was addictive. Fallout 4 has a huge pair of steel toed raider kickers to fill.

I am eagerly awaiting the release!

I'll probably get it for the PS4 instead of the 'puter.

8 GB RAM. I'm officially screwed. Same goes for GPU :pinkiesad2:

My body is, and my computer has never been that ready!!!

Oh, I'm good with those specs.

Yes! I've been preparing for this since June! i7 4790K, GTX 970 4GB, and 16GB RAM. It's your move, Fallout 4.

I have an FX6300, I'm at least above minimums but I probably wont be able to max it out.

Hmm, maaaaaybe I might be able to play that... Off topic, excited to see what monstrosity of a energy weapon I could make through the weapon crafting system! :pinkiehappy:

And on top of the the base game, I wonder what people'll come up with for mods on this, especially if it's additions to the crafting system!?

But yes, thanks for the info!

I hadn't thought of it much, but that is a good point.

Bethesda has been spot-on with marketing Fallout 4, and it helps that the game looks to be incredible.

Youtube is a much better format than commercials for game advertisement in my opinion - they can get away with more detail and time.

My GPU is more than able to handle Fallout 4, it seems. Hopefully my CPU doesn't die on me though, I'm running on an a first gen i7. Those are like, four or five years old. XD

Rush and Pony on!
T4E

Seems the new computer I had built and will be coming in the mail next week is fairly superior to the recommended settings.

Well played, me.:moustache:

Eeeep... well horseapples.

I'm just a bit under the min reqs. Got the RAM, but processor is about .5 ghz shy Video card is more then a few numbers under that Hopefully won't be to big a deal to upgrade them.

3452749 I guess we'll see how much it works the CPU, since I have the same, except I swapped the i7 for an i5 4690k and another 970 :moustache:

Looks like I got me a 2GB video card at the ready and meets the minimum requirements for Fallout 4. Hooray for upgrades! :pinkiehappy:

If only I could afford to get past the GPU bottleneck that is integrated graphics. :fluttercry:

I am so close to recommend that it hurts. I thought my 8350 and 2tb 750 would be more than enough XD Time to upgrade some more. Will have to wait until after the holidays though :(

My GPU is well above the recommended and I have 16GB of RAM.
The problem for me lie with the processor , my old I5 2500K 3.3Ghz might not work too well for this one (even if it managed the Witcher 3) .... unless I overclock this old boy.

Looks like it's time to upgrade my tower.... It'll max out my RAM at the moment, but I intended to bump that up anyway, and I was really hoping to spice it up in the graphics department since I have a Radeon HD 6670. Maybe an early Christmas present? So glad somepony had the sense to toss up the requirements. ^_^ I also wonder if this will work with the new Steam Controller? I love PC... but it's hard to beat a large 40+" screen. Fingers crossed...

Welp, I'm out then. I can't afford to upgrade my old Radeon 7770 1GB GPU or the dual-core non-hyperthreaded Pentium CPU.

It's a letdown, but better early than on the day of release. Thank you Kkat.

3452906 Indeed, though the consensus on Reddit is that recommended stats are inflated a decent bit. I wasn't building my pc just for FO4, though exceeding the stats is a nice bonus. I just wanted a new PC that'd last me 4-6 years to replace my Phenom X4 965 and HD 7850. It was a good computer, but it's starting to get to the med-to-low settings range.

My god, my five year computer finally can't play new games anymore!

...

It could if I got 2GB more RAM though.

Hm. Maybe its time for me to finally break down and build a new computer...

In fact, it looks quite decent compared to other recent games.
My computer was already built for next gen game, so I really doubt there will be an issue here (even my very old config met the required spec.)

Got minimum easily! Might want to upgrade my graphics card and processor though...:trixieshiftright:

No worrying about spending money upgrading anything because I'll be playing on my Xbone which suits me just fine :ajsmug:

Minimum

Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)

Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent

30 GB free HDD space

3452960 mine was to play any non-AAA game at 4k 60fps for as (comparatively) cheap as possible. I mostly succeeded, although Elite: Dangerous will sometimes dip as low as 40. And at that resolution and max settings my computer doubles nicely as a space heater....

damm my hard drive is failing crashing on me and it sucks

i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd220/wallstuff4/vader-nooooo.jpg

I don't even come close to those specs, and I won't be acquiring a better computer for the better part of a year. Too bad.

My PC is more than surpasses the recommended specs... but alas I ordered the PS4 version of Fallout 4 before I bought this Rig. Perhaps though a Steam sale will net me the PC version sometime in the future!

And this is the moment I realise it would be far cheaper for me to get a console which run this monster, than upgrading my 7 year old junkyard. My humble intel duo core and 2gb RAM no match for this.
....sigh..... still waiting it like a maniac, even if my playthrough will be watching it on youtube :fluttercry:

Looks like I'll have to upgrade for the first time since Bioshock 2...and that was only an extra 6 gigs of RAM.

So I'm a little sad that I won't be one of the first to play the game what with digital release and whatnot, however, it's the price to pay to wait for Amazon to deliver me my pipboy edition.
..............
I GOT A PIPBOY EDITION!!!!
EEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE:pinkiehappy::pinkiecrazy:

Sorry. I'm just so happy right now.

thank you for the update on this kkat. i haven't been following FO4 as well as i should have been so i would likely never have seen this and wouldn't have known whether i could play it or not

Guys, a quick reminder. What you see are mostly likely just the requirements for 1080p. You should be able to run on 720p with slightly weaker rigs.

Also, I feel a slight hinge of schadenfreude for having bought a skynet not so long ago

Anyway, MY COMPUTER IS READY!!!

Laptop meets min specs. Barely meets them, my processor is 2.9ghz the Nvidia card meets requirements (surprisingly well, although it only meets onboard ram requirements) I've got 8GB ram and hard drive space is not an issue.

That means FO4 is going to be very much a game where I have to shut down everything to play it.

Minimum is 8gb? I only have 6. How will that affect me?

Well, I squeak by the minimum requirements, barely but it's close and this computer is only about two years old.

Do you plan to make another Fallout story based on Fallout 4?
I was planning to make one (Not expecting much from it) but I dont want to spend alot of time on it if your making one

Seems I will be able to play on Medium without any slowdowns then.

Thank god I got a new PC this summer. I will be able to it run on ultra.

8 GB RAM?!?! :raritydespair:
:raritycry:

Sooo Kkat what would you do if you received an early access pass from the developers?

My PC is beyond ready, and that makes me happy. Worst case scenario, I move some things onto my backup for space. I am so glad I upgraded my PC over the summer.

Related: I probably wont be able to play the game until december because of army things, and that makes me sad.

"minimum Intel Core i5" :applecry:

35 gigs, and that's not even counting the space mods will take up. Wow, must be a lot of audio files in there.
