Current Letters From a Little Princess Monster arc has started, and some extras, including a Seapony · 7:32pm Jul 25th, 2015
In honor of the Writeoff.me short fic contest that just started titled "Best Laid Plans" (and not having any of 'Those' stories, thank you very much), I would like to disrupt one of my plans. I originally wanted to publish the current arc of Letters From a Little Princess Monster - Mirror - rorriM once I had finished writing the whole thing. Plans change. Now I'm going to put it out one chapter a week, starting today (which give me incentive to write a little faster)
More below the break, including a quick clip out of Letters and a pic for The One Who Got Away by PhoenixSwift (who has very nice artwork)
For starters, the picture for The One Who Got Away is looking pretty nifty. (see below)
I'm plugging away on the story when I get the chance (the writeoff is going to slow me down a lot), and may even get it done by the end of August, to be published one chapter a day once I reach that point.
The Traveling Tutor and the Royal Exam is likewise progressing fairly slowly, with no end date projected yet. I'm REALLY going to hold onto this one until it's done before publishing because the plotline is complicated enough I don't want people to get confused with week-or-more gaps between chapters. (Yes, I know I published it up to the Griffon Emperor Assassination Attempt Dinner, but hush.)
Also, I'm wedgeing some time in to help edit on Nightmare Moon's tiny Adversary by CommanderX5, which is a very nice story with interesting twists and turns. Stop by and read sometime.
As a reward for reading this far, I present to you my Editing Point of the Moment in Letters, in which the real bearers of the Elements of Harmony are about to go to the Funland amusement park and meet their counterparts. (Based on my idea of "What if a real Disney Princess were to visit Disneyworld and meet the the Cast Member playing their part?")
(set just after the trip to Scootaloo's wing doctor in Fillydelphia)
It took a little while for Aunt Quick Fix to gather up the little ponies afterwards. Twist had gone around the waiting room with her candy bag, making sure every nervous little filly or colt in the waiting room had a tasty distraction, while Featherweight was flittering around the ceiling, taking ‘posed’ shots of the older patients while making faces or flying upside-down in order to make them smile. The upcoming trip to the amusement park was a powerful incentive though, and in very little time, the whole group was sitting on a trolley car.
“We’re going to Funland! We’re going to Funland!”
It was a catchy phrase, but after the five thousandth repetition, the words began to grate on Monster’s nerves, and even Aunt Quick Fix’s smile was looking a little plastic and forced by the time they reached the park and raced for the entrance.
“Look!” proclaimed Twist, bouncing up and down in front of a freshly painted sign. “They know we’re coming today!”
“Funland Park(LLC) Welcomes the Elements of Harmony,” read Monster. “Get your pictures taken with them at the Pavilion of the Stars, only ten bits.”
“I thought it was supposed to be a secret that we used the Elements of Harmony,” said Sweetie Belle. “We wrote that newspaper article and everything.”
“Ten bits apiece,” said Diamond Tiara thoughtfully while brushing one wing across the side of her face. The feathers had been carefully straightened and oiled by the nurse at the hospital, but they had already begun to pop up in places. “Can I borrow a manebrush from somepony?”
