AJ and the Ninja Cancelled :( · 1:56am
Hey Guys,
I'm sorry to announce I won't be writing Applejack and the Ninja. I realized very suddenly that I would be breaking one of my cardinal rules: Try not to write something that's already been written too often. Truth is, I've already written this fic, it's called Twilight and the Spartan Stallion. I've thoroughly explored the fish out of water scenerio, and frankly my muse is denying me anything of quality until I come up with a good idea again. Writing AJatN would be almost a carbon copy of Spartan Stallion, just with a different coat of paint. I'm truly sorry, those looking forward to it. My lack of knowledge about Asian cultures, and my cranky muse forbid me from making the attempt. I have a little bit written, which will appear in my meta story "Aegis Shield's Scrap File", so you can look for what I had already there.
In the meantime, I'm going to be thinking on some TwiLuna shipping. Perhaps a continuation of What Princesses Need? I think a few of you might like that. It's been a long time since I've written a straight-up romance story. Could be something interesting to explore for a while, I think. :)

I would love to see a continuation of What Princesses Need, either with more get togethers leading to eventual feelings, or else Twi very shyly coming around after much deliberation and stammering, asking Luna to continue what almost happened while she was tied up.

I would like to think I saw this coming, but I didn't. I'm a little sad I'll admit. It would be nice to see some interesting story twist from the perspective of or primarily with each of the main five, and seeing you write AJ would have been fun. However, I do have to agree, it would have been just the same thing, only different cultures, and different characters. Just cause you change the colors on the fish, don't change what you caught. So I too support going for something else. I've seen Twi, Luna, Pinkie, and a bit of Flutter in more primary roles. I'm interested to see if and how you will do the rest if you do them that is.

I got to say that i am kinda sad about the cancellation, but i can see where you're coming from. The more i think about it, the more i realize that the only reason i was looking forward to the story was the exact reason you stopped it. I was looking forward to a story like Twilight and the Spartan Stallion, but it truly wouldn't have been what you as the author and us as the readers had been hoping for. You fleshed out and explored that scenario and done what you could with it. There is no reason to do one that you already know is going to be too similar to a story you've done already. You made the right choice, and i can't wait to read your next project that i'm sure will be just as amazing as your past works.

Hey Aegis. Long time reader, first time poster (Just signed up a moment ago, in fact.) I know the feeling with the 'scrap pile' collection. sometimes we have ideas that seem good at the time, but turn out to be.... not so hot. you try them a bit to see if they'll work anyway, or just to get them out of your head, and that's about all that comes of it.
Even so, i have a concept to toss your way.
There's a fic that's been popping up on the reccomended stories box on the top of the website the past few days. it's got an interesting premise, but alot of people are slamming because of the style in which it's written, and how the story's handled (Memetic overload, Tons of author inserts, the presence of psycho killer pinkie). You may have seen it; 'The Unexpected Love Life of Dusk Shine'. Forgive me for being so bold, but part of me Is just dying to know if you'd find the basic underlying premise of that fic (Male twilight in an otherwise normal equestria) interesting in the slightest, and what you'd do with a basic concept like that.
Not exactly a fic request, but maybe a concept suggestion, just to see what you think of it, at the very least.

ANYWAYS I am super excited for the twiluna because twiluna.
I'm rather disappointed but just wondering, why not basically take the same idea done before (ancient warrior meets ponies) and just think of a different plot for say? Stories have already soaked up nearly every concept(war, sexual fantasies, crossovers, westerns, cyberpunk, etc.) yet they do a great job of being entertaining just by the written format and plot going for it.
Although I do understand your lack of understanding Asian culture, I'm positive that it could've been a radically different story compared to "Twilight and her Spartan Stallion" (also being a vast improvement) if you had the knowledge at hand.
Well, I get back from a family emergency, and I see you've decided to scrap AJ and the Ninja. I'm sorry to hear that, but you've got pretty good reasons for doing so. I agree, you've got a huge mass of research to do if you want to give the story the right background for your OC ninja pony, and I suspect by the time you've gotten that complete to your satisfaction you'd have hit burnout on the project, anyway. Maybe save the concept for another, less intensive OC that doesn't need a fully-realized background. In the meantime, I see that you're indulging in a bit of Tuna with "What Princesses Need". That ought to be something that you can indulge your Muse with for a bit. I'm sure there's plenty of things that can occupy Twilight with the Mistress of the Night (and her alter ego, I see. This has a lot of potential, and needs some comments, stat.)
Oh, and I'm still working my way through Spartan with the proofreading. My time got sort of crunched on that, along with everything else on that. I'll send you the completed file when I've got the rest of it done. I will say, though, that with the review I'm pretty sure that you'd need to trim way too much out if you want to really try and get an acceptance at EqD for that one. Things just veered too far afield for that one to make it past the current set of standards for character and plot being used there.
