Might be wise to reread The Last Sentinel a little...

Possibly from Reflection Nineteen: Blood and Water. Possibly before... say, next week.

    Just saying.

    It's been a while

This seems to be a regularly reoccurring thing with me.

First off, I wish to apologize to all my readers for the stupidly long delays between my stories' installments. I tried starting Off the Record as an attempt to get through the depressing sequence in The Last Sentinel, but using a new perspective is bringing challenges of its own. Seems to be familiar pattern.

Hokay... time to just up and say it.

Although I've been looking forward to this current installment of TLS and I've had free time for about three weeks now, I barely wrote. It's just so goddamn depressing a point in the story that it really gets to me, and it just kills my motivation. Which is why I'd like to ask you all a question.

Hokay... yeah, it's been a very, very long time, so I think it's time to say what's been going on. Because it's been over eight months since I've put something up, and I feel horrible for that.

Hokay... time to just up and say it.

Although I've been looking forward to this current installment of TLS and I've had free time for about three weeks now, I barely wrote. It's just so goddamn depressing a point in the story that it really gets to me, and it just kills my motivation. Which is why I'd like to ask you all a question.

I'm thinking of starting something called "The Last Sentinel: Off the Record." TLS became a much wider universe than I imagine when first starting out the story, and while I do want to continue writing it, there's plenty of it left unexplored or only just barely touched upon. What I'm thinking of is just a series of mostly unrelated, standalone segments that consist of whatever comes to mind that belongs to the TLS universe. Some ideas bouncing around in my head include an action-packed scene involving the now-disavowed and hunted Praetorian Guard Faraal, the Razorwings' escape across the Wasteland, griffin guerilla warfare against an Enclave-held Aldorna, the Lunar Guard field-testing old techniques in a modern battlefield, and even things way before the actual story's timeline, such as a segment involving Madam Morrow of the Rising Tide, the founder of hydromancy. So my question is... what do you guys think? Should I try something like this?

Yes yes! For the two sisters sake and all else there could be holy, yes!

I'd read it, but that doesn't say too much.

I'll support the idea of side stories. You're world building is one of the major draws for me to your work, so more is never a bad thing in my mind. Also if you've got all these ideas in your head it will probably help the creative process to get them out on paper (or screen, as the case may be). Writing side stuff usually helps me along with my own stories, especially if I'm stuck on a particular chapter.

Go for it, by the why how do you feel about Somber's Story being finished?

I remember commenting a long time ago about how you were involving Frost in a lot of major places, I guess a side effect of that is you have to explain how that went. If getting the spare ideas out in the form of a new story will help then go for it, just keep in mind the current state of the original story.

Shut up and take my money upvotes!

Sometimes you need a break from the grind. Something fresh to get things moving again. I say go for 'er, those certainly sound like interesting concepts.

Sounds very intresting!

I like the idea of the backstory being a side story but I feel as if it would take away from the experience your story has to offer. Your world building and character development as well as story crossovers are what make your story amazingly unique IMHO. So no matter what you decide, remember that a story that's worth telling, is a story that you should tell in your own kind of way. Let no one else tell you otherwise. :ajsmug:

OK....I have to start this with....You know I will read anything you produce....But...I WANT YOU TO FINISH WHAT YOU HAVE BEGUN! OK, So I'm an Arse that way. The story has me so beguiled I want it to carry on and end! (and I can still see you every time you game on STEAM.....heheheheheheh!) HAVE FUN! (and come to Cider Fest someday!!!!!!)

I really enjoy the TLS universe and your skill behind your stories, so the more the better. Also like 3359170 what's your feelings about Somber's Story being finished? Because though your could end this Frost's story short, it could easily expand as big as Project Horizons and beyond since Frost has lived not only longer than Blackjack (or the same as Blackjack, given what happened to her) but has been through "alot" as well.

3525876 Well, I wasn't there for the whole ride when it came to Project Horizons. I started reading it around the time it hit 50 chapters. Honestly, Blackjack has been through the ringer and it would be inhumane to continue. He set up a lot of continuances though. Although I don't really agree with how he set up 200 years later. I like to think that production and technology was able to recover a bit further up than steam engines of old Equestria. After all the infrastructure and a lot of production lines were still there and its been shown that production was possible to continue. On the whole I'm content with how it ended.
