I've upped the number of new stories up there to 7 and updated stories to 3. I've also changed the half life of their "heat" value to 4 days instead of 14 so they should cycle much faster.
We'll see how this works out.

Am I the only one who thinks it should have been the other way around?
I mean, Something that gets featured usually gets at least 1000 views or so... but I'm just saying there are a lot of stories out there that didn't quite catch the first featured quota and deserve a second chance... In my opinion that likely will never be taken into concideration, I think that it should have been done the other way around, giving 7 updated slots and 3 featured slots... or maybe 6 updated slots and 4 featured slots. I dunno, but I kind of disaprove... please don't ban me

Wonderful! I have one question and one suggestion, though.
Does the new heat value apply to both the new and updated stories? I was sort of under the impression that the updated stories decayed at a much faster rate, though I can see how that might not have been the case.
There are now a LOT of slots. I think it would be best to have separate boxes for new and updated stories. Also, equal share, as others have said.

I apologize if I'm wrong in this assumption but I believe to get into an updated slot in the box, you need to first be in the new stories slots. Therefore it makes sense for there to be less updated slots since they had their chance and will probably have a load of readers already.

The updated stories system doesn't make use of the heat system at all. It's purely based on rating and time since update rather than any popularity metric. And I'd liek to keep the box weighted towards new stories rather than updates. But, I might change it to 6/4 instead.

Well, kinda. Only the first 5 slots are in the rotation, you have to select the other 5 manually.

However, there are many great fics people miss on the "New Stories" page, thus, they never get favorited. Sorry, but I'm getting awfully confused here.
The last three stories are for UPDATED stories. The seven others are for new ones that would be on the "New Stories" page. Once they fall off the feature box, they will appear in one of the last three slots when they get updated.

Wow, just as I was about to write a blog about this. Hm....am I the only one that feels displeasured by this? Hopefully, people don't think of me as a dick, but I want to express my concern over this new feature box.
1. It's an eyesore.
- I love it, the idea, the theory, and it's oncoming effects, but it literally strains my eyes looking at this Goliath. 10 spots...wow. It's gonna be pretty hard now to cycle through all of them. See, 5 was balanced, but 10 just seems...off. Plus, It's pretty damn confusing to me now.
2. Undermining the authors.
- Now I might be the only one here, but I think that this isn't as grand as it sounds and looks. It looks one of those Korean boy-bands with the 8+ members. There are just so many, you just aren't sure what to click on. Seeing as how I've looked at this from the time you made this change, I thought on the possibilities. And here's my conclusion. Not that many people are going to look at the feature box's occupants. Since there are 10, people are just going to brush it aside and look at their favorites. Plus, the new look it has gives off that "Just about anyone can get the hell in here" aura. And in my opinion, it feels like anyone can get in there now.
3. Occupants' feelings.
- I, for one, feel like my pride has been belittled. It's hard work, getting in the featured box. Even though I have never been in the top three, I know that it's pretty hard. You have to either write something incredible, funny, or suited well to the likes of the general readership. I've only been in the updates sections, but I still take pride in that. It's hard to get in there, especially if you've got a double-didgeted dislike bar. And getting in there made me feel like I made it, like I moved on from that little fan to that respected author level like RobCakeran53. But now...if I were to be featured again, I don't think that feeling would be the same.
If you read this far, thanks for listening to my take on this. Take this to heart, analyze and criticize, or just plain on scroll down, I wanted my voice, more precisely, words, to be heard.
