I need some serious help. · 7:35pm Aug 2nd, 2015
So I'm making a gift for my fiancée: her own civilization in civ v. I'm kind of stuck, so I was wondering if anyone here knew how to do that. If also be making an Antares civ once I finished that which of make public.
So, can any of you help?
I wish I could, but I don't really know anything about modding...
Might take a look at this link here for the basics as well as what tools you'll need. Alternatively, you could probably download one of the custom civilization/country mods and find an editor for whatever file-type it uses {esm maybe, I dunno?} and edit the names/images to better suit your needs. Would take a lot of the work out of it {if doable} and make it much quicker.
Edit: This link here will likely be very helpful as well.
What would be interesting is if someone created a custom scenario set in turn 1 of the war where you get to play as Equestria (which could be separate allied civs - one for each Alicorn). Though that would take a lot of work for balancing and modelling if it was a full out ponified set up. Humanised would still be hard though.
I haven't tried modding Civ before, just games in the Total War franchise (and only minor things), so I'm not the best person to help for anything other than balancing.
A special wonder that spawns a one of a kind Antares unit could be an idea. You'd want it in the early game though, no later than medieval.
May you go with the luck of the endermen, especially the leprechaun endermen's luck, they snipe creepers with shotguns from one mile away on a daily basis.
Yay
If Luna gets her own city it most be surrounded by bananas.
Yuck, Civ5. 4 is so much better and incidentally easier to mod. To my knowledge full ponyfication mods exist for both though, so that should make a good basis for the Antares Civ or even a fully fledged war scenario.
About the civ for your fiancée, what exactly do you have in mind? I suppose a photo of her would do as leaderhead, and you surely know some songs she likes for the themes, but what would her unique unit, building or improvement, or coat of arms for he civ be?
If I was provided with those infos I could make a new civ in less than a day in Civ4, however I would have to read up more on how exactly it works in 5 to implement it there and the way it loads its XML files is such a headache to work with that that would really only be a last resort if:
1. You insist on using 5 instead of 4.
2. You can't figure out how to do it yourself and
3. You can't find any volunteers but me.
If you decide to do it yourself I can really recommend CivFanatics.com and is Modiki. Celestiaspeed.
